For this holiday, you will enjoy 10 glorious days of yoga, meditation, lazing by the pool, strolling through the gardens, al-fresco dining, massage, sunshine, style, and tranquillity. There will be three full days planned for outings through the Sicilian countryside, villages, and boutiques. Additionally, you will enjoy staying at peaceful, awe-inspiring countryside, which is the perfect home for a yoga holiday in Sicily, Italy.
For this retreat, you will enjoy the exclusive use of a private villa, which is an elegant mansion that dates back to the 17th century and retains an endearing homely feel with its own pool, wellness center, and spacious common rooms. There are 12 twin bedrooms that can be made into doubles with en-suite bathrooms and direct access to the central courtyard of the mansion. All bedrooms have hair dryer, TV, safe, and mini-bar.
The retreat is for pure rest, peppered with fresh, simple, seasonal Italian cuisine, five-star accommodation in the group’s private villa, and deeply, soothing, relaxation classes. You will spend time in the hills and time by the sea, exploring cobblestone streets and cafe bars with a gelato in one hand and an espresso in the other.
You will be having Hatha and Yin yoga classes and sessions, deep relaxation, yoga Nidra practices, and meditation instructions. All classes are simply executed by experiential teacher. These classes are Ideal for beginners or for those wishing to deepen their established yoga practice.
All are welcome to join this retreat. People and partners who have not practised yoga are warmly welcomed to join. It is not obligatory to join in the classes. However, as the yoga method is very gentle, soothing, and easy to follow, some may wish to take the opportunity to try yoga and to experience the many benefits that it has to offer.
During the ten days, you visit some of Sicily’s beautiful historical sites, towns, street markets, and cathedrals and sample each region's unique cuisine at local cafes and a selection of interesting and quirky restaurants.
You will also spend a day in gorgeous, charming, and magical Taormina. Settled on a hill of the Monte Tauro, Taormina towers above two stunning alcove-bays below, and on the southern side, you can view the top of Mountain Etna, which is Europe's highest active volcano. This is an elegant town and a holiday haven to the discerning and stylish. Stroll through the alley ways and visit Corso Umberto, which is dotted with fine boutiques, cafes, and pastry shops.
You will also enjoy a trip to Catania, which sits at the foot of Mountain Etna (an active volcano with trails leading up to the summit). The city's wide central square, Piazza del Duomo, features the whimsical Fontana dell’Elefante statue and richly decorated Catania Cathedral. In the south west corner of the square, La Pescheria weekday fish market is a rowdy spectacle surrounded by seafood restaurants (where you will go to lunch). There is a great shopping opportunity for all too!
Additionally, you will also enjoy a day in Siracusa, which is notable for its rich Greek history, culture, amphitheatres, architecture, and as the birthplace of the preeminent mathematician and engineer, Archimedes. The finest area is the coastal Ortigia, which is dense with gorgeously crumbly, but also beautifully restored Baroque buildings, lovely restaurants, and one of the most gorgeous piazzas in Italy. The shopping is rather striking too.
This journey embraces the philosophies and practice of Patanjali’s eight limbs of Hatha yoga, the philosophies and practice of Yin yoga, and the philosophies and practice of mindfulness meditation. This retreat will be themed and is based on the qualities of humanity. You will have all the time in the world, to reflect, restore, and to have fun!
Annemaree Rowley is one of the warmest, calmest, funniest, and most inspirational people you will ever meet. Educated at the highly esteemed Sivananda yoga schools in Europe and India, Annemaree is both a teacher and perpetual student of yoga. She currently studies Shanti yoga under the guidance of internationally renowned yoga master, Shanti Gowans.
This retreat will take place in a peaceful, awe-inspiring country house between Catania and Siracusa in Sicily, Italy, all within an hour's drive from Catania, Siracusa, Noto, and Mountain Etna.
Everyone loves Sicily for its glorious fusion of cultures and intriguing history. Ancient Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans, and many more have left their unforgettable traces resulting in a plethora of magical sites with an exuberant array of architectural styles, delicious food, and delectable wines. Everyone also loves Sicily’s mild and short winters. They adore its springs that start as early as February and its summers that can run lovingly all through to November.
You can reach the largest and most varied island in the Med in just a three-hour flight from the UK to any one of its four airports. Sicily’s landscape is famously diverse, ranging from lush and fertile farmland to barren desert dunes, with stunning volcanic formations.
Mountain Etna, Europe’s largest active volcano, stands tall and mighty. It is flanked in the winter by skiing slopes complete with ski lifts and incredible sea views and magnificent scenery, whilst offering many attractions and memorable opportunities for trekking or cycling, should you like to take advantage of either or both! The larger cities, like Palermo and Catania, are both by the sea brimming with bustling and important ports, engaging universities, great shopping, and throbbing nightlife.

The food and wine are to die for in Sicily, Italy. Based on simple and fresh local produce, it is often organic without the local inhabitants even knowing the meaning of the word. The land is dotted with wineries awarded prizes for their fine wines.
You will be served with daily buffet continental breakfasts catered for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. You will also enjoy light lunches and light afternoon snacks. When touring, you will be feasting out for lunches. For dinners each evening, you will have it at the villa, while on warmer evenings, you will enjoy an al-fresco dining.
There is a complimentary Lomi Lomi massage given during this retreat. You are also able to enjoy massages and use the dry sauna and hammam on five afternoons.
Please book your flight to arrive at Catania–Fontanarossa Airport (CTA). Transfer from airport is included. Sicily à la carte will pick you up from the airport.
