There are 12 rooms within the ashram itself, equipped with all the necessary facilities for the comfort of the visitor. Pure drinking water is provided by a rain water collection tank, and there is a solar heating system for consistent hot bathing water.

Rooms in the main house are equipped with contemporary, luxurious, European bathroom facilities, and cotton sheets on single or double beds. If your stay is planned for the winter months, air conditioning is not required.

Within the outer wall is a Dharamsala (pilgrims rest home) providing additional basic accommodation as well as a spacious newly constructed meditation hall for yoga practice.

Ashrams usually represent a return to a simpler way of living, which is very different to a hotel. Generally there is a more communal atmosphere and often an expectation that guests will pitch in with whatever needs doing.

Shri Jasnath Asan is a 500-year old ashram on the edge of the Thar Desert handed down through the Hatha lineage from one guru to the next. Yoga classes are Monday to Saturday from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. with another relaxing session in the evening before dinner.

This is an experiential, residential retreat and workshop which emphasizes ancient yogic healing theories and practices. Housed in a desert oasis of green trees, gardens and lawns, the days are filled with:

  • Yoga theory and practical classes beginning at 6 a.m.
  • Ayurveda diet and nutrition lectures with personal dosha assessment
  • Yoga therapy consultation and instruction
  • Cooking demonstrations and a cookbook of traditional recipes
  • Karma yoga
  • Inspirational reading and film
  • Self reflection exercises
  • Private meditation
  • Nightly puja and sastsang (song, music, dance, and spiritual discourse)

The curriculum is designed around the five pillars of Hatha yoga:

  • Proper exercise
  • Proper breathing
  • Proper relaxation
  • Proper diet
  • Thinking and meditation
