This program benefits the body and mind by removing energy blockages, balancing the chakras, and regulating energy distribution throughout the body. Yoga strengthens the body and clears the mind from the inside. You will learn the Hatha Vinyasa and Hatha Shanti yoga sequence, which you can further continue to practice on your own afterward.
Massages function as acupuncture for the nadis / nerves from the outside and balance blood circulation and immune system.
The philosophy class is based on the ancient philosophy of yoga, Vedanta teaching, Patanjali Sutras, Shiva Sutras, Bakti yoga, chanting, and japa mala (mantra repetition). You will receive a book of Patanjali Sutras as a gift to explore and as a support for your spiritual practices of yoga.
During the noon meditation session, you will be exploring different types of meditation techniques, such as pranayama or breathing exercises, since that is where the relaxation starts and that is how you can unwind from stress. Food is one of the paths to optimal health, but can also bring disease. In modern living, changing lifestyles, increased stress, and improper food combinations result in ill health, weakened immunity, chronic conditions, and lack of energy and vitality.
Oftentimes, if one seeks modern medicine to alleviate such problems, the problems only compound since the root of the imbalance is not addressed. The traditional medicine path of Ayurveda offers a path forward, something that addresses imbalances at their root and treats the whole body. Ayurvedic medicine is a system of traditional medicine native to the Indian subcontinent and practiced in other parts of the world as a form of alternative medicine.
In Sanskrit, the word Ayurveda consists of the words yus, meaning longevity, and Veda, meaning related to knowledge or science - essentially the science of life and longevity. Evolving throughout its history, Ayurveda remains an influential system of medicine in South Asia. The earliest literature on Indian medical practice appeared during the Vedic period in India. Over the following centuries, Ayurvedic practitioners developed a number of medicinal preparations and surgical procedures for the treatment of various ailments and diseases. Shiva Rishi Yoga looks forward to sharing this knowledge and practice with you at their center. Their yoga teacher, Shivaji, will provide body alignment and special attention to everyone, with care and respect.
Please note that the afternoon program and times will vary daily depending on the type of activity (excursions, massages, etc.). Thus, when there are trips planned, your afternoon schedule will start earlier than 16:30.
Shiva is the founder of Shiva Rishi Yoga. He is a yogi who has trained in various styles including Bihar School, Sivananda, and the teachings of Patanjali, and his sadhana (life practice) reflects one fully dedicated to the yogic way of life. By placing practice within the context of Indian culture and philosophy, Shiva's classes are an ever-deepening experience of the true tradition of yoga. Shiva says, "only when the mind is focused in its subtlest form, you can realize your true self and the ultimate aim of yoga is accomplished."
Dr. Anish is an Ayurvedic doctor (BAMS) and he will teach you anatomy classes. Here you will also discuss the benefits of asanas, how to address specific problems, or what to avoid during that time. Moreover, he will introduce you to the ancient healing science of Ayurveda, which ideally complements the yogic practices.
