During this retreat, you will be staying at InSabina, a beautiful 17th century stone villa surrounded by flower laden vines with simple, natural style bedrooms, that feel calm, cool, and restful. If you’re a nature loving yogi with a sense of adventure, you can stay in one of the yurts instead.

With its spectacular views and magical setting, the retreat villa lies in the midst of the Italian countryside less than an hour from Rome. There are three wonderful terraces from where you’ll enjoy breathtaking sunsets, beautiful meals, and star-filled skies.

Start the day with a vibrant Vinyasa flow yoga class. This fluid, dynamic, and invigorating form of yoga will leave you energized and glowing! In the afternoon, you’ll love the deeply calming and Restorative yoga class. A mix of Yin, Hatha, and Restorative styles. You’ll float out of these classes feeling revitalized and relaxed.

Your yoga classes will be filled with accessible teachings and ideas to inspire you and help you reconnect with what’s important to you and to feel so good about yourself. You’ll also experience meditation sessions and guided relaxations to leave you feeling serene, centered, and with a new perspective on meditation. There are two stunning spaces for yoga; an incredible outdoor yoga platform and a serene indoor yoga room overlooking the hills.

Your yoga teacher and Shine Yoga founder, Jennifer Austin, passionately believes that yoga classes should feel fun, relaxed, and inclusive. She loves to create exciting, flowing, original classes with careful sequencing in a joyful atmosphere. Her classes include laughter, new challenges, wisdom, music, meditation, poetry, and anything else she can think of to make you feel really good.

Over the retreat, there will be 10 yoga classes of 90 to 120 minutes each. You will have one day with no classes to take a longer day trip or to rest. Arrive any time after 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017. Dinner will be served between 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. The first yoga class of the week will be on the Sunday morning. Checkout is at 10:00 a.m. on the following Saturday, June 24, 2017.

    Rishikesh Yog Peeth Yoga Alliance RYT 200 (Hatha Yoga)

    Jennifer traveled to the birthplace of yoga, Rishikesh, India, to study traditional Hatha yoga and gain her 200-hour RYT certification at Rishikesh Yog Peeth. After her teacher training, she continued to teach and practice while traveling the world and experiencing many different styles and methods of yoga, Hatha and Ashtanga yoga in India, Vinyasa flow in Sri Lanka, Iyengar in the Caribbean, and Anusara in Thailand. After trekking through the Himalayas, she studied meditation in Nepal and in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, she trained in Thai yoga massage.

Daily breakfast, lunch, and six dinners are included in the price. You’ll be in food heaven with mouth watering, healthy, vegetarian meals that include loads of fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden. You can even pick your own herbs from the array growing in the poolside herb garden then make your own herbal tea at the outdoor tea station.

For a whole week, you won’t have to spend a moment worrying about shopping, cooking, or what you should be eating. You’ll enjoy three beautiful and nourishing meals daily, seated around an alfresco dining table. Please note that one meal during the evening out is not included in the price.

During your stay in Italy, you can soak in natural hot springs, meander through beautiful ancient medieval towns, then shop for the world’s best olive oil. Enjoy an evening out, sip an Aperol Spritz at sunset in Casperia before a delicious meal in a fantastic local restaurant.

Set out directly from the villa into the incredible countryside and enjoy the tranquil beauty of your surroundings as you follow one of the many walking routes. Enjoy a day in Rome or Orvieto, exploring the incredible architecture, piazzas, fountains, cute cafes, and a lot of gelato with your new friends. For those who wish to be independent or to explore the area, it is strongly recommended to hire a car at the airport.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Fiumicino - Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO). Transfer from and to the airport is available upon request. There will be a group mini bus pick up from this airport to the retreat venue at 3:00 p.m. on the arrival day and from the retreat back to the airport at 10:00 a.m. on the departure day.

You are suggested to arrange your flights and wait at the airport if necessary to be able to join this. The costs will then be shared between all passengers in the group and are normally around 20 GBP per person.

If you have to travel separately, the following fees apply. The pick up from the airport by car or minibus will take about 1.5 hours. By car, it will cost 120 EUR for up to three passengers with a small amount of luggage. By minibus, it will cost 170 EUR for up to eight passengers or 250 EUR, for nine to 16 passengers.

Arrival by train

The nearest train station is Stimigliano train station, about 20 minutes drive from the retreat venue. From Fiumicino - Leonardo da Vinci International Airport (FCO), the journey will take you about 1.5 hours. You can take a train from directly inside the airport. Go to the train station inside the airport. Follow the signs to the "Stazione". Buy a 11 EUR-ticket for Stimigliano (the Orte train).

The Orte trains leave at 58 minutes past the hour and takes one hour and 47 minutes to Stimigliano. Before you reach the platform, validate your ticket by inserting it in one of the yellow machines to be stamped. When you know which train you will be on, please contact Shine Yoga. Get off at Stimigliano where a car or minibus will pick you up. The stations are not well signposted so be alert and aware of the time.

From Ciampino Airport (Ryanair, Easyjet), you will have to take bus, metro, and train. The journey will take about two and a half to three hours. Take the airport bus to Termini station in the center of Rome. In Termini, follow signs to the Metro (M) and take Linea B to Tiburtina station (four stops). At Tiburtina, buy a ticket to Stimigliano (the Orte train) for 3.60 EUR.

The Orte trains leave at 47 minutes past the hour. Before you reach the platform, validate your ticket by inserting it in one of the yellow machines to be stamped.

When you know which train you will be on, please contact Shine Yoga. Get off at Stimigliano (58 minutes from Tiburtina) where a car or minibus will pick you up. The stations are not well signposted so be alert and aware of the time.

Once you've arrived in Stimigliano train station, you will be picked up by car or minibus. The journey from the station to the retreat venue will take you about 20 minutes. If you are coming by train you must call or text Shine Yoga on the day when you know which train you will be on.

The price of pick up by car is 25 EUR for up to three people with a small amount of luggage, pick up by minibus is 25 EUR for one or two people (or 10 EUR each for three to eight people). Please note that after 10:00 p.m. and before 7:00 a.m., the minimum charge is 35 EUR.

    "I went to the shine yoga retreat in Cornwall last weekend. It was everything I wanted and more! Excellent teaching; idillic location and fantastic food. The only slight down side were the horse-flies who thought I was tasty but that can't be helped. Staying in the yurt was so much fun and it was comfortable and spacious. The farm is a bit tricky to find but some local people kindly helped me. There is plenty to see and do outside the camp, I really recommend a trip to Lantic Bay. I attended the retreat independently As did most of the other members of the group. Jen, the instructor, fostered a very positive attitude within the group and over a short time we really bonded. There was a fantastic community feel about the retreat. All in all it was wonderful and excellent value for money. Go, go now!"

    "I attended the Yoga retreat in France in 2014, it had so many levels, invigorating and restful, amazing food and fantastic company. Jenny's Yoga classes were fantastic, suiting the beginner as well as the experienced Yogi or yogini. I loved it so much that in 2015 I also did one of the amazing Cornwall retreats staying in Yurts, ultimate glamping, with Swedish hot tub which was amazing after a yoga class. The food was amazing, delicious and skilfully prepared and cooked by Jenny. I strongly recommend these retreats, in fact I love them so much I am going on the Morocco retreat in March can't wait."
