Learn this ancient yoga system from the Himilayan region of Nepal, the land of Tantra. Tantra is the ancient science which uses specific techniques (yoga practices) to expand and liberate the consciousness from its limitations. Its practice gradually brings about the awakening of kula kundalini (cosmic power) that is dormant in everyone. When kundalini becomes activated she moves through the chakras creating transformation bringing out our highest potential. Finally Kundalini unties with higher consciousness in the crown chakra bestowing us with pure bliss. Tantra offers a 5 Yoga System that gradually prepares the body, mind and spirit to reach enlightenment. Join us for a yogic journey that will give you the essential tools to integrate and go deeper into your yoga practice while reaching higher states of consciousness.
Shanti Yoga Ashram is a vibrant blend of ashram, children’s school, and home. The vision for the ashram is to provide a nurturing environment for spiritual seekers to learn, develop, grow, and contribute to their own spiritual growth and the growth of others. It flows with the rhythms of life and is an ideal place to learn the art of acceptance and surrender, which lead to a permanent state of equanimity, the ultimate goal of practicing yoga.
The ashram's homestay setting is surrounded by the splendor of nature. Yogi Prakash and his family welcome guests into their kitchen and their living space. This affords a cozy environment conducive to spiritual practice, where those who stay at the ashram can get a taste of authentic yogic lifestyle along with traditional Nepalese culture.
There are a few private rooms and shared dorm room facilities, available based on current occupancy. There is warm running water for bathing, powered by solar energy, and unlimited fresh drinking water. Electrical outages are part of life in Nepal; however, it is easy to adapt since there is solar energy for heating water and gas or fire for cooking. Wi-Fi and battery-powered lights are offered all day.
Life in the East flows with the rhythms of nature instead of by the numbers on a watch. While we do our best to keep to our daily routine we also believe in remaining flexible, going with the flow and accepting what each day brings. Below is our typical day at Shanti Yoga Ashram.
Prakash is the founder of Shanti Yoga Ashram, has been dedicated to yoga since childhood. He studied at the Bihar School of Yoga where he received initiation from Swami Niranjanananda. For the past 10 years, he has continued to deepen his knowledge in Nepal with Swami Shivalingam, Tantra Yoga Master. For the past 18 years, he has been fully immersed in teaching yoga both at home and abroad. He has circled the globe introducing the deeper aspect of yoga practice.
This retreat will take place in Machchhegaun, Kathmandu, Nepal. Shanti Yoga Ashram is nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas with a picturesque view, less than one hour from Kathmandu; it is the perfect sanctuary to go deeply into the essence of yoga.
The ashram is located in a small town outside of Kathmandu, so you will be able to learn yoga within the context of Nepalese life and Eastern culture, the womb from which yoga was born. If you want to learn classical yoga with spiritual depth and experience traditional Nepalese culture, this homestay yoga ashram provides a unique and authentic opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the land of Tantra, where yoga was born.
