From the moment you arrive, the retreat provides ample space to either relax in the rooms, courtyard or terraces or to simply soak up the sun by the outdoor pool. The lobby is an informal space, complete with library and comfortable Balinese sofas and armchairs, looking out through the ceiling to floor windows to the panoramic view of the surrounding pine forests and mountains, offering a unique perspective of Andalucia. It's the perfect place for guests to relax and enjoy a healthy juice or herbal tea.
The 14 bedrooms at Shanti-Som Wellbeing Retreat consist of 12 premium rooms and two junior suites, making it a beautiful boutique hotel near Marbella, but certainly well away from everyday life. Following the philosophy of east meets west, all 14 rooms have been individually designed with attention to detail including marble luxury en-suite bathrooms, fine linens, flat screen TV, and stylish furnishings and accessories including bath amenities, bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer, safe, etc.
The private terrace or balcony is the ideal place to relax and absorb the surrounding nature of the pine forest and mountains. The suites are a private heaven with four-poster beds, fine linens and soft furnishings, large terraces overlooking the oriental gardens.
The Pilates method offered at Shanti-Som is based on fluid movements performed with control, which is essential for the use of breathing. The method aims to strengthen, improve body flexibility, increase the range of motion, and teach you the proper breathing method.

Pilates combined with yoga movement will correct the incorrect postural habits and improves body alignment. It will improve coordination of movements and sense of balance. Nathalie was born and raised in Amsterdam. In 2008, she moved to Spain with her family where they live a remote idyllic spiritual life. She originally has followed a three-year course in Transformational yoga at yoga center Sai Mithra, in the center of Amsterdam. Transformative yoga is a unique combination of Hatha yoga postures, a consciousness of the chakras (energy center), meditation, and relaxation. She has studied the more detailed approach to yoga as developed by D.K.S. Iyengar and learned to teach in the more invigorating yoga styles Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga.
Lyma’s first introduction to yoga was in 1999, and for the past 13 years, she has been interested in Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa flow, Anusara yoga, and Zen meditation. She successfully completed the teacher training program through The Integral Yoga Academy and is registered with the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) of The Integral Yoga Academy in Yogaville, Virginia, USA. Her love for teaching gives her the gift to create a space where students feel empowered to safely explore the gifts their yoga practice can offer, both on and off the mat.
Javier is the personal trainer of Hotel Shanti-Som Wellbeing Retreat. In 2001, he has finished his training in physical education, has acquired knowledge of expression, body, acrobatics, aerobics instructor, and anthropology among others, which has developed ever since. In 2014, Javier graduated as a Pilates instructor. He uses mat and machines as a reformer, Cadillac, chair wunda, spinal correction, and other accessories in his techniques that will help a lot in rehabilitation.
