Villa Constantine is situated on the sunny southern coast of Spain, perfectly located between the mountains and the seaside for a retreat-like vibe, not too far from the city. The villa itself is nestled into the Spanish hills, a beautiful wonderland where human meets nature, nature meets heart and heart meets soul. The serenity of this Spanish countryside is blissfully unique, providing a place to retreat in nature. The spacious, modern rooms are beautifully decorated, and each space in the villa adds its own little flavour to the course. Join the group for morning yin practice in the wooden yoga shala, spread out in the lounge for theory sessions, chill out by the pool during your breaks, and enjoy the view over the mountains during mealtimes.
Shanti Atma Yoga is an international Yin yoga teacher training school, founded and directed by Becky Khalil. Although based in the UK, Becky and her teaching team travel the world to offer these specialist Yin yoga and wellbeing related retreats and courses throughout Europe, Asia, Australasia, and Latin America.
Shanti Atma Yoga is committed to the experiential learning of students in a safe, nourishing, and positive environment while offering a holistic experience of the essence of Yin yoga, not only a class. Shanti Atma Yoga is proud in the certifications that are given upon completion of a course to students who now pay forward these beautiful teachings. They are glad to share their experience with you in this course.
The core belief of Shanti Atma Yoga is that self-love, self-care, positivity, and taking a moment for yourself is the greatest healing one can have. Becoming in alignment and truth with your raw, true, and real self towards abundance is where the beauty begins. They invite you on this journey of exploration with them, which is a marathon and not a sprint.
Shanti Atma Yoga strongly believes in staying in alignment with the ancient science of yoga as well as the modern theories and research that still arise today in anatomy and the mind.
Becky found her true path in Yin yoga on the very first minute of her first Yin class. Its hidden connection to the five dimensions of the body (physical, mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual) in particular demonstrate to her how many layers deep you can work to empower the body, mind, spirit, and soul connection.
Shanti Atma Yoga has a driving passion for sharing the way that Yin yoga can be the basis of slowing down and finding Dao in life. This has always been a driving force for extended research and special workshops. The Chinese 5 Elements give Becky and her teaching team a lifetime supply of inspirational ways to create classes, workshops, and retreats to make yoga accessible to all types of body, mind, and spirit.
This is the main practice of the day and is Yin yoga with mindfulness and meditation. The first week will have a strong focus on the functional approach to yoga, targeting the physical body incorporating physical target areas and myo-fascial release. The second module will have a strong focus on the energetic approach to yoga, targeting the energetic dimension of the body, adding the Chinses 5 elements into Yin yoga asana.
This is the juicy bit of the course where you will have the opportunity to intricately break down the components of Yin yoga and reveal what it all means. In the first module, you break down skeletal variation and dive deep into fascial studies.
The second module is an introduction to Chinese Medicine, 5 Elements, and Qi (energy, prana, Ki, vital life force). Some of the theory classes will have supporting educational videos and workshops to accompany the lecture. This session is to give you the scientific and theoretical foundation needed for a deeper understanding of experiential Yin yoga.
These classes are where we will breakdown what it means to teach Yin yoga. This is the ‘how to’ and the ‘why’. You could call this the ‘behind the scenes’ of yin yoga teaching. The art of teaching is a discussion-based class and participation from students is welcome and encouraged. Asana breakdown is a practical class where we break down the Yin yoga asana (target area, cueing, propping). This requires small group work from students for experiential learning. This session is ultimately about you and to build your teaching expertise.
The evening practice incorporates a multitude of inner practices that range from Yang styles of yoga and movement to a meditation circle.
The course is split into two informative modules:
Arrival time shall be between 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., ready to start the course at 5:00 p.m. The course shall finish around midday on the last day.
The Spanish feeling is one that cannot be forgotten. With beautiful weather and a sense of lingering warmth deep into the evening, it is easy to embody Spain’s energy. With local fresh Mediterranean food, this little hot spot for a yoga training is one that manifests health and wellness, naturally and effortlessly. Begin the day walking bare foot and end the day with dipping your feet in the pool and connecting to Mother Earth.
