Shankar Prasad Organic Farm and Ashram, Behind Anand Ashram High School, Bankikodla Village, Hannehalli, Taluka Kumta, Karnataka, 581319, India

Yoga Retreat India

Come to our little piece of paradise. Learn and practice meditation from the Tantras as taught in the Satyananda Bihar Tradition, practice daily asanas, pranayama, chanting and meditation, and experience living a spiritual life. Learn how to meditate, and explore the depths of your consciousness through a wide range of meditation practices that will give you a firm foundation for your whole life.

It is for beginners and adepts. Alongside our daily classes, Shankar Prasad offers a variety of workshops. In the ashram, we follow ‘simple living and high thinking’ along with organic farming and the playschool. Shankar Prasad is not a resort, guest house, or a hostel.

The ashram holds an open, loving atmosphere of diverse individuals who function much like a spiritual family. We eat, chant, meditate, sing, learn, work, and play together.

This program assists you in establishing a daily routine of health and wellness or to deepen your existing yoga practice. It is designed to help you reconnect with yourself.

If you book early then you can choose the course form the following options (one of them)

  • Ajapa Japa (meditation on the breath with mantra), Chakra Shudhi (purifications of the Chakras), Chakra Sadhana (practices to awaken the chakras - 2 week course), Tratak (gazing meditation on candle / ocean / sunrise / sunset / flower), Nada Yoga (meditation on sound, listening, singing through the chakras, chanting, silent sound), Antar Maun (reaching the space of silence by learning to witness the mind and senses).

During your stay, you will take part in daily classes, which are suitable for all levels, and practice asanas linked with the breath to revitalize the body, mind, and spirit. Each morning flow will leave you energized for the whole day, while the afternoon yoga Nidra helps you to explore your deeper consciousness.

Yoga Nidra

Yogic dreaming - the hallmark of Satyananda Bihar School of Yoga and the most popular and enjoyable of the meditation from the Tantras. It is a lying down relaxation meditation which systematically takes you from the world of outer sounds step by step through body, breath, and mind to your deep subconscious to release negativity, tap into creativity and positivity and explore your deeper consciousness connecting to your higher consciousness.

Asana and pranayama sadhana session

The morning is an ideal time to connect with the body and breath and calm your mind through asana. Asanas for fitness strength and flexibility, suitable for beginners, adepts and therapy. Pranayamas to balance, energize and focus. You will get daily practice, adapted to your needs, that you can continue by yourself at home.

Mantra chanting

Morning and evening mantra chanting sessions cleanse, focus and fill the mind with positive energy. In the evening there is a short group meditation followed by Kirtan (singing spiritual songs) or Satsang (spiritual discussions on truth). All are welcome to join or simply enjoy the vibrations.

Karma yoga

This is a special session where you get to participate actively in ashram life, in the garden, in the kitchen, helping in the office, housekeeping, etc. Karma yoga is the best way “to find the higher self you must lose yourself in the service of others”, this is Karma Yoga, Seva.
