On this retreat, you will be staying in Sewall House Yoga Retreat located in Island Falls, Maine, USA. It is a historical house which runs yoga retreats since 1997. It has six private bedrooms where five of them have antique full-size beds and the other one has a queen size bed. Four of the rooms have full private bathrooms while the other three have shared bathroom. Apart from the free wireless internet access, this beautiful retreat venue also has a sauna and one person jacuzzi bath.

Program

In this retreat, the experienced Tina Fish will guide you to enjoy amazing paddleboard yoga classes. No prior experience is needed. Anyone from a beginner to a more experienced practitioner can attend the retreat. Because the classes are small and personalized, the instructors will meet you at your level and work from there.

The morning silent meditation is an option. The afternoon class offers chanting and breathing meditations. As with the yoga, you can go as deep or as preliminary as you wish. Many of the practices at Sewall House Yoga Retreat are to introduce or further your practice so that you can decide what to include in your lifestyle when you return home.

This retreat will take place in the wonderful town of Island Falls in Maine, USA. Island Falls is a small community experience filled with breathtaking scenery, sporting adventure, pristine lakes and ponds, and fine dining. Island Falls also offers a four-season experience and is located right off I-95; a winter wonderland of tranquility where families come to enjoy some of the finest ITS snowmobile trails.

The retreat venue is located in the northern part of the large Maine state, in the southern part of Aroostook County, known for Baxter State Park, Mount Katahdin, and surrounding lakes. It takes a 1-hour and 15 minutes’ drive from Bangor and 3 and a half hours drive from Portland to arrive at the venue.

The bordering town in the United States is Houlton, Maine (passport required). You can drive easily from New York City, Boston, or Canada to get to the retreat place. In Canada, the bordering town is Woodstock, New Brunswick which is 92 kilometers west of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.

The fresh air of northern Maine along with its wildlife, lakes, hikes, and the embrace of the home will allow you moments in which you can step back from your daily hustle bustle. Food

In this retreat, you will be served with daily healthy vegetarian breakfast, lunch, and dinner in keeping with your yoga practice. The meals that are offered are mostly organic, ample, tasty, and prepared on the premises. Homemade items such as gluten free granola, bread, jams, nut butter, fruits, yogi tea, coffee, and yogurt are also served for breakfasts. Usually, eggs or pancakes are offered during weekends.

For the main dishes, veggie burgers, chili soups, or different types of curries are on the menu for you. The dinners are followed by desserts such as cookies, brownies or raw desserts. Most of the food is naturally gluten free and vegan options are ample. If you require all meals to be gluten free, a charge of 10 USD per person, per day applies.

Please inform Sewall House Yoga Retreat beforehand about any food allergens that you have. For drinks, coffee and tea including homemade caffeine-free chai (the original yogi tea) are offered. Alcohol is not served but you are free to bring your own.

Recommended Airports

Driving direction from Portland

  • Drive north on I-295 which becomes I-95 North near Augusta.
  • Continue on I-95 to Island Falls and take exit 276, take a right off the ramp.
  • Veer right at Bishop's store where you see the electronic clock on route 159.
  • Sewall House Yoga Retreat is the first house on the left after you veer right (2/10 mile off I-95 North).
  • You will see a white house with a Sewall House sign in the front yard.
  • Sewall House Yoga Retreat is next to the post office.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Bangor International Airport (BGR) or Portland International Jetport (PWM). Transfer from and to these airports is available upon request. The cost is 110 USD and 180 USD respectively.

Arrival by bus

You can take a bus from New York City or Boston with an easy change in Bangor at 6 p.m. to Sherman. In Sherman, you contact Sewall House Yoga Retreat to pick you up (at an additional charge).

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
