If you have never tried it before, let Sedona Mago Retreat assure you that it’s not just for yogis who twist their bodies into pretzel shapes. Meditation is for everyone! Wherever you are on the contemplative continuum, the energetic vibration of Sedona will accelerate and deepen your practice.
This Tao meditation retreat offers opportunities to meditate and reflect individually, as well as with a group. Explore your inner landscape deeply, then join with others and receive new perspectives, experience the support of community, and just have some fun.
This introductory session will provide a framework for your transformative weekend. You will experience mindful breathing, gratitude, tapping, and specific movements that will anchor your awareness in the present moment and ground your meditation experience.
You will also contemplate the questions: Who am I? What am I? What is an effective meditation practice? How can I manage my mind and body and what do I really want to change?
You will begin your retreat by exploring the energy within. The serenity of Sedona Mago Retreat provides a sanctuary to explore your inner landscape. Today’s meditations and exercises will help you to ground yourself in the present moment. Early risers can enjoy an optional morning Tao energy class before breakfast.
Morning sessions will be about on-site nature meditation at Sedona Mago Retreat. There are no ringing cell phones and no honking horns. Instead, all that you hear are rippling bird songs and gentle breezes that cradle you in a cocoon of serenity and envelop you with the fragrant mist of solitude.
In this quietude, you are able to look within and reflect on what it is you want to let go of, what you wish to bring into your life, and how to listen to your true voice. You will learn the five basic minds for a good meditation and practice. They work like spiritual fingers for your sacred journey within.
During the afternoon sessions, you will go through a chakra healing exercise. Chakras are power spots in human bodies, just as vortexes are the power spots of the earth. Here, you will learn about your body’s energy system (physical body, energy body, and spiritual body) and how to access more vitality. You will learn about two different aspects of your being and identify, and about any conflicts which may be causing blockages around your chakras.
Chakra activation and purification will give your meditation a tangible texture and deepen its creative aspects. The simple, yet unique method will allow you to open, activate, and balance all your chakras. Now you are not only in peace, you are peace.
During the evening sessions, you will experience a movie night, together with a healing sound journey. Enjoy a movie which will awaken your consciousness and then immerse yourself in a meditative healing sound journey. You will become one with the musical harmony of the universe, as you explore your consciousness with healing vibrations that transport you deep within.
The afternoon includes free time and meditation opportunities at some of the most panoramic vistas and vortex sites of Sedona and Red Rock Country. By connecting to the unique energy of each location, you will take in the healing energy that you need for transformation. While in nature and with nature, you will discover that you are nature and will experience the energy of the red rocks, trees, water, and sky of Sedona.
You will also have free time in historic Uptown Sedona to have lunch and explore the sites and shops. In the evening, you will shut out the outside distractions and do a silent meditation. This can be a turning point. You are bombarded with many different kinds of stimulation on a daily basis. As you shift from looking outside to looking inside, you’ll discover a deeper aspect of your being.
You will continue to open to the love and support nature provides; reflecting on what you have gained, and planning how your life will be different as a result. The final session ends before lunch.
The day begins with an early morning session of sunrise meditation. It’s a transformative experience that words can hardly express, when you observe the sun slowly peeking up over the horizon amid the stunning red rocks of Sedona.
The play of light and shadow is magnificent, and your heart and soul are touched, as you become part of a scene that has played out over and over again throughout millennia of earth’s existence. It’s one of the most sacred moments of the Sedona meditation retreat.
Now it is the time to reflect on what Sedona has unfolded for you, how you have responded and, very importantly, how to take it all back home. You have become more mindful of your thoughts, emotions, and actions. You smile more and look forward to what the moment has to offer. Now it’s time to return to your place in the world with more confidence and a renewed passion for your life.
After four days of the Sedona meditation retreat, you realize that the real sacred space is actually not anywhere on the soil of red rocks. Rather, it is in your soul, the part of you that is eternal and unchanging. If you feel that your heart has been touched in Sedona, it is because your perfect immutable soul has awakened.
Your task on your spiritual quest is to uncover that part of yourself that is eternal and to let it shine in the world. By observing your conscious mind, you will discover that you are a being with limitless possibilities. Sedona’s sacred spaces are simply a reflection of that which already lies inside of you. Here in Sedona, mother earth magically embraces you to enter the sacred place inside your own heart. Come to Sedona and be yourself!
Sayong Kim has been the COO of Sedona Mago Retreat since 2002. Earlier in his life, Sayong developed sciatic neuralgia and suffered from back pain for over ten years. While various Western and Eastern healing modalities helped, they could not cure his pain. He started practicing Sun Tao, and his back healed in less than three months. This changed the course of his life. Sayong’s goal is to share Tao principles and practices and to develop Sedona Mago Retreat into the top retreat center in the country.

Full-board meals will be provided throughout your stay. Sedona Mago Retreat provides guests with three delicious meals every day, offering a variety of food options at each meal to help meet your dietary needs. They recognize that each individual has different nutritional needs and are confident that they can accommodate most people when given reasonable notice.
The meals you will enjoy in the dining hall contain not only the nutrients provided by the earth, but also the loving energy of the people who prepare them. The meals are prepared from scratch, and the focus is on fresh. Whenever possible they source non-GMO, organic, and local produce to supplement the seasonal fresh fruits and vegetables.
The dining hall’s buffet line labels each menu item identifying options that will meet the needs of the guests following gluten free, soy free, vegan, or dairy free diets. While they are not always able to customize menus for each individual, Sedona Mago Retreat do try to provide enough options to satisfy your nutritional and dietary needs.
If you are concerned about your personal needs, please feel welcome to bring any supplemental food with you that you feel you require. Each guest room offers a mini refrigerator for your use. Please note that cooking in guest rooms is not allowed.
While most of what they make and serve in-house is gluten free, and they do their best to maintain that in the kitchen, Sedona mago Retreat cannot guarantee an entirely GF environment. They use a variety of sauces and mixes that can negatively impact a celiac sufferer. Please be mindful of this, and carefully read the posted menu and all labels available.
Food is a precious gift from mother earth. Bless the food with joy and gratitude before you eat. Take time for a prayer of gratitude to heaven for creating life, to the earth for growing it, to humans for preparing the food, for keeping life flowing in you.
When you eat, chew well with a peaceful mind then you can intake not only nutrients but also the blessed energy of the food. Close your eyes (or look down your nose), and feel the chewing. Chew over 30 times before you swallow.
Slowly swallow the food and sense the food coming down to the center at your lower abdomen. When you eat and breathe please remember the energy of the earth and of heaven becoming integrated as one within you. Feel grateful for life and consider how to use your energy to repay the blessings of heaven and earth, and benefit the world and humanity.
You can enjoy private healing and acupuncture sessions for an additional fee.
