You will be living right across from the beach, where the retreat is housed, in an elegant 1920’s apartment villa. The studio and therapy center occupy most of the home of Johann and Sandra, have sea-views and share a mutual courtyard with the beach bungalow behind it. The beachside strip of Muizenberg with popular coffee shops, beach bars, surf rentals, and Surfer's Corner is just across the road.

Two rooms are available, both en-suite, one with a double bed and one with two single beds. Each room is joined to a small recreation area, one with a dinner table and chairs, one with a lounge and fireplace. An additional single bed in the adjoining, private dinner room makes accommodation more flexible. A small courtyard for relaxing and meals is available should the weather allow it.

Muizenberg is a coastal village and suburb located 20 to 30 minutes drive from Cape Town city centre and Table mountain. It is backed against the slopes of the Table mountain belt, about halfway between the city and Cape Point. Plant and animal life, great hiking trails, the temperate Southern Atlantic ocean, historic Kalk Bay, a quaint seaside village, are within walking distance and offer many coffee shops, galleries, and points of interest. There is also a train service with regular departures to the city centre and Simon's Town, near Cape Point.

The healing yoga and therapy programme

Cranio-sacral therapy and yoga focus on healthy spine and systemic vitality for greater well-being. The two modalities form a superb combination to release and process the impact of stressful living and trauma, and unlock the body’s natural healing intelligence.

You will take part in an exceptional, themed yoga program based on instructor Johann Kotze’s guide "Thrive Naturally – Get into the Zone", and Johann’s powerful, comprehensive, and easy to implement system to evolve your well-being to a next level.

A culture of lifestyle fun and accepting self-responsibility for one’s health will be encouraged. You will learn how use basic essentials of yoga on a vision quest for greater health, including meditation and mindfulness to develop wisdom and consciousness but also to integrate what you practice at the retreat into your day-to-day living back home.

All levels, beginner and experienced, are welcome. The practice levels are customized to serve the best interests and requirements of the attendees, according to individual and group ability, after initial personal evaluations and interviews.

There will be free time for resting, own exploration of the immediate area, surfing, swimming, or hanging out at a seaside cafe or restaurant. You are welcome to attend the regular yoga classes at the center and Johann’s nearby sea-view studio at no additional charge.

Course level

The aim is to share with you a fulfilling, rejuvenating experience in a magical part of the world. You do not have to be fit and strong, or know much or anything about yoga for the do-able, accessible daily routine of meditations, yoga classes, workshops, treatments, one-on-one sessions, and group discussions or coaching. Additional activities for surfing and other fun activities are optional but also not excessively demanding. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to learn.

Easy rejuvenation style

The yoga classes are in a simple, effective Vinyasa flow Hatha style that will get the body moving and strong. Power flow sessions depends on participant abilities. Restorative, deep relaxation, deep healing yoga, and Nidra (deep relaxation) opens and closes the retreat practices.

Mindfulness practice is part of a daily sitting, a simple, accessible practice combined with breathing techniques. You will learn to go within for inner peace and it's outwards manifestation.

The workshop program will lead participants through a series of aspects specific to the retreat, to ground your vacation in a practical, simple, extraordinary experience of the life transforming potential of yoga.

Evening satsang, talks, and discourse

The talks add theories and ideas to the ground covered in the daily practices and workshops. Seeking wisdom through satsang is as much at the heart of yoga as asana practice, pranayama, and meditation. It is a tool to guide participants to a clear, open ended, undogmatic understanding of how the yogic philosophy of “understanding self” leads to richer, healthier, and life affirming living.

Personal evaluation

An evaluation of each individual’s ability, intentions, and expectations helps a lot with assisting each course participant to make the best of the retreat opportunities.

One-on-one instruction

Personal training sessions, at the beginning and end of the week help maximise each participant’s individual opportunities to acquire performance skills or increased the remedial (yoga therapy) value of the retreat. Personal attention from an experienced professional trainer is a vital component in the pursuit of health and excellence.

Physical bodywork and energy, meridian based treatments are necessary for the resolving of lifestyle stress and life trauma, large or small. It is also an important to support the body’s self-maintenance mechanisms with hearings arts practices.
