Yin yoga is a beautiful practice that takes you on a journey into your inner world. Through the practice of Yin, you start to understand the world through stillness and softening. Yin helps to turn inwards, tune in, and listen. When you can understand yourselves, you can start to understand the world around you. Yin practice on the mat teaches how to practice stillness off the mat. You start to understand that there is a pause between action and reaction. Yin teaches resilience, how to bounce back from challenges and how to breathe through life.

During this training, you will be accommodated at Tres Palmas. It has four suites and a loft for your sleeping arrangements. There are two 700 square feet king suites and two 800-square foot queen suites. The two queen suites also have an attached bedroom for families. All suites have full private baths, alfresco showers, and your own private veranda that overlooks the Pacific Ocean.

There is the loft in the rancho with two queen beds and two single beds with mosquito nets, although you need not use them. Altogether, the villa can sleep 20 guests.

Program

Different maps in life

This 50-hour basic Yin YTT gives you tools to start offering the gift of Yin Yoga. In this course, you will gain a deeper understanding of what Yin Yoga is and why one should practice it, benefits on the mind, body, and soul.

After this training, you will have the knowledge of how different ancient wisdom of shamanism from Peru, Ayurveda from India, and traditional Chinese Medicine can help in understanding the practice of Yin in a mental and physical level. You will understand how different ancient wisdom and maps can be introduced into your own practice and into your teachings. How to create an intention and weave that into your class.

Even if teaching is not on your radar, you will benefit from this course by gaining a basic understanding of the anatomy of the human body and how you can cultivate the different approaches and ancient wisdom of shamanism, Taoism, and Ayurveda in your daily life and in your (Yin) yoga practice on and off the mat.

The course outline

The course schedule is intense and will cover many things. There are morning breaks and lunch breaks but the days are packed, to offer you as much as possible in the time that you have together.

The seven-day, six-night course follows the Peruvian Medicine wheel, which is based on the four archetypes of the human being: the Serpent, The Jaguar, The Hummingbird, and The Eagle. These four archetypes cycle the training to move from your body, to navigate your mind, through your soul to the essence of your spirit. During these six days and four cycles, you will dive deep into your transformational journey through Yin yoga.

The days will start with meditation and asana practice. Followed by a breakfast break. In the morning classes before lunch, spend learning about Yin yoga, the different approaches “maps” (meridians, Chakras, and shamanism), and the anatomy related to Yin yoga practice. After lunch, dive deep into philosophy, learn about dharma and what makes a “good dharma talk” and in your asana clinic, look into the poses and learn about the poses, how to teach them, instruct, and adjust and use props.

Daily practice

In this training, you will enjoy different types of Yin yoga practices daily. You will receive two yoga classes daily, morning asana practice of 90 minutes with 30-minutes meditation and 75 minutes in the evening chill class. During the training, some of the morning practice will be Yang style practice, as you know that you need to understand Yang to understand Yin. The evening classes will be chill Yin classes.

At the end of the training, you will teach a 60-minute Yin yoga class for your peer. You will walk away with three different Yin yoga sequences that you can share with your students, one for each of the maps that they are talking about: Shamanism, Tao (TCM), and Hindu/Chakras.
