Come and join this Yoga Teacher Training held at School Yoga Institute home, the Mystical Yoga Farm, on the magical Lake Atitlan in the Highlands of Guatemala! The yoga farm is a serene landscape, surrounded by volcanoes, lush greenery and healing waters. You are invited to step into the quiet stillness of mother nature, allowing her to nourish you and guide you back to the home in your heart. School Yoga Institute teaches faculty with great experience and expertise in all areas of the program. In this Yoga Teacher Training, you will learn the art of teaching, yoga sutras, yoga anatomy, and many more. You will be served vegetarian food, all prepared with love.
School Yoga Institute is an extended family of yoga teachers and practitioners who have deeply experienced the beauty and ancient wisdom of yoga and who feel inspired to share that wisdom with others. Within the context of SYI yoga teacher training courses (YTTCs), they share their understanding of the ancient teachings, through the yoga sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Vedanta, Upanishads, Tantric yoga, Mayan prophecies, Greek mythology, and Lao Tzus Tao Te Ching, as well as modern spiritual teachings of Eckhart Tolle, the Dalai Lama, and others. Most importantly, they share their understanding of how to integrate these concepts into our daily practice in the form of health, healing, and transformation.
The Mystical Yoga Farm is a very unique place that offers a special opportunity to live on the land and with nature, as you take rest from your everyday life and immerse yourself in the practice of yoga. The Mystical Yoga Farm is home.
The Mystical Yoga Farm is a self-directed spiritual community that is focused on self-sustainability, growing fresh organic food, growing healthy yogis, teachers and healing practitioners. The desire is to heal the earth and its inhabitants through connection with nature and Spirit, the source of all of creation.
The Yoga Farm is a secluded, private property only accessible by boat. It sits at the base of a volcano and is surrounded by magical forests and healing waters. We are an Eco-Rustico Retreat Center that is off the grid; utilizing filtered water, composting toilets, solar hot water, and solar electricity.
They have a variety of sleeping accommodations, including four newly built private rooms, two private cabins on the upper land, two private waterside cabins in the lower land, two open shared dormitory cabins, one large attic dormitory, camping options, and a floating boat house.
They share meals in the Rancho and practice in a new-built Yoga Shala with breath-taking views of the Lake on which we live and the volcanoes across the water. Meditation occurs on the dock as we watch the sunrise over the volcano.
This place is a rare gem, a peaceful oasis like nothing experienced before; perfect for the inward journey you seek to embark on. As well as being the perfect location for contemplation during your teacher training, the farm shares its beauty in many ways during your free time: from gardening and coffee picking, to swimming in the cool waters of the lake and sauna in our traditional wood-fired temascal, from feeding the chickens and stirring the compost, to volcano hikes and local village trips.
Whether you prefer adventure or simply relaxing in a hammock with a book from their spectacular conscious library, the Mystical Yoga Farm is the perfect location to let go of all of your daily responsibilities.
During the training, you wake up while the sun rises and experience the beauty and serenity in the midst of this magical setting. Guided group meditation starts at 6 a.m. Meditation is followed immediately by asana (yoga posture) practice. It includes pranayama, asana, and relaxation.
In the afternoon, there will be an art-of-teaching workshop. They also have lectures, discussions, and activities that cover yoga philosophy, yoga theory, yogic living, yoga diet, yoga anatomy, and yogic healing. They end the day with after-dinner Satsang (wise gathering) to contemplate and reflect on their sadhana (spiritual practice) of the day.
They teach Sadhana yoga - the yoga of spiritual practice, teaching both Hatha and Vinyasa flows. School Yoga Institute honors all traditions of yoga and has incorporated into the 200-hour teacher training program two foundational sequences that will allow students to develop any style of class they desire to teach. The two sequences they teach are a Vinyasa flow and Hatha flow based primarily on the Ashtanga and Sivananda sequences respectively.
The approach is contemporary and eclectic. They bring to life the ancient teachings of yoga through daily practice and practical application into our lives. During the 200-hour teacher training program you will:
Anita’s life mission is living and cultivating a life of balance in serving others. She was born in Mysore, India, and presently learns to play the harmonium to weave in the essence of sound with yoga. To experience her classes is to immerse oneself in the nourishing elixir of life and taste the magic of self-transformation. Anita’s passion for Ayurveda and yoga weaves an alchemical blend - a trinity of yoga, breath, and sound melting into beauty, rasa, and stillness. Her foundation began in the Iyengar tradition and has been layered with the wisdom of Ayurveda.
Krystalyn, ERYT 300hr, holds two life coaching certifications based on sattvic and esoteric principles. She has passionately lived and thoroughly investigated postural alignment, body mechanics, yoga therapeutics, and internal martial arts for over a decade. In a search to uncover her own body’s unwinding process. The roots of her journey began with a search for more holistic solutions to the suffering of physical and mental pain that you all seem to experience at some point in your life.
Flavia was born and raised in Zurich, Switzerland, where she lives at the moment. Her love for other cultures, traveling, languages, and movement brought her all around the world. After a year abroad in Scotland in 2014, she decided to take her interest in movement and the body a step further and completed a Pilates instructor course in Bern, Switzerland, while finishing her Bachelor’s degree in English literature and art history at the University of Zurich.
Camilah was born and mostly raised in Kansas City, Kansas. Yes, there are two Kansas Cities, KCK, and Kansas City, Missouri. Growing up in the lesser-known of the two, she knew she needed to see and experience other places and things. This led her to New Orleans for undergrad, where she majored in Psychology. Being completely unmoored after graduating, she went back home to work and for grad school, earning a Master's degree in Social Work.
All of the food is vegetarian and prepared with loving hands. Their humble vegetable garden nourishes them as often as possible while the rest of our food comes from the local farmers of our neighboring villages. They share two main meals per day, with a light snack at lunch time.

Transfer not provided
Fly into the airport in Guatemala City (airport code GUA).
From the airport, you can go directly to Pana and take a boat to the Farm, or you can spend the night in Antigua and travel to Pana the next day.
If your flight arrives before 13.00, you have a good chance of making it to the Farm in one day. You can book a direct shuttle from the airport to Pana. It is about a 3.5-hour drive.
Setting up a transfer from the airport to Antigua is easy. You can email your hotel to set it up, or you can email a shuttle company directly. The cost from the airport to Antigua is 10 USD.
You can typically schedule these shuttles at any tour agency or even at the hostel you are staying at.
From Antigua to Pana there is a shuttle at 8.00, 12.30, and 16.00. It is about a 3.5-hour shuttle ride. The price is typically 8 USD (60Q).For people who are staying at the International Mochilero, walk across the street to the Casa Amarilla (yellow house) and get a shuttle to Lake Atitlan for Q60 or 8 USD. We took this shuttle and it was fine.
One thing we heard is that people should not go through the Plus Travel Agency for shuttles, especially to Atitlan. There is a road that is washed out so you have to take a detour and need a good reliable 4wd vehicle.
