Savista Retreat is a peaceful destination in rural Rajasthan. With spacious outdoor and indoor venues, it provides an ideal setting for yoga teachers and practitioners. The focus is on wellness, yoga, organic food, and offering the experience of local culture, craft, and architecture. The accommodation offered is elegant and comfortable and set amidst nature, creating a tranquil environment for relaxation, yoga, and meditation.
Whether you are an enthusiastic practitioner or an eager-to-learn entrant, the peace and stillness at Savista offers an excellent environment in which to hone one’s yoga and meditation practice. The lawns, amphitheater, rooftop, sundeck, or indoor lounges all offer a wide choice of locations for individual or group lessons/practice.
Savista offers its guests the unique experience of learning textile hand block printing as taught by the traditional artisans of Bagru who have been practicing their craft in this location for at least 350 years, ever since they migrated here due to an environmental disaster in their previous location (the history of the craft itself goes back several thousands of years to the Indus Valley Civilisation). The quality of the local water, soil, and plant resources all had a role to play in the evolution of the craft as it is practiced now in Bagru.
Guests opting for this experience will learn to print on cotton fabric, using hand-carved wooden blocks of their choice, and custom-made vegetable and mineral-based dyes.
This is offered on the Savista premises itself, and a traditional hereditary village potter is in attendance. It involves learning the age-old craft using methods that have remained unchanged for centuries. It is a roughly three-hour class.
This is a 2-hour class in which participants typically learn to cook a selection of dishes. The experience of cooking unfolds amidst lively discussions about the condiments and spices, nutrition, and balancing of tastes and textures that go into preparing a tasty Indian vegetarian meal.
