The Yosemite Bug Rustic Mountain Resort is like nothing you have ever seen. Nestled on a hillside, the Bug has cabins, tent cabins, and hostel dorms scattered around the property, so be prepared to do a bit of walking. Each cabin has a unique themed decor ranging from western to retro. You never know what you're going to get. The Bug is open to the public and other groups. So expect other people to be around and a lively atmosphere. There are trails and many places around the property for peace and contemplation including the creek, swimming hole, and waterfall that is flowing in Spring and Summer. Think adult summer yoga camp with amazing food, awesome spa amenities, and friendly staff.
Satya Shala Yoga has been using the larger Bodie room for their retreats since Covid. This room is not a normal yoga room but offers tons of space for social distancing and privacy. All props are available.
The spa is a beautiful relaxing oasis. There is a chemical-free hot tub, sauna, and cold rainwater shower. There are massages and private soaks available at an extra cost. Herbal tea and water are available. Occasionally, it can get a bit social for hikers returning from the park to soak in the tub and chat about the day's adventures.
Explore restoring practices, including gentle and Restorative yoga, meditation, yoga Nidra (conscious sleep), and a special sound bath. The retreat will take place in Yosemite Bug, 26 miles from Yosemite National Park in Midpines, California.
The Yosemite Bug is on a hillside with surrounding trails through the natural landscape. In Spring, enjoy the beautiful greenery and wildflowers on the path to the seasonal swimming hole and waterfall a short hike from your cabin. Soak in the silence and peace of the forest.
All meals are included in the package. The restaurant at the resort is amazing and locals come there to eat because there is a lot of good food in the area. The food package includes breakfast, dinner, and a bag lunch to take to the park.
A lot of the produce comes from the venue's organic garden. They have a new menu daily and there is something for everybody. There are always at least 3 vegetarian options and 1 vegan in addition to meat and seafood. Seriously some of the best food you will ever have, and no exaggeration.
The June Bug Cafe offers fresh, creative meals and is known as a favorite amongst locals and guests. A changing menu is available, offering meat, seafood, vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. All meals are chef-prepared using local and organic ingredients as much as possible. They even have a garden on the property. They bake their own pies and cakes as well.
The property has trails around the property. It leads to a beautiful swimming hole with a mini waterfall that is great for swimming or lounging on the rocks. Merced River is close by offering swimming and rafting. Yosemite is 26 miles away and takes about an hour to drive to. It's very visitor-friendly with easy-to-hard hikes and can get crowded in the Summer. Just driving through the Valley floor is amazing. There is also a little Western town called Mariposa about 8 miles away from The Bug.
Yosemite National Park is 26 miles away which takes about an hour to drive. Park entrance fees are 33 USD per car for 3 consecutive days. Park reservations may be required due to limited park entrance.
Doing a loop around Yosemite Valley will give you views of all the main attractions. Hop out and explore the many walking paths and hikes throughout the park. Otherwise, rent a bike for the day and enjoy the park on wheels.
Take the Yarts Bus to Yosemite from the Bug. Entrance fees are included in the ticket price. Reserve your ticket in advance through their website.
