Join a decadent yoga escape to the rolling countryside of south west France. Satvada Retreats is taking exclusive hire of an ancient chateau, nestling in 100 acres of ancient hills and woodland. Enjoy daily yoga and meditation classes, delicious local cooking, and, of course, time to rest and breathe.
The maximum participants in the group is 16.
During this retreat, you will be staying in Bardouly, a meticulously restored seventeenth century chateau in rural south west France. The chateau is nestled in 100 acres of wonderful gardens woodland, hills, and meadows. There is a total absence of road noise, neighbors, and ambient light pollution. The chateau beautifully balances tradition with contemporary design. The ten en-suite bedrooms are all different in style and feel, split between the main house and the characterful Pigeonnier.
Along with all the outside space, common areas include two light, beautifully presented living rooms for relaxing or chatting, and an original paneled dining room. There is a long outdoor table for al fresco meals.
The Pigeonnier, which overlooks the swimming pool, has a character all of its own. Retaining the high standard of accommodation in the main building, it houses two of the ten bedrooms and boasts tall, lovely large windows and its own private lounge and kitchen.
Please note that the bedrooms are all different in character and features, some with baths, some with showers, and a few with both. Satvada Retreats have divided the rooms into two broad categories, pricing the smaller rooms (with standard, rather than extra-large beds) at a lower rate.
Within these two categories, rooms will be allocated at random. Each bedroom comes with a hairdryer and iPad and iPhone docking station.
You will have yoga classes twice daily, for 90 minutes each. Weather depending, you'll enjoy these sessions either on the outdoor garden platform or in the dedicated yoga studio. Yoga mats are provided.
Each morning class will be mindful Hatha flow yoga, tailored for all levels of experience, from beginners to the more experienced. Evening sessions will be a calming blend of gentle yoga and mindfulness meditation. The teacher for this trip is Lucia Cockcroft, an experienced retreat teacher with a decade of experience teaching meditation and yoga.
The organized guided walks will be straight from the door, and will take in the full range of the area's beautiful surrounding scenery.
Just to experience the stillness and greenery of this environment is to feel calmer and more alive, and the walks - led by a local guide with intimate knowledge of the area - will allow you to experience the fullness of this in a mindful, steady way.
Walks will be arranged across three mornings.
Lucia has been practicing yoga and meditation for almost 20 years, and teaching for ten. With a background in wellbeing journalism, she re-trained as a yoga teacher after seeking a less desk-bound lifestyle. Lucia has trained intensively with leading yoga and meditation teachers. She is passionate about the ability of yoga and meditation to transform how she feels physically, energetically, and emotionally.
This retreat will take place in Dordogne, France.

The menu on this retreat will be local and French in flavor with a healthy vegetarian twist. You'll enjoy local cheeses, olives, and (if you wish) wine, with the three delicious meals a day, which are lovingly prepared the host venue's talented local chef. The chef family also owns a small vineyard and so provides a great opportunity to experience some of the local wines.
Satvada Retreats regrets that they will not be able to cater for strict gluten or dairy-free diets on this retreat.
You can sit by the pool on the comfortable lounge chairs in a completely private secluded area and swim in the deliciously heated pool.
