The morning class will be dynamic Hatha flow yoga, with different options given for different levels of experience. Satvada Retreat is taking exclusive hire of one of their favorite Marrakech-center riads: a beautiful, friendly old mansion, designed - as with all traditional Moroccan riads - around a central courtyard.

The riad is in the heart of the evocative Marrakech medina, yet (due to its position near the Royal Palace gardens) an extraordinary sanctuary of peace and quiet. Typically, you'll hear nothing but the call to prayer and birdsong upon waking. The venue has just five lovely, individually designed rooms, a large roof terrace (brilliant for our yoga classes, sun-bathing, reading or snoozing) and a small roof-top plunge pool.

The aim is to strike a balance between down-time and relaxation during this long weekend. Daily morning yoga will be at about 8.30-10.00, after which you will enjoy a buffet brunch. Then, the whole day is your own (to explore the souks, have a massage or hammam, or sunbathe on the roof terrace), until tea and cakes at 16.00, and the evening yoga and meditation class at around 17.00. Dinner will be served at around 19.30 each evening, and there is one evening free for you to find your own restaurant.

Instructors

Lucia Cockcroft
Lucia is a co-founder of Satvada retreats and sister organisation, Yoga At The Mill, a highly regarded yoga and mindfulness studio in Chelmsford, Essex. Lucia has been practicing yoga and meditation for almost 20 years, and teaching for ten. With a background in wellbeing journalism, she re-trained as a yoga teacher after seeking a less desk-bound lifestyle. Lucia has trained intensively with leading yoga and meditation teachers. She is passionate about the ability of yoga and meditation to transform how she feels physically, energetically, and emotionally.

Satvada Retreats chose Marrakech, Morocco for its sublime gardens; the surrounding snow-topped Atlas mountains; the color and life of the ancient medina; the city's seductive mix of old and new; the dazzling spring light and sun and the wonderful food.

Spa treatments

Satvada Retreats have arranged for each guest to have a complimentary 30-minute on-site massage, during which aches and pains will be soothed away using oils.

There is a lovely spa a few minutes' walk away, where you can indulge in a hammam and other beauty treatments. You can also book additional treatments (a massage, for example) at your own expense.

Satvada Retreats recommend Easyjet or British Airways. Ryanair is also an option. Direct flying time from London-Marrakech is 3 hours and 20 minutes.
