Themes

1. Pradosh Vrat - bringing balance to the world

Pradosh Vrat celebrates one of the most exciting legends in yogi lore, Sumudra Manthan, the churning of the ocean. This story explains the inherent balance of creation maintained by opposites in all things. The devas (gods) and asuras (demons) band together to churn the ocean of milk in search of Amrita (divine nectar). In the process, they unearthed Halahala, the deadliest of poisons. Shiva, the most powerful yogi, steps in, drinks the poison to contain it, and saves the world from its destructive powers.

In yoga, the worst "poison" is maya, the illusion that you are separate from your fellow beings and therefore can follow any direction your mind chooses to take. Shiva is there to show you how you can overcome this illusion and be of benefit to all beings. New to yoga? An avid practitioner? Either way, this is the perfect opportunity to learn the incredible depth and breadth of what yoga has to offer. Join them for a day of celebration with live music, amazing food, enlightening discourse and discussion, illuminating ceremony, and insight. All uniting you in your true purpose as human beings.

2. Summer solstice festival

Get ready to soak up the sunshine and bask in the glow of life itself at the annual summer solstice festival. Join them for a day of pure joy and vibrant energy as you come together to honor the ancient wisdom of yoga and the radiant light of the summer solstice. Get ready to indulge in delicious vegan delights that nourish the mind, body, and soul, setting the stage for a truly transformative experience. In ancient yogi mythology, the sun is personified as the powerful deity Surya, revered as the source of life and light.

The summer solstice represents the peak of Surya's strength and influence, as the sun reaches its highest point in the sky, illuminating the world with its radiant energy. Yogis take advantage of this uptick in energetic influence to enhance the world. From yoga classes to yoga intensives, dive deep into a tradition that is over 5000 years old, allowing the light of the solstice to inspire radiant illumination into your life. Release your worries as you surrender to the peace that resides within all beings.

As the day unfolds, you will gather around the sacred fire for an ancient traditional Dhuni ceremony as you honor the transformative power of the solstice. Release and receive this powerful energy and take it into your life and emanate goodness to the world. They have singing and dancing, followed by an evening at the sauna. Let the traditional music of India carry you away as you connect with the rhythms of cosmic consciousness through kirtans and bhajans.

Mark your calendars and join them for a day of pure bliss and celebration as you honor the wisdom of the ancient yogis and embrace the light of the summer solstice. Come together in love and gratitude, as you bask in the glow of life's infinite possibilities.

3. Guru Purnima

They extend their heartfelt invitation to you for the Guru Purnima festival celebration, a time to honor and celebrate the profound wisdom of all revered gurus. The meaning behind Guru Purnima: What is a Guru? In Sanskrit, "Guru" means "the dispeller of darkness." It embodies the essence of guidance, enlightenment, and wisdom. As the metaphorical finger points to the moon, a guru directs you toward the light while you navigate through the darkness of your mind. In the context of yoga philosophy, darkness symbolizes not negativity, but rather ignorance or lack of understanding that burdens humanity.

The guru serves as a beacon of knowledge, illuminating your path and dispelling the shadows of ignorance. Guru Purnima is an annual celebration of the birth of gurus worldwide. Join them as they celebrate the birth of their Guru, Baba, and take part in honoring the profound wisdom and light that he offers. It is a joyous occasion to come together, express gratitude, and bask in the radiance of knowledge and spiritual guidance. Your presence will enrich their celebration and make it truly special. Join in communion as they pay homage to the timeless teachings of the Guru.

4. Raksha Bandhan Festival

Join them in commemorating the beautiful festival of Raksha Bandhan, a celebration that encapsulates the essence of brotherhood, sisterhood, and the enduring bonds of love and protection. In Sanskrit, "Raksha Bandhan" translates to "bond of protection." It symbolizes the sacred relationship between siblings, where sisters tie colorful threads (rakhi) around the wrists of their brothers, signifying their love, affection, and a promise of protection. Raksha Bandhan is not just a festival; it is a joyful reminder of the unconditional love and support shared between siblings.

It is a time to cherish the memories, strengthen the bonds, and express gratitude for the protection and care bestowed upon each other. Come and be a part of this heartwarming celebration as you honor the timeless tradition of Raksha Bandhan. Rejoice in the bond that unites you, regardless of distance or differences. Together, weave a tapestry of love, laughter, and cherished moments that will last a lifetime. Your presence will add warmth and joy to your celebration. Come together to celebrate the beautiful bond of Raksha Bandhan and create unforgettable memories.

5. Ganesh Chaturthi - clearing your paths through yoga

Join them as they celebrate the birth of Ganesh, the remover of obstacles. Ganesh Chaturthi is a day for reverence and reflection. Ganesh is associated with knowledge and science, wisdom, and prosperity (among other virtues), as well as a playful spirit and fierce conviction. He also symbolizes the scientific principle of matter. For yogis, the gods are manifestations of the qualities you seek to absorb and embody to make life better for all. Join them to discover how to bring yoga into your life to find deeper knowledge and greater fulfillment in all things.

Ashram festivals are a remarkable opportunity to join a group of people living the ancient, traditional way of life yogis have followed for thousands of years. Travel back to a time centered on what matters most in life, step back from what has become the “norm” and embrace a very old way of honoring life. This is a day of inspiring intensives, illuminating discourse, uplifting ceremony, incredible food, and live music.

6. Navaratri - embracing Shakti, healing the earth

Every autumn season they celebrate Navaratri: a festival spanning nine nights honoring the Divine Mother, Shakti. During this time, you are called to reflect on your interconnectedness with all life forms and the power you possess to shape the world around you. Shakti, the cosmic energy that drives the growth and movement of the universe, reminds you of your responsibility to live in harmony with nature and each other.

In today's world, your collective actions have led to environmental crises and other challenges. Yet, amidst these challenges lies the opportunity for transformation. Navaratri offers a platform to celebrate your potential to align with Shakti, to become agents of positive change, and to heal the Earth rather than harm it. It is a time to embrace your innate capacity to create a more sustainable and compassionate world.

Whether you are new to yoga or a seasoned practitioner, Navaratri provides a unique opportunity to explore the profound teachings and practices of yoga. Join them for a day of celebration filled with live music, delicious food, enlightening discussions, and illuminating ceremonies. Together, unite in your shared purpose as stewards of the Earth and agents of positive change.

7. Diwali - celebrating the triumph of light and goodness

This year's Diwali celebration invites you to bask in the radiant glow of victory as you honor the triumph of light over darkness, and good over evil. Embrace the timeless tale of Lord Ram's valorous conquest over the forces of darkness, a narrative that resonates with hope and inspiration in today's world. Join them as you kindle the flames of joy, compassion, and wisdom, illuminating the path to a brighter tomorrow for all.

8. Winter solstice festival

As the winter solstice approaches, you come together to honor the inherent goodness that resides within every being. This auspicious day marks a turning point in the changing of seasons, symbolizing the transition from darkness to light. As the days gradually lengthen and the sunlight grows stronger, you are reminded of the promise of renewal and the return to brightness. At the ashram, the winter solstice holds profound significance as you gather to connect with the ancient wisdom of yogis who have walked this path for millennia.
