Overview

Yoga teacher training course (200 hours) is an intensive teacher training in classical Hatha yoga and Raja yoga. The one-month intensive residential course is unique as it offers students the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the study and practice of classical Hatha and Raja yoga while experiencing daily life in a highly spiritual atmosphere. The course is based on the ancient traditional gurukula system in which the students live with their teachers and learn to live a healthy lifestyle mentally, physically, and spiritually.

It is intensive and requires a tremendous amount of discipline as students not only learn the theory and philosophy of yoga but also practice asanas, pranayama, yogic kriyas, and meditation on a day to day basis as the aim of the course is to encompass the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of yoga.

Yoga therapy

Yoga therapy is the use of yoga postures, pranayama, meditation, and lifestyle changes to help the body naturally heal and balance itself. The seed of all desires according to yoga is ‘Adhis’. It is at the manomaya level the imbalances start. These imbalances amplify themselves resulting in a mental illness called Adhis. At this level, there are no symptoms at the physical level. But due to the wrong lifestyle, these Adhis breed physical disorders called Vyadhis. Yoga can enable one to relax fully and promote sound sleep.

It also improves digestion and stimulates blood circulation. It frees the practitioner physically and mentally. Yoga creates a perfect balance between body, mind, and soul. Although yoga has proved to be very effective in the treatment of many diseases, the therapeutic effect of yoga is only a by-product and the final goal is spiritual wellbeing. They have developed many treatment modules in dealing with diseases like diabetes, hypertension, digestive disorders, kidney problems, obesity, asthma, constipation, heart disorders, insomnia, and all other psychosomatic disorders.

Vinyasa yoga

Vinyasa (dynamic) yoga is a form of dynamic yogic exercise combining fitness training with stress release in a single dynamic workout. Vinyasa means movements from one pose to the other coordinating breath.

Meditation

Meditation is the most important aspect of yoga. Meditation is the seventhAnga of Ashtanga yoga of Patanjali. It is a gateway to the inner world. There may be different practices to reach the ultimate goal. But the end is the same, that is self-realization. Besides, meditation has amazing physical and mental beauty. They are training their aspirants different techniques of meditation such as concentration meditation, mindfulness meditation, simple meditation techniques for beginners, transcendental meditation, Upasana meditation, Osho meditation, and so on.

These meditation techniques will naturally prevent the lopsided growth of the human mind. It will help gain mastery over the mind by adding the dimension of cessation of thoughts. Not suppression but sublimation. Not just learning to concentrate and focus but to invoke the skill to calm down the mind of the aspirants.

Naturopathy

Detoxification and enhancing pranic force in the body called naturopathy. Naturopathy and yoga are two wheels of a cart. Apart from yoga and natural living, there is no medical treatment that can provide complete health knowledge in naturopathy and nature living makes everyone self-depended for one’s own health. Naturopathy is not just treatment but a way of life. A naturopathy workshop is conducted in which the yoga aspirants are given a basic understanding of the philosophical and practical aspects of naturopathy.

Extensive information is imparted on the quantity and quality of food to be taken. The session gives emphasis on one of the basic practices of yoga i.e. proper diet. Practical preparation of a variety of food items with the active participation of the students will be a spectacular experience for all the participants. A number of items like aval savory, herbal juices, different types of soups, uncooked payasam, etc. are prepared as a part of the workshop. The students arriving from the different parts of the globe have a great interest as they are actively participating and improving knowledge in these preparations.

Pranayama

Pranayama is the fourthAnga of Ashtanga yoga. Pranayama means extension and expansion of prana or vital energy. One can control the rhythm of pranic energy with pranayama to achieve a healthy body and mind. It strengthens the physical power, controls the turbulences of the mind, and awakens consciousness.

The practice of pranayama achieves by balancing the activities of the prana which results in strengthening the physical, mental, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual potentialities of the aspirants. The participants are given thorough knowledge in the thematical and practical aspects of a large variety of pranayama techniques.

Kerala traditional art forms

Kerala is a land of arts and festivals. Kerala has an enriched tradition of arts and cultural forms. They introduce Kerala traditional art forms like Kalaripayattu, Theyyam, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, BharathaNatyam, etc. to the participants. The traditional Kerala art forms are really a visual treat for all art lovers.

Included excursions

During this course, you will be going on sightseeing trips, nature walks, and a backwater cruise. Sightseeing trips are arranged as part of the course at Santhi Yoga International. Tourist destinations like Kumarakom backwater cruise, Illikkalkallu, very popular tourist spot apt for hilltop meditation and yoga situated about 6000 feet above the sea level, which is one of the highest peaks in the Western Ghats and Vagamon, one of the most visited hill stations known as the Scotland of Asia are visited during the training program.

IllikalKallu

IllikalKallu is a major tourist attraction in Kottayam, Kerala, around 25 kilometers away from the yoga school. Situated about 6000 feet above the sea level is also one of the highest peaks in the Western Ghats. It is an incredibly beautiful location that is made all the more fantastic with the presence of a huge rock looking like a designed one, but not. Trekking to the nearby site of this huge rock will be an amazing experience for all nature lovers.

Vagamon trekking

Vagamon is a hill station located in MeenachilTaluk, Kanjirapally, and Peerumeedu of Kottayam and Idukki districts, known as the Scotland of Asia. Vagamon is a very popular tourist situated 3900 feet above sea level. Kurishumala Ashram, pine forest, Marmala waterfalls, Thangal Para, Murugan Mala, and Vagamon hill are the important places to visit. An off-road journey through the forest area with loft hills will be a memorable experience for all participants. The meditation conducted by them on the top of the hills would be a lifetime experience.

Kumarakom backwater cruise

Kumarakom situated 13 kilometers away from Kottayam is a sleepy little village on Vembanad Lake in Kerala. The village is laced with canals. The bird sanctuary is home to many migrant birds and inhabitant birds like cuckoos and Siberian storks. The backwater cruise through Vembanad Lake would be an amazing experience.
