Anahata cabana

Anahata is a Sanskrit word meaning “heart-lotus”, the perfect name for this beachfront cabana, as it is the core of our spirit, nestled in the heart of Sansara.

This tranquil master bedroom suite is located on the ground floor, and steps away from sinking your toes into the warm black sand. Inside this beautiful cabana includes one king bed, and a handcrafted twin bed for an optional third guest.

Luxurious textures and delicate color palettes create a warm and welcoming stay. This cabana is equipped with a tastefully designed open concept bathroom, private patio, and outdoor shower to rinse the salt-water away. Anahata is outfitted with luxurious bath products to soften your skin, high quality linens, air-conditioning, mini fridge to keep your refreshments cold, and safety deposit box to stow your valuables away.

Casa Antigua cabana

Warmth and character surround this beachfront cabana. Located directly across from Sansara's yoga studio, this room was designed to inspire serenity. The zen-like atmosphere of this cabana blends seamlessly with the lush nature and quiet beauty of the properties grounds.

Inside you will find a beautifully featured wall with 100-year-old reclaimed interlocking antique wood that has been artistically placed, accompanied with hand crafted drift wood furniture, luxurious textures and a delicate color palette.

This room is sure to create a warm and inviting feeling during your stay here at Sansara. This private cabana is equipped with one king sized bed, or an optional two twin configuration, private patio, outfitted with luxurious bath products to soften your skin, high quality linens, air-conditioning, mini-fridge to keep your refreshments cold, and safety deposit box to stow your valuables away.

Cedro Espina cabana

Cedro Espina is the Spanish name for Spiny Cedar and the perfect name for this tree house inspired second storey cabana. Located oceanfront and amongst the treetops, you can enjoy the views from your private balcony; the perfect place to re-establish your connection with nature and watch the sunset paint the sky in a bright array of colors.

Inside your private room, you will find indigenous wood ceilings, beautifully laid slate tiles, all which join together as pieces of art. This room is outfitted with two queen canopy beds, fine linens, organic bath products, air-conditioning, mini-fridge to keep your refreshments cold, and safety deposit box to stow your valuables away.

Ganesha cabana

The most private and luxurious suite, the Ganesha cabana is truly a magical room to lodge in with your significant other. Located directly in front of the Pacific ocean and right next to the pool, this romantic cabana allows you to wake up to the view of the most magnificent surf break and outer reefs directly in front of Sansara.

There's no better way to start your day then to sip a cup of coffee underneath your private terrace, or end your adventurous day with Ganesha's large stone and subway tiled shower, equipped with all organic hand made soaps to soften your skin, or cuddling in the plush king-sized bed with fine linens and five star pillows.

Inside this private cabana receives sunlight from all directions, beautifully handcrafted tropical wood ceilings, and handcrafted drift wood furniture to place your belongings. They honeymoon suite will leave you wanting to move in forever. Hanuman cabana

Built with love by the local artisans from Cambutal, the Hanuman suite is elegant and comfortable, including two handcrafted king sized beds, a large stone and subway tile shower with double sinks, and a huge covered outdoor patio which is right next to the pool and steps away from the Pacific Ocean.

This cabana is a perfect getaway suite for the family or friends of four, as the two king sized beds can be converted into four twin sized beds. You will find inside this beautiful room the handcrafted tropical wood ceilings, handmade drift wood door separating the washroom and suite, and handcrafted drift wood furniture to place your belongings. Peaceful, relaxing, and luxury are the perfect words to describe what you can expect when lodging in the Hanuman suite.

La Marea cabana

Boasting with such beautiful and dramatic tidal changes in Cambutal, this was the perfect name for one of Sansara's oceanfront, luxurious cabanas. This private cabana is accessed by a hand-laid stone pathway that meanders through the leafy vegetation. This ground floor cabana comes equipped with custom pieces designed by the owners and hand crafted by local artisans from the countryside.

La Marea comes with a very large private terrace with a nice view of the surrounding trees along with the sounds and view of the ocean's tide. Ranchito cabana

Bringing the relaxing and revitalizing atmosphere of the beach to this artfully designed loft cabana, Ranchito is the perfect getaway room for friends or family. The local artisans of Cambutal have incorporated the traditional techniques of using renewable materials such as clay tiles, local woods, and palm leaves to create this special cabana. This spacious room offers the best atmosphere to kick back and relax.

The Ranchito cabana is equipped with two king sized beds, which can be converted into four twin sized beds, a private terrace facing the luscious tropical vegetation and exotic plants, fine linens, organic bath products, air-conditioning, mini-fridge to keep your refreshments cold, and a safety deposit box to stow your valuables away.

Rio Chico cabana

Rio Chica Cabana is a ground level cabana at Sansara Surf and Yoga Resort that encompasses all this and more.Designed and decorated to reflect a tropical atmosphere and Cambutal's beachy vibes, this room provides a peaceful getaway.

This room incorporates the traditional techniques using renewable materials such as antique wood furnishings and beautifully crafted stoned showers to wash the salt away. Rio Grande cabana

Each cabana at Sansara offers personal touches for a stay that defies the ordinary. However you are coming all the way to Cambutal, so why not go big with the Rio Grande cabana. This vibrant and playful second storey cabana is both warm and welcoming. The plush-king bedded cabana provides the perfect respite for a day out in the surf, ocean or on the yoga mat. With a private roof-top terrace, this space allows you to keep tabs on the local surf breaks, and watch the sunset and sunrise.

Amara dePaul
Amara’s yoga journey started in 2008, and after experiencing the powerful practice of Baptiste yoga in 2012 and its ability to transform, she knew she wanted to share that with others. In June 2014, Amara completed her 200-hour RYT certification at BIG, and another 200 hr through Baptiste Yoga. Additionally, Amara has been pursuing certification as a leadership and goal coach through igolu with Susanne Conrad in Santa Monica, Ca. For Amara, yoga gives access to leaving behind her comfort zone, finding new areas for growth, and getting out of her head and living her life to the fullest!
Katie Highsmith
Katie went to her first yoga class in 2012 and immediately fell in love with the practice and the power it had to completely transform every day. The physical, mental, and emotional benefits of her yoga practice have left Katie with a deeper appreciation of and increased passion for the life she is creating. She completed her 200-hour RYT certification in June 2015 at BIG Power Yoga in Houston and can't wait for the next opportunity to expand her knowledge, love, and growth in her practice. Since then, Katie has also attended Baptiste Art of Assisting and has been involved in her TT studio!

Sansare Resort is located in the beach community of Cambutal. There are minimal shops on the beach, which is part of the appeal. However there are some local corner stores, a coffee shop, and few great restaurants nearby. The closest neighboring town (20 minute drive) is Tonosi. There you can find bank services (ATM), bigger grocery stores, and a few clothing store options.

Sansara is situated beachfront with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean at your doorstep. Enjoy the ease of walking down into the black sand beach. You are steps away from finding yourself sitting under the sun, playing on the beach , enjoying endless miles of beach combing, snorkeling in the area, kayaking, stand-up-paddling, and surfing all right outside the doorstep of your beachfront cabana!

You will be served three healthy and balanced meals each day, which are included in the price. Sansara Resort Restaurant offers mouth watering, wholesome food seven days a week that feature local ocean-wise fish, farm-raised poultry, vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. They serve only fresh, in season, and local (from farms in the area) that will leave you feeling perfectly pampered and undeniably full.

Cruise the Panamanian pacific coastline (tuna coast) and witness the amazing views, and abundance of natural wildlife. For those wishing to fish, you can look forward to catching tuna and Mahi Mahi.


Enjoy guided or unguided nature hikes through Panama’s pristine nature reserves. The nearby Cerro Hoya National Park is just one of the beautiful hiking options where you may see monkeys, macaws, coatis, iguanas, gigantic rainforest trees, and stunning orchids.

Onsite pool

Your vacation is a perfect time to update those family photos and capture the beauty of your experience. Resort owner and professional photographer, Michael Phillips, is onsite to do just that. If you are taking part in a retreat, a photo package is included with your retreat, but for those just taking in the resort, you may wish to consider a personalized photo shoot.


At Sansara, you can experience the area’s best snorkeling as they are situated in a beautiful protected bay. They have all the equipment onsite, ready for you to explore the reefs right outside of your cabana.

Stand up paddling

Glide on water and experience Panama’s stunning coastline while enjoying breathtaking views and exotic sea life from your paddle board. Sansara Resort offers additional packages for SUP instruction for those that want to learn to SUP or improve their skills during their stay.

Traditional Hawaiian massage renown for its soothing, flowing, and relaxing dance-like deep strokes. Using palms and forearms to knead soft tissues with oil while incorporating passive stretching techniques to loosen muscles and joints through mobilization. A relaxing and therapeutic variation for deep massage with no pain. This massage costs 75 USD for 60 minutes and 105 USD for 90 minutes.

Ancient Greek massage

Traditional Grecian massage with principles traced back to Egyptian medicine and further formulated by Hippocrates’ teachings. An unique therapeutic massage using dry brushing with powder to stimulate the nervous system, full body oil massage, foot reflexology, and cupping along the meridian energy lines and specific muscle groups. A restorative massage that releases tight and tense muscles. This massage costs 75 USD for 60 minutes and 105 USD for 90 minutes.

Deep tissue massage

Sports massage which targets specific muscle groups to warm and soften tissue, help heal scar tissue and flush toxins. This deep massage relieves muscle pain and speeds recovery from muscular exertion. Using strong and intense direct pressure, rubbing, kneading, vibration, tapping and myofascial techniques help to release patterns of tension and restore suppleness. This massage costs 85 USD for 60 minutes and 115 USD for 90 minutes.

Sansara special

Combination of relaxation and deep therapeutic techniques to address problem areas and reestablish balance. Including practices drawn from Classical Western, Deep Tissue, Shiatsu, Tui Na, Acupressure, Hawaiian,Thai, Egyptian, and Taoist massage. How to get there

Driving directions from Panama City

  • Exit Panama City via the Bridge of Americas - Puente de las Amricas. Please be aware of the speed limits, you may encounter police cars with radar along the highway roads.
  • The highway is called Pan-American Highway. Continue on this highway for approximately three hours towards Divisa town.
  • Prior to arriving to Divisa, you will see billboards advertising the town of Pedasi. This is the direction you want to head, and this is also where you turn off from the Pan-American Highway.
  • The turnoff is on the right, leading you to a small overpass above the highway, and you are now on route to Chitre and then to Las Tablas.
  • Upon entering Las Tablas, you will continue straight down the main road, until you hit a two-way stop.
  • The towns square will be on your right, and a lime green building called Electronic Caf will be in front of you.
  • You will continue straight, with a slight veer to the left, until you approach a fork in the road.
  • There will be a Clinica Dental in front of you, and a small blue sign on your left, with an arrow directing you to turn left to Tonosi. Take this left.
  • You will then take your first right - a big yellow / red / black SUR sign will be in front or above of you.
  • You are now on the road to Valle Rico. This beautifully paved mountain road is approximately a one to one and a half hour drive, and as you descend the mountain to the valley bottom, you will approach a fork in the road. Turn left.
  • Continue straight for another four minutes, and you will hit a dead end. Turn right.
  • Five minutes later, you will arrive to Tonosi.
  • Entering Tonosi, there is a gas station to your right; this is the last stop to refuel before Cambutal.
  • Straight ahead from the gas station and on your left, there is an ATM located at The Banco Nacional, this is the last place to get cash.
  • With the Banco Nacional on your left, and the towns square on your right, you will turn right and continue on that road. It will veer slightly to the left and you will continue that way.
  • You will see a big blue sign on your left with a few beach towns listed. Cambutal is on that sign.
  • It is a 20-minute drive from Tonosi to Cambutal. You will pass signs for Bucaro and Guanico as you drive.
  • Entering Cambutal, you will drive through the quiet community, and continue towards the beach access road, driving along the coast where you will soon approach *Sansara Surf and Yoga Resort; the friendly team will be eagerly anticipating your arrival.

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Tocumen International Airport (PTY). Note that the airport is about a 30-minute ride from Panama city itself, and transportation from the airport to Panama City is not included.

Sansara Resort recommends everyone fly into Panama City (PTY) one day prior to the retreat start date, as the complimentary shuttle takes place the morning of the retreat start date Sunday, December 11, 2016 at approximately 9 a.m. This shuttle departs only from a list of recommended hotels that are located in Casco Viejo (Old City). Please note this is also your return drop off location.

The complimentary shuttle will be leaving Sansara the morning of Saturday, December 17, 2016 arriving into Panama City at approximately 2 to 3 p.m. Shuttle drop off and pick up locations are below:

Private charters can be arranged from Panama City into Tonosi. The flight time is approximately 40 minutes. Flights to Chitre Airport (CTD), which is located two hours away from Sansara, are also available.

Arrival by bus

Go to the Albrook Bus terminal, which is on the west side of Panama City near the canal, near the smaller airport where you catch regional flights, and it is right next to the huge Albrook shopping mall. This is a very large and active bus terminal. Buses to everywhere go from this terminal. You will want to buy a ticket to Las Tablas. Once arriving in Las Tablas, you will have to change buses, grabbing a bus to Tonosi bus. From there you can take a taxi to Cambutal.

Arrival by taxi

Maxi Taxi Panama offers car service to Cambutal. Lumo Luxury in Motion also offers car service to Cambutal.
