Sanctuary Hill is nestled in the tranquil Ridgewood suburb, which is a lifestyle block area of New Plymouth surrounded by lush greenery and magnificent Mount Taranaki views. The holiday wing consists of two double dormitories with a full kitchen, a lounge, and bathroom facilities. It provides shared accommodation with two or three guests per room. The maximum number for groups is 12 guests. The modern luxury bedrooms are equipped with 100 percent cotton linen and towels. They also have an option for couples to accommodate in a king-size bedroom.

You will take a walk, explore the property, read a book from the library, journal, connect with nature and wildlife, and relax in the hot tub. The yoga studio building has been positioned to absorb the views of natural surroundings facilitating 80 square meters of open floor space. There are two bathrooms to serve this building and one shower. The yoga studio building holds additional two bedrooms to serve guests. The bedrooms are designed with your comfort in mind, with comfortable beds and woven cotton sheets. Sanctuary Hill is surrounded by the lush greenery of the Taranaki Region.

Program

The program is targeted to address all areas of wellness from movement, carefully crafted healthy meals, to workshops to help dive deeper into understanding the lifestyle choices you make and taking a holistic view towards wellbeing.

Yoga

All activities in the program are included and the opportunity to attend all of the yoga and meditation sessions. The schedule is designed to include two yoga classes a day, apart from Friday which will only include one yoga class after your arrival. Morning classes are intended to be with more movement to start that day and warm-up.

The evening classes are a restorative style to prepare you for a good night's sleep. You specialize in traditional Hatha and Restorative styles. Beginners to yoga will get an introduction to yoga postures, breathing practices, and relaxation techniques, while the more experienced will be guided in how to deepen their practice.

Workshops

The workshops in this holiday will be focused on the five principles of health through proper exercise, proper breathing, proper relaxation, proper diet, and positive thinking. Whether you are new to yoga or it is your favorite way to unwind, Sanctuary Hill would love to share with you their passion to enhance your energy levels and optimize your body and mind.

You will have a wellness guest speaker, Kelly Phillips, a naturopath and Ayurvedic practitioner from a bountiful life, that will share with you the wonderful world of wild food foraging, a tasting experience to discover nutrient-dense plants which help to strengthen your immune system, their benefits, and medicinal uses. You will enjoy a sound healing evening session on Saturday. The crystal ‘singing’ bowl is made of quartz and the effect upon the body and consciousness of the individual is tremendous.

Crystal sound baths help to facilitate a shift in your brain waves so that a deep state of meditation and internal healing can occur. Crystal sound therapy is just one way of achieving a meditative state without having to master the practice of meditation. This experience is perfect for beginners however those more experienced can reach a theta state (deep meditation) or even a delta state (where internal healing can occur).

Included excursions

Sanctuary Hill is surrounded by the lush greenery of the Taranaki region. During this retreat, you can walk around the property to enjoy the views of Mount Taranaki, listen to the birds of the region, walk through the orchard, and visit the different areas around the property. There is also a lovely domain very close to the property where you can enjoy a nice nature bushwalk. If you are feeling more invited to rest back and enjoy the view, you can relax in their various outdoor areas to bask in nature.

The holiday will take place in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. Sanctuary Hill is located only 15 minutes drive from New Plymouth Airport (NPL). New Plymouth is the major city of the Taranaki Region on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Notable features are the botanic gardens (i.e. Pukekura Park), the critically acclaimed Len Lye Center and Art Gallery, the 11 kilometers (6.8 miles) coastal walkway alongside the Tasman Sea, the Len Lye-designed artwork known as the Wind Wand, Paritutu Rock, and views of Mount Taranaki/Egmont.
