Experience deep release

Inward nakedness retreats include both group workshops and personal sessions guided by Memo. Memo has deep understanding and experience with the subconscious. The very opening and sharing of one’s hidden burdens in these carefully guided sessions will help you to bring about a deep release and a quality of inward nakedness, with a sense of innocence, that will then pave the pathway to inner peace, liberation, and joy.

Removing inner blocks

Without a feeling of being naked inwardly, one cannot possibly have this deep sense of inward freedom, which is an absolute necessity for one’s happiness and wellbeing. In order to climb high in one’s spiritual journey towards, the ultimate fulfillment of life with its ecstasy, one must not carry the heavy burden of any inward weight.

It is like how one cannot possibly reach the summit of Mount Everest with heavy luggage, and in the same way, one cannot reach the inward summit of joy with heavy luggage. The more one gets naked inwardly the more one feels the lightness of a joyful inner summit. Removal of such inward blocks will also help you to achieve your desired purpose in life.

Life in the external sense is a mere reflection of life inwardly, and as long as you have blocks within your subconscious, you are bound to be blocked from achieving your desired life. During the retreat, you will start the day by watching the wildlife and the sky subtly change colors. Enjoy a yoga class followed by a nice outdoor breakfast made with wholesome foods. You can be sure that there is no nudity in this event.

Enjoy the orchard

There is an orchard at the retreat center of about 85 fruit trees all for your picking pleasure, including apples, peaches, apricots, cherry, plum, goji, pear, persimmon, walnut, nectarine, pluots, quince, mulberries (black and Pakistan), pineapple guava, pomegranate, contorted jujube, olives, and almond trees. There are also blackberries, boysenberries, raspberries, grapes, blueberries, and strawberries.

Hiking trails

The Inaja Trail, one of four trails in San Diego County showcased as a “National Recreation Trail," which begins about one mile from the San Diego Spiritual Retreat Center. A trail leaflet, which may be available at the trail head, gives information about the typical live oak-chaparral vegetation seen here and elsewhere in the upper foothills of San Diego County.

An overlook at the midpoint in the trail gives a good view down the linear canyon of the San Diego River. Nearly everything you see in that direction was burned in the 2003 Cedar Fire, but the landscape is quickly recovering. At 3440 feet elevation, the overlook is often just above a temperature inversion that traps cooler, moist air below. On some mornings, you’ll find the canyon hidden by a cottony blanket of fog while neighboring peaks and ridges stand like islands in clear air.

Largest walking labyrinth in California

San Diego Spiritual Retreat Center features the largest walking labyrinth in California. It is 110 feet in diameter. Going in and coming out, walking this labyrinth is about three quarters of a mile walk. People from all over the world have enjoyed walking this labyrinth since 2008. People have many different intentions when they walk the labyrinth. Some of the intentions people have for walking the labyrinth are to cope with stress, to help deal with grief, to calm down, to meditate or pray, to have time to themselves, to find their authentic selves beyond their ego and illusion, to unite a group with common hopes, to stimulate creativity, to gain clarity, to find peace, to release a burden in the center of the labyrinth that is too heavy for them to carry, and for personal development. As you see, people use the labyrinth for many purposes.

Local arts and crafts

The surrounding area is rich with artists and crafts people, many of whom open their studios throughout all of the seasons. Specific arts events include the Blues Bash, Gold Rush Days, Julian Grape Stomp Fiesta, Apple Days, and numerous local concerts and music events, all well covered in the local press. There are also 100 of miles of trails for biking and mountain hikes.

During this retreat, massages are available by appointment only. The cost is not included in the retreat price.

Free free to join a retreat or come just for the day and picnic, soak in the jacuzzi, or walk the labyrinth. For those coming for the day, make it a personal retreat day for yourself. Towels and showers are all provided with your services of choice.

Typically, San Diego Spiritual Retreat is all booked-up one week in advance, so call and schedule your appointment as soon as possible. For retreat guests, it is recommended coming one hour early and having your massage before check-in.

"This was my ever first yoga meditation retreat. I didn't know what to expect coming in and I was kind of reluctant. But Jennifer, the host of the weekend, and Memo quickly dispelled those thoughts immediately upon first meeting. They were very warm and friendly and took us in. I'm not a vegetarian nor do I generally like raw food or salads, but the food preparation was really delicious and incredibly healthy. I left the retreat more conscious about the nature of my food and my decisions to eat healthier. "

"I enjoyed the activities set in place. The meditation sessions were enlightening, the yoga sessions engaging, and the hiking was exhilarating. It was definitely what I needed to unwind and get out of my busy life and even busier mind. I definitely recommend this retreat! "

"San Diego Spiritual Retreat Center is truly a special place tucked away in a lovely mountain location, whether you're looking for a yoga getaway, vegan cooking, or for a deeper inward reflection without the normal daily distractions. I visited for a weekend retreat focused on removing inner blocks and was reminded of the spiritual journey I started years ago. Memo is a warm and wise guide who speaks from the heart. And Jennifer is the caring host with a kind soul who tirelessly makes delicious vegan cuisine. The yoga and hiking in a serene backdrop are a huge bonus. I plan on going back to SDSRC again -- perhaps as a regular guest! -- and highly recommend it. "

"My wife and I stayed there for a mind/body retreat birthday getaway. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. We appreciated - and participated in - optional activities including yoga each morning. The main house had a special comfort - it was also where we met for group activities. We had fun helping to prepare and enjoy meals together. We learned about foods and innovative preparations. We had an epic hike among other delights. Jennifer and Memo provided a safe, peaceful, and inspired environment. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. "

"PS. Jennifer has an exquisite voice and if you can inspire her to sing for you, you're in for a special treat:)"

"I'm so glad I found San Diego Spiritual Retreat Center. It's close enough to my home in San Diego to be easy to get to, but yet it's on another planet entirely. I always find such spiritual healing when I visit there, as well as amazing new friends who, like me, are seeking to better themselves in a variety of ways."

"This place was exactly what I needed. It was homey and comforting, and had amazing food and activities. There were eight people total, four guests, two staff, and two session speakers. Everyone present was uniquely talented and brought an amazing family vibe to the weekend. I highly recommend the hike, we went to Volcan mountain. I'm stoked to come back again during harvest season. Jennifer was an amazing hostess and provided above and beyond service, really an incredible woman with a serving heart. Danann was our amazing chef and yoga instructor. What a lovely woman she was! I stayed here in February 2016 and plan to return in the fall."

"Jennifer hosts an amazing retreat. It was fun filled with activities, learning how to cook, and eating amazing food. You can tell she really cares about creating a once in a lifetime experience. I work 60+ hours a week, and this is exactly what I needed, a break for myself to get back on track. My boyfriend came with me who isn't vegan and still enjoyed himself. This is an amazing experience that I plan to go back to again. You will not be disappointed."

"My family stayed in the larger Stag house. Our children are ages 7, 5, 3, and 1, and I can say all of us absolutely loved it. My kids were sad to go home after a week vacation here, and they still ask when we can go back. The playground is so perfect the kids played on it for hours a day, and we adults could relax. We had a bonfire, soaked in the awesome Jacuzzi, and revived our spirits. It's an hour drive to the beach, and we day tripped in a few times and couldn't wait to get back to this place. There's something about sleeping surrounded by these large trees that melted the stress away from all of us. I highly recommend this place."

"Thank you Memo and Jennifer so much! I had a really great experience staying with you. I came with a package feeling stressed out and anxious. After the great exposure to nature and spiritual retreat, I feel something came off my shoulder and was left in labyrinth, very relaxing and peaceful. I like the yoga, and hike a lot, not to mention the greatest vegetarian food in the world! Thank you two so much for taking care of us. We will come back!"
