Retreat location

Sampoorna Yoga Costa Rica is conducting its courses in Danyasa Yoga Retreat and Eco Lodge, nestled in the verdant and resplendent natural beauty of Costa Rica’s Southern Pacific Coast.

At the base of rainforested mountains on the bank of the Baru River, in the small surf town of Dominical, Danyasa Eco-Retreat provides a sanctuary for practicing yoga in the beautiful Bamboo Yoga studio.

All of the rooms at Danyasa are built from recycled shipping containers and are built harmoniously with the land and natural beauty of Costa Rica. Danyasa is just a block away from the beach, where sunsets are some of the most beautiful in the world and the surf is year-round. In Dominical and around there are plenty of opportunities for adventure and activities such as swimming under waterfalls, kayaking in the mangroves, visiting cacao farms, learning about the local wildlife at animal rescue sanctuaries, and much more.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO). Getting to Dominical is easy. If renting a car, you can use a map and follow this direction: Danyasa Yoga Retreat Dominical, Bahia Ballena, Osa, Puntarenas, Costa Rica to find it. Allow 3 hours to arrive in Dominical from the airport in San Jose. Sampoorna Yoga does highly recommend renting a GPS with your vehicle, as most streets in Costa Rica do not have signs or even names!

Shared-ride shuttles provide another option for getting to the venue. Shared-ride shuttles usually leave from the Juan Santamaria International Airport and generally cost around 55 USD each way. The shuttles take about 3-4 hours. Sampoorna Yoga would be happy to assist you in booking a shared-ride shuttle.

Private shuttles from San Jose airport or the city cost 175 USD and take about 3 hours. Sampoorna Yoga would be happy to assist you in booking a private shuttle.

One can also take a 20-minute airplane flight from San Jose to Quepos and then take a taxi or rent a car to drive the remaining 30 minutes south to Dominical.

And lastly, public buses can take you from downtown San Jose right to Danyasa. The buses leave from the TRACOPA bus terminal. You will have to buy a ticket to Uvita, but you can get off at Dominical. There are two direct buses each day. Each bus stops briefly at Orotina and Quepos before arriving at Dominical. The buses leave at 6 am and 3 pm and take about 5 hours to get to Dominical.

Once in Dominical, Danyasa is located on the main street in Dominical, across from the public school. Look for the Danyasa Eco-Retreat sign on the right-hand side heading towards the beach. If the boutique is closed, there is an intercom on the signpost.
