Turtle Cove was first established in 1994 by avid surfer, Nic Tasioulas, who boldly settled in Tofo, Mozambique in those early days. Today, Turtle Cove remains legendary and after an extraordinary revamp, the lodge offers an exotic ambiance amidst the palm gardens. Built in a striking blend of Mozambican, Mali, and West African architecture, Turtle Cove exudes a charming and warm welcome to travelers seeking the perfect accommodation choice in Tofo.

The lodge comfortably accommodates 22 guests in seven double or twin chalets and two family units (each sleeping four guests comfortably). All rooms are en-suite and consist of double or twin beds, mosquito nets, and bed linen. The rooms are serviced by municipal power and each has three-point 220V power point with two-point adaptors. Rooms are serviced daily upon request. For backpackers and travelers on a budget, Turtle Cove offers the option of camping in a large shaded area with braai areas as well as dormitory rooms.

The Turtle Cove will welcome you and you will share the space in different lodges so very easy to come with a friend, husbands on your own too. It is going to be a mix of people from around the world as well from various backgrounds which will make it very interesting to share each one's experiences too.

You will share a Qigong morning class and then a full yoga practice of two hours in the morning to activate the breathing system and to turn your energies up to embrace the day before breakfast. In the afternoon, it will be a combo of workshops about pranayama, breathing, postures, alignments, chakras, and life coaching. However, you will also have some free time to either dive, surf, or just enjoy your holidays.

You can go together for a drink and appreciate the nice social life of Tojo in Mozambique. It is going to be a life change yoga retreat as you are coming to share the Samasthiti life.

Driving directions from Maputo

  • From the turn off onto the EN1, travel approximately 480 kilometers until you come to a Y-junction at which point; turn right towards Inhambane. There is not a sign so watch out for a small village called Lindela, the turning to Inhambane is just after this village. Do not take the road to Maxixe or Vilanculos. Take the Inhambane road.
  • Drive a further 30 kilometers to Inhambane.
  • Keep going into Inhambane town until you see the pier on your left, turn right.
  • Continue up to the traffic circle where you need to take the third exit to Tofo or Barra. You are now on the road to Tofo.
  • Continue straight ahead, keeping to the main road for 15 kilometers until you reach a junction with Bar Babalaza on the corner.
  • Turn right towards Tofo.
  • The first road to the right as you enter Tofo will take you to Turtle Cove and Anastasia. This road is the 4x4 road only.
  • If you do not have a 4x4, please continue to the second road to your right as you enter Tofo and follow the signs to Turtle Cove from here.
