Emotional Intelligence in Practice is a five-night retreat located in the beautiful beach town of Raglan, New Zealand. This retreat is hosted by registered psychologist, Samantha Tomkinson. This retreat includes workshops, psychometric testing, experiential exercises, group discussions as well as yoga and meditation practices. During the time you will learn about the what, how, and why of emotional intelligence and how to build your emotional intelligence to be a more self-aware, confident, and balanced individual. Daily yoga or meditation practices, nutritious and healthy food, and the company of like-minded individuals will help you to relax, restore, and grow.
You will stay at a beautiful private escape located at the base of Mount Karioi in either a private room or a shared twin room. Enjoy stunning views of the Raglan harbor to the North and Te Uku wind farm to the east.
This retreat is hosted by Samantha Tomkinson, a trained psychologist with over 15 years of experience. Through her expert coaching, Samantha helps people understand their own minds and the minds of others. Samantha is intrigued by emotions and the power they have in your ability to be healthy and relate to others.
She has specialized in researching, assessing, and developing ‘emotional intelligence’ to help people deal better with stress and shine in their own confidence. Emotional intelligence in practice is a four-day/five-night retreat including workshops, experiential exercises, group discussions as well as yoga and meditation practices.
This retreat will nurture you and hold space for you to work on yourself in a way you choose. You will have the opportunity to deep dive into an emotion, belief system, or behavioral pattern that you are working with, carefully supported by a psychologist.

Samantha Tomkinson is a passionate change agent, lover of the human mind, animals, music, and nature. She has an overwhelming sense of purpose to help people release their potential and be the best version of themselves. As well as being a registered psychologist Sam is a Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner and is qualified in the facilitation of many psychometrics such as MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator), EIP (Emotional Intelligence Profile), Wave, Hogan Development Survey (HDS) and OPQ (Occupational Personality Questionnaire).
During this retreat, you will be served daily plant-based meals. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided. You will enjoy plenty of delicious vegetarian options.
