Samahita's brain health upgrade program is to help you care for and improve the state of your brain and how it works through organic ancient practices from yoga and meditation as well as the modern technology and bio hacks. A combination of mitochondrial enhancement through light therapy, brainwave modulation through audio-visual entertainment, EEG biofeedback meditation, and all the yoga, workouts, breathwork, nutrition, meditation, nature, and more that is part of your Samahita stay.
Samahita was purpose-built to function as a retreat center dedicated to your vitality, well-being, and relaxation. The variety of private and shared room options reflect that. The rooms are set back from the main beachfront facilities perfect for quiet contemplation and relaxation.
The eco-friendly buildings make use of cross-ventilation, natural lighting, rainwater harvesting, and offer both mosquito screens, fans, and air conditioning. They have rooms for the single traveler, couples or friends, as well as loft-style accommodation that is ideal for families or two people sharing. Regardless of which room you stay in, the beach, pool, and practice spaces are seconds away.
Maximum capacity is two adults, one child. The room has 35 square meters of personal space, including a private balcony. It has a queen-size bed with individual reading lamps and the built-in shelf space at the headboard. Also included is a large writing desk (2.5 meters), bookshelves, storage cabinet that can be locked and can accommodate large laptops, hot-water kettle, medium-size fridge, built-in wardrobe with sufficient space for luggage, ceiling fans, and air conditioning. There is a fully equipped bathroom with a large shower area and room for clothes hanging and drying.
Guests can enjoy approximately 25 square meters of personal space, including a private balcony. Room features include a queen-size bed with individual reading lamps, a writing desk, bookshelves, lockable storage cabinet, hot-water kettle, medium-size fridge, built-in wardrobe, ceiling fans, and air conditioning. The bedroom section of these rooms is private and includes a dedicated entrance as well as direct access to a fully furnished bathroom, which is shared between two rooms.
This room has approximately 50 square meters of personal space, which includes a private balcony. It is split-level with a loft. Each bedroom has its own private space. There is a fully equipped bathroom shared by both bedrooms. Some of these rooms are equipped with an outdoor rain shower.
Each bedroom has a queen-size bed with individual reading lamps and a personal built-in shelf space at the headboard. Also included are a large writing desk, bookshelves, and storage cabinet that can be locked and can accommodate even large laptops, a hot-water kettle, and a medium-size refrigerator. The loft also has two wardrobes with sufficient space for luggage, two ceiling fans, and air conditioning.

A typical day of the BHU program involves all the classes in our Yoga Core Cycle Program. which can include a morning indoor cycle (7 a.m.), breath class (7:30 a.m.), yoga asana class (8:30 to 10 a.m.), followed by a break for breakfast and lunch, then a brain health session, an infrared therapy session, check in with a senior teacher, then afternoon fitness (4 p.m.), cycle (4:30 p.m.) and gentle yoga class (5 p.m.), dinner, and evening meditation (7:30 p.m.).
Light therapy to enhance your cellular energy level, so you feel better and your brain can work better. When your brain works better, you will do everything with much greater involvement and energy.
Brainwave modulation through audio-visual entrainment so you enter complete relaxation and cultivate the meditator’s mind. AVE stimulates certain brainwave states, in particular, the alpha range, to improve brain function, reduce inflammation in the brain, help you think better, and behave nicer.
A targeted meditation session with biofeedback to let you know the state of your mind and how you are actually doing as you sit and attempt meditative practice.
One-on-one sitting and guidance with one of Samahita’s senior teachers, discussion on anything that may have arisen through the session, and support to help understand the process and keep at it.

Gill was born in South Africa and has lived in the UK, Ireland and Asia. She began her international teaching career in Inner city London schools, then on to Dublin and Yangon. She now combines her love of yoga and music in Koh Samui, a unique transformational place. She began her daily practice of yoga in 2004, training with Paul Dallaghan and Richard Freeman, and is Yoga Alliance (500RYT) and 1100 hour Centered Yoga Certified. Samahita has always been a welcoming, transformative space for her and in early 2016 she was grateful to fully embrace this magical place and call it home.
Daniel began practicing Yoga in his home town Bristol, U.K. in 2003. He traveled to Mysore, India in 2006 to study the Ashtanga Vinyasa system directly from the Jois family. From Mysore, he was led to Samahita in Koh Samui where he found his primary teacher Paul Dallaghan. He spent 10 years teaching in the vibrant yoga scene of Hong Kong at numerous studios including Pure Yoga and remains connected to the community. He is registered with Yoga Alliance at the ERYT 500 Level and as a Continuing Education Provider.
Sarah was born in Canada and has lived throughout the world. She began her formal yoga training in 2011 and has taught full-time at Samahita, since 2016. She continues her studies in pranayama, yoga and meditation techniques, under the guidance of Paul Dallaghan and Sri. O.P. Tiwari, at the Kaivalyadhama Institute of Yoga in Lonavala.
Samahita Retreat is located on the south coast of Koh Samui, a tropical island in the Gulf of Thailand that still has long stretches of pristine beaches and unspoiled land. Situated on Laem Sor beach, Samahita Retreat is surrounded by towering coconut trees in a quiet and spacious area with incredible sunrises and sunsets that play with the colors of the water, sand, and tropical fauna. Only a few hundred meters away is the well-known Laem Sor Pagoda, which houses the remains of Leung Poo Daeng, a realized monk.
The only other structures in the area are privately owned villas. As such, Samahita Retreat's beach is private and virtually undisturbed, creating a beautiful, peaceful setting for you to enjoy your Thailand yoga holiday and chosen wellness packages. The main shopping areas are still within easy reach about fifteen to thirty minutes away by car or motorbike. Samahita Retreat's gentle setting inspires long, refreshing walks on the beach or through the meandering back roads.
During this holiday, you will be served daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Samahita serves mainly vegetarian food, fish three or four days a week, and eggs a few times during the week at breakfast. For those that do not take fish or eggs, there is always an alternative food option. There is no other type of meat products.
Samahita has self-service tea and coffee near the juice bar. You can help yourself any time to tea and coffee, along with sugar, milk, or soy milk. During the program, you will be served full brunch and dinner buffets and mineral drinking water. If you prefer, you can order an espresso or cappuccino at the juice bar though this is a billed item.
