Centered Yoga, as a leader and early pioneer in trainings, offers to its students, experience, longevity, and quality. Centered Yoga began cultivating students into teachers in 1999, first based in New York City, and since 2002 from its current home in Thailand. It has, in effect, been a leader in the field of yogic education and training. Samahita Retreat stands by a high quality, personal program, in residence, at the fairest of rates.
Samahita Retreat was established in 2003 on Koh Samui, and is known as the island’s hidden gem. Formerly known as ”Yoga Thailand”, the full service retreat center features 40 rooms, a detox and wellness center, and the celebrated health-food restaurant, Sattva Dining.
It is located in the south of Koh Samui, right on the beach. It is in a quiet area off the beaten track, with plenty of privacy and comforts, yet still close to markets and amenities. The beach is virtually ours alone, many rooms in our yoga retreat have a direct sea view, while the surroundings are lush and green.
Many of Koh Samui’s special attractions are down the south near the center, waterfalls to temples, and more. A walk down the beach brings you to the golden Laem Sor Pagoda of a realized Buddhist monk, whose force has drawn you to be established in this special spot.
The guest rooms are set back just over 50 meters from the water to provide you with a private community and greater security. A selection of our rooms enjoy this spectacular sea view, while others enjoy the tropical gardens scene.

Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students will receive certificate affiliated with Yoga Alliance. Registration with Yoga Alliance provides a globally recognized credential.
In recent years, a plethora of programs has popped up all over the world. You, as the interested student looking to train, are now presented with a disarray of choices. Samahita Retreat is not here to “sell” you on the program, nor convince you, as anyone who applies has to go through an involved application process. They seek sincere students.
That is why they have led 39 programs since 1999, all under direct personal contact in limited size groups, that involve sharing and guiding, with a unique hand of deep experience in the field of yoga. These points are to help you understand your position as you look around. Samahita Retreat continues to pour as much personal energy into these programs as ever. One difference, though, over the years Paul and teachers have grown, even more, sharing a greater level of experience.
The program duration adds up to over 300 hours and qualifies for Yoga Alliance’s 200-hour level, recognized worldwide, for those who successfully complete the training. Ultimately, however, training is beyond borders and pieces of paper. The continued dissemination of yoga will come from your own inner growth and deeper understanding. This is the focus.
Centered Yoga was one of the original schools certified by Yoga Alliance when they began. They still maintain their membership with this organization so it offers a form of accreditation for their graduates. Centered Yoga is a registered 200 and 300 hours Yoga Alliance certified school in both the US and the UK.
Although you may sign up for training with upwards of 100 students, Centered Yoga caps each of the 200-hour training groups at 40 or fewer students. This gives a ratio of one senior teacher to ten students or less. When they include the full teaching staff it is one to six. In addition is a staff of 75 at the center that includes therapists and nurses as part of the wellness center.
Samahita Retreat is a dedicated yoga retreat center, the first to have been established in Asia. Its location directly on the beach in the quietest and most unspoiled part of Koh Samui, Thailand, makes the experience of training extra rewarding. It’s not all serious, but can be seriously fun.
Yet it maintains its integrity and support of all the guests and students who come by staying private. When one needs, the distractions and outings are not too far away, but far enough to allow the energy of the place to be undisturbed.
There are over 1,100 graduates from all over the globe, many now senior teachers and owners of well-established yoga studios. Centered Yoga is happy to be part of this network of friends, teachers, and students on the Centered Yoga Teacher Directory.
Centered Yoga graduates receive a 10% discount for life on future programs and training at Samahita Retreat. Continuing education courses are offered a few times a year - on anatomy, philosophy, pranayama, asana, chanting - for returning graduates to pursue their advanced training certificate, for 300 and 1,100 hours.
For the graduates, Centered Yoga offers Samahita Retreat as a place for teachers to bring private groups or lead their own retreat. They continue to support the graduates through a private Facebook group community for sharing ideas, job opportunities, inspirations, questions, and answers to support you for life.
Normally Centered Yoga asks that the student has at least two years of experience practicing. But it depends on the individual student. The most important qualification for this course is the call from within. But the call is not enough on its own. For it to be true and sincere, it also needs to be based on a certain level of practice (i.e., so many times per week over so many years).
Your interest level will reveal itself in the desire to read more on the topic, to study and practice more, and in the absorption of your thoughts in the subject. The application form is detailed, and will reveal a lot about you. If the call is strong, then proceed. The pre-training curriculum is currently one to two months.
The full schedule will be presented to you at the meet and greet on your first day of training. The outline of the schedule is that there are classes throughout the day, starting at 07:00 and ending at 18:00 with breaks in between.
On some evenings, there will be meditation classes and study films. Saturdays are generally rested days or time for study.
Koh Samui is a tropical island located in the Gulf of Thailand. It is a beautiful place possessing lush jungles and white sand beaches, surrounded by sapphire-blue sea. Situated in a high energy zone, Samui and its surroundings has a direct effect on yoga and meditation, an ideal environment in which to focus, practice, and grow.
The training takes place at Samahita Retreat, a facility developed specifically by Paul Dallaghan of Centered Yoga for the teachings in the classical lineages of yoga and meditative practice. Opened in 2003, it is dedicated to the practice and teaching of yoga, health, and wellbeing.
All meals are included in the price of the training. Get your taste buds tingling with Samahita Retreat’s fresh and healthy dining. Drawing upon Ayurvedic principals, Samahita uses organic and local produce to create food prepared with love and delicious Thai flavors.
Great emphasis is placed on the importance of food at Samahita Retreat. It serves a dual purpose of healthily nourishing the body and mind while also delighting the senses through great taste and variation.
The food philosophy is based on the principle of “Sattva”, a Sanskrit term that means pure and light with a basis of easy to digest. The emphasis is on natural ingredients including yoghurt, kefir, soy milk, coconut milk, pieces of bread, jams, muesli, and breakfast juices, all homemade daily.
Samahita Retreat has a full-service juice bar serving up all types of juices, including home grown organic wheatgrass, in addition to a variety of blended shakes. Guests can radically boost their well-being and change mental and emotional states by consuming good water, fresh juices, and homemade, healthy treats.
Fresh juices, especially wheatgrass, can aid in detoxifying the body by restoring alkaline balance and reducing or curing many common ailments that people suffer from today. For those with a sweet tooth freshly made cookies, energy balls, muesli bars, and ice-cream are all created using pure, unprocessed ingredients.
