The rooms are perfect for quiet contemplation and relaxation, as well as for catching up on work or email while enjoying the tropical breeze. Samahitas eco-friendly buildings make use of cross ventilation, natural lighting, rainwater harvesting, and solar power. They have rooms for couples and singles, as well as loft-style accommodations that are ideal for families or two people sharing. Regardless of which room you stay in, the yoga shala, restaurant, lounge, swimming pool, and beach are only a minute away.
Approximately 50 square meters of personal space, which includes a private balcony. The room is split-level with a loft. Each bedroom has its own private space. There is a fully equipped bathroom shared by both bedrooms. Some of these rooms are equipped with an outdoor rain shower.
Each bedroom has a queen-size bed with individual reading lamps and a personal built-in shelf space at the headboard. Also included are a large writing desk, bookshelves, and storage cabinet that can be locked and can accommodate even large laptops, a hot-water kettle, and a medium-size refrigerator. The loft also has two wardrobes with sufficient space for luggage, two ceiling fans, and air conditioning.

Samahitas YogaCoreCycle program has been conceived by Paul Dallaghan (founder), based on over 20 years of experience in the world of yoga, health and fitness. YogaCoreCycle divides the sessions into focused areas for body, breath, and mind.
Dedicated Yoga sessions involve meditation and breath work followed by foundational and grounding yoga pose classes. Core; combines functional fitness, core and strength work with TRXs, Bosus, stability balls, Uggis and more to work all muscle groups of the body in a unique fitness combo. Dynamic Cycle classes combine fun, music and cardio in a high intensity sea-view work out.
The combined focus and effort serves to highlight mental and physical stability, strength training, balance, agility, weight loss and cardio in one fully integrated health and fitness program.
Samahita follows a holistic approach to yoga, aiming to ground students properly and help them grow from there. We open the day up with a sitting (meditation) practice of contemplation coupled with dedicated breath work practices. This is excellent to learn and take home. It can be done anywhere and it is great for handling stress and improving ones health.
Depending on your level and amount of previous experience with yoga, Samahita will try to offer separate classes for different levels. This may vary depending on the number of students and the in-house program.
For those newer to yoga, there will either be a simple guided Ashtanga based class, meaning the classical poses are taught and encouraged to be memorized, flowing from breath to breath. This is an excellent start to yoga and a real practice.
From here, it is possible to leave with the basics of a practice, take it home with you, and continue it at another studio or be able to practice yourself while alone. From here, it is easy to participate in the Ashtanga self-practice classes, known as Mysore style.
On some days, there may be a gentle class that includes some flow, basic Hatha asanas, as well as technique and detail. This can help you understand better and learn more about the yoga practice.
The Ashtanga Mysore style, in particular, is a very thorough approach to the practice of yoga. The sequence begins with basic postures, later opening up and revealing its depth as students continue to practice. The Mysore approach works with students individually, so that they progress according to their level.
A beginner starts with only a few poses, gradually adding more as your practice develops, and your proficiency and commitment evolve. This ensures that the student is always challenged and growing, while at the same time, practicing at the appropriate level.
For newcomers to the Ashtanga series, a minimum of one weeks stay is recommended. Those with experience in the practice can do shorter stays. The minimum stay is three days. All are encouraged to do longer stays, as the teaching can then fully sink in and practice can begin to reveal itself.
These afternoon restorative classes alternate throughout the week on themes of gentle flow, Yin, basic Hatha, and Qigong and are a rich addition to guests yoga holiday. All involve a certain amount of breath work practice.
Gentle-flow yoga classes are light yet detailed and enjoyable. The classes are guided by the teacher and students of any level can participate. They are perfect for those who want to take it easy in asana, but still are (mildly) challenging, or for those joining our detox program.
Yin Restorative yoga is a blissful, gentle, deeply healing, and meditative practice. It is ideal for relieving stress and tension and works on the connective tissues and internal systems of the body. All asanas are seated or reclining and maintained for a few minutes, supported by props as needed.
Hatha basics explore the fundamentals of yoga. Asanas (postures) are held for a longer time with attention to details of alignment and often with rest phases between postures. Basic inversion poses may be included.
Qigong happens when veteran yogini, Dorien, now in her 60s, is on site. She shares with you the basics of this Taoist practice that is both healing and energizing, involving soft whole body movements with synchronized breathing.
All our other teachers are dedicated to the practice and life of yoga. The intention for your yoga holiday is to offer a thorough, clean, and of course, enjoyable approach to learning and practicing yoga.
The schedule is subject to change at the discretion of the teacher. Saturdays are rest days from the Ashtanga practice. On these mornings, there will be once daily classes devoted to chants, breath work, and meditation.
Join an organized tour from Samahita and the long tail boats (with shade) will collect you right in front of the shala and whisk you off to the peaceful tropical islands of Koh Matsum and Koh Tan for snorkeling and relaxing.

Samahita Retreat is located on the south coast of Koh Samui, a tropical island in the Gulf of Thailand that still has long stretches of pristine beaches and unspoiled land. The ideal setting for Thailand holiday packages, it is only about an hour away from Bangkok by air, an hour plus from Singapore, and three hours from Hong Kong. Koh Samui has the allure of a remote island paradise, but with the accessibility of the regions most popular destinations.
Situated on Laem Sor beach, Samahita Retreat is surrounded by towering coconut trees in a quiet and spacious area with incredible sunrises and sunsets that play with the colors of the water, sand, and tropical fauna. Only a few hundred meters away is the well-known Laem Sor Pagoda, which houses the remains of Leung Poo Daeng, a realized monk. The only other structures in the area are villas privately owned. As such, our beach is private and virtually undisturbed, creating a beautiful, peaceful setting for you to enjoy your Thailand yoga holiday and chosen wellness packages.
The main shopping areas are still within easy reach, about fifteen to thirty minutes away by car or motorbike. Samahita Retreats gentle setting inspires long, refreshing walks on the beach or through the meandering back roads. Samahita Retreat is 45 minutes away from Koh Samui Airport and taxi drivers will know how to get to Laem Sor. Directional road signs will also guide you to Samahita Retreat as you begin to approach.

Samahita serves mainly vegetarian food: serve fish 3 or 4 days a week and eggs a few times during the week at breakfast. For those that do not take fish or eggs, there is always an alternative food option. Samahita does not serve any other type of meat products. They have self-service tea and coffee near the juice bar. You can help yourself any time to tea and coffee, along with sugar, milk, or soy milk.
If you prefer, you can order an espresso or cappuccino at the juice bar though this is a billed item.
As well as being a tropical haven of beaches, five star hotels and spas, Samui has a rich Buddhist heritage and is home to many active temples. Only a five-minute walk from Samahita Retreat is the Laem Sor Pagoda. With its shining golden tiles and peaceful atmosphere next to the mangroves and the ocean, you can also visit the remains of Leung Poo Daeng, a realized monk and climb up to the Khao Chedi, high on the mountain with breathtaking views.
Wat Kunaram is home to the preserved body of the revered Lung Padaeng, known as the Mummified Monk as he is still sitting in the meditation position over 20 years after his death. The most iconic Buddha statue on Samui is Wat Phra Yai, or Big Buddha temple not far from the airport, where you can climb the steps up to see the large majestic Buddha. Only a short drive from here is Wat Ban Plai Leam where you will find is a large selection of intricately designed temples.
For deep swimming beaches, the north and east of Samui have less reef protection with Chawengs powdery sands drawing in vast crowds of tourists from around the globe. A hub of shopping, nightlife, and entertainment, this bustling metropolis feels like a million miles from the tranquility of Samahita Retreats quiet beach. Silver Beach near Lamai is still reminiscent of old Samui with a few family run resorts and restaurants and is a favorite for swimming beach with the locals.
For holiday trinkets and gifts, visit the peaceful and traditional port town of Nathon or the busier bustle of Lamai. The islands largest tourist hub is Chaweng which is home to miles of stalls and stands selling everything from carved elephants to buckets and spades. For beautiful high quality hand crafted Buddha statues from Thailand and Burma, visit Double Dutch next to Big Buddha Temple.
Feel free to barter and be aware that many of the clothes and handbags are counterfeited - hence the low prices. From 5 p.m. until late on certain days, the towns close off one street to traffic creating Walking Street. To discover authentic Thai food not far from Samahita, take a taxi to Nuch Green Talay in the fishing village of Tong Krut for delicious curries, seafood, and friendly service. For lunch with a view, there is nowhere more magical than The Jungle Club with tasty food served in bamboo salas on the mountainside overlooking the ocean.
Villa Chocolat is only a five minute drive from Samahita, home to ballet classes for adults and children, as well as a tea room serving handmade Belgian truffles cakes and coffee. For a later night and more raucus affair head to Chawengs infamous Soi Green Mango, any time after 10 p.m. This is Samuis party capital, home to sound, sweet soul and a host of lively bars and clubs (not for the faint hearted!). Chawengs warm up bars include the beachfront Ark Bar and the street side Solo or the friendly Australian themed Bondai Bar.

It is possible to extend your time on detox day by day from an above program as fits your timeline. You can also add extra therapies and treatments to your program at a special discounted rate.
Bangkok Airways and Thai Airways fly directly to Koh Samui from Bangkok. They operate flights every hour daily and you can book your flights directly online. The first flight out is around 6 a.m. and last flight is around 10 p.m. daily. One-way is around 4000 THB. Travel time is approximately one hour from Bangkok. There are direct also flights from Phuket, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Hong Kong.
Bangkok to Samui
Trains for Surathani (which actually stop in Phun Phin, 14 kilometers west of Surathani) leave from Bangkoks Hualamphong station. The 6.20 p.m. (rapid) and the 7.15 p.m. (express) trains are most convenient, as they arrive at 5.28 a.m. and 7 a.m., allowing you plenty of time to catch an 8 a.m. boat to Koh Samui.
The bus/ferry journey will be an additional three hours once youve arrived in Surathani. Songserm offers a joint ticket (train + bus + boat) for around 1,300 THB, which lands you in Koh Samui by 11 a.m.
The ferry journey from Donsak pier is 1 1/2 hours. Donsak is 30 minutes from Surathani.
Tickets for the train can be booked at Bangkok Airport, Bangkok Railway Station, and many travel agencies in Bangkok.
To purchase your train tickets in advance, Asia Discover Thailand can arrange for the tickets to be mailed or to be picked up at your Bangkok hotel. Allow at least one month before your departure date to arrange for train tickets.
Samui to Bangkok
Take the 2 p.m. boat from Nathon to the mainland, and a connecting bus will take you from the pier to the train station in Surathani.
Tickets purchased from agents in Samui normally include the boat, bus, and train fares. The ticket is cheaper if you go to the station yourself, but there is a good chance the train will be fully booked as much as a week in advance.
