Situated on Laem Sor beach, Samahita Retreat is surrounded by towering coconut trees in a quiet and spacious area with incredible sunrises and sunsets that play with the colors of the water, sand, and tropical fauna. Only a few hundred meters away is the well-known Laem Sor Pagoda, which houses the remains of Leung Poo Daeng, a realized monk.
The only other structures in the area are villas privately owned. As such, Samahita's beach is private and virtually undisturbed, creating a beautiful, peaceful setting for you to enjoy your Thailand yoga holiday and chosen wellness packages.
The main shopping areas are still within easy reach, about fifteen to thirty minutes away by car or motorbike. Samahita Retreat's gentle setting inspires long, refreshing walks on the beach or through the meandering back roads.
Samahita Retreat is 45 minutes away from Koh Samui airport and taxi drivers will know how to get to Laem Sor. Directional road signs will also guide you to Samahita Retreat as you begin to approach.
The rooms are perfect for quiet contemplation and relaxation, as well as for catching up on work or email while enjoying the tropical breeze. The eco-friendly buildings make use of cross ventilation, natural lighting, rainwater harvesting, and solar power. There are rooms for couples and singles, as well as loft-style accommodations that are ideal for families or two people sharing. Regardless of which room you stay in, the yoga shala, restaurant, lounge, swimming pool, and beach are only a minute away.
Samahita’s signature program is designed to offer your body and mind an integrated yoga and functional fitness approach. The program offers a level of activity and rejuvenation that covers all aspects of human functioning across yoga asana, both dynamic and restorative, meditation and breath, core strength and cardio workouts, combined with a delicious and healthy food offering. The YogaCoreCycle program encourages you to achieve optimal health, not only physically but also emotionally and mentally. All that’s needed is your engagement and participation - most of which happens directly at the beach!
Yoga asana is incredibly effective at both strengthening and opening the body, leading to balance. Yoga asana is of ancient origin, designed to aid:
Of course, this is only possible if done correctly and practiced for a while. The emphasis is on core support to aid inner organs first by managing the autonomic nervous system, and second, for equal impact on the spine. In this process, mobility is the key, with strength and flexibility as good outcomes of the conditioning power of yoga asana. To help this development, you're provided with both guided dynamic and restorative classes, as well as teacher-assisted self-practice.
Samahita’s founder, Paul Dallaghan, has spent over 20 years immersed in the yoga practices. He brings this experience to the offering of yoga classes at Samahita. He has become one of the most senior teachers worldwide in the breath (pranayama) yogic practices and was one of the dedicated few to spend many years living in Mysore with Pattabhi Jois in the old days of Ashtanga Vinyasa, certified by him, with an expertise in asanas. Added to that has been early practice experience in many other asana methods as well as other physical activity forms of work out. Above all though, a deep yogic understanding of how and why to do asana and use the breath lies behind Samahita’s Dynamic and Restorative forms of yoga asana practice.
Breathwork, pranayama, and meditation classes also feature as part of the yoga program within YogaCoreCycle, additional to these dynamic and restorative yoga-asana classes.
Samahita’s Detox Program has been developed from years of experience in the specifics of detox as well as maintaining a healthy lifestyle and continued supportive practices. This is not an off-the-shelf product. This is a tried-and-experienced program over years that carefully balances the combination of activity, relaxation, therapy and a detoxing diet with supplements including candida detox. The retreat, both in concept and natural setting, is designed to revitalize guests and guide them into an empowered life.
The program uses a custom-formulated Ayurvedic herbal detox mix, plenty of teas, broths and juices, veggies and fruit where appropriate, detox supplements, and a mix of rejuvenating and detoxing therapies and practices. The liver is the workhorse of detoxification. It is also optional to include a liver flush towards the end of your program, intended to help with gallstones, cholesterol levels, liver-related headaches, and even food allergies, weight reduction, and constipation.
People’s backgrounds, diet, and lifestyle differ as does one’s experience with detox. If one of your goals is to eliminate candida, we can help with that. Candida is a yeast that grows naturally in the gut that multiplies out of control and can unbalance your whole system, creating an acidic environment where bad bacteria can thrive and create disease. Foods that feed candida and encourage it to flourish are sugar, white flour, yeast, and alcohol. Avoiding sugar in all of its forms is key to controlling candida. A detox including green juices, steamed vegetables, broths and supporting supplements, can be a good start to discourage the overgrowth of yeast and then continuing with a diet of foods that nourish the body, not the candida.
Your initial consultation and daily guest check-in provide an opportunity to adjust your program, taking your needs, goals, and preferences into account, and balancing them with professional expertise to provide you with the most supportive detox experience. Post-detox guidelines are offered, to help you transit from your detox back to regular eating.

There are direct also flights from Phuket, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Hong Kong.
Trains for Surathani (which actually stop in Phun Phin, 14 kilometers west of Surathani) leave from Bangkok's Hualamphong station. The 6.20 p.m. (rapid) and the 7.15 p.m. (express) trains are most convenient, as they arrive at 5.28 a.m. and 7 a.m., allowing you plenty of time to catch an 8 a.m. boat to Koh Samui.
The bus/ferry journey will be an additional three hours once you've arrived in Surathani. Songserm offers a joint ticket (train + bus + boat) for around 1,300 THB, which lands you in Koh Samui by 11 a.m.
The ferry journey from Donsak pier is 1.5 hours. Donsak is 30 minutes from Surathani.
Tickets for the train can be booked at Bangkok Airport, Bangkok Railway Station, and many travel agencies in Bangkok.
To purchase your train tickets in advance, Asia Discover Thailand can arrange for the tickets to be mailed or to be picked up at your Bangkok hotel. Allow at least one month before your departure date to arrange for train tickets.
Take the 2 p.m. boat from Nathon to the mainland, and a connecting bus will take you from the pier to the train station in Surathani.
Tickets purchased from agents in Samui normally include the boat, bus, and train fares. The ticket is cheaper if you go to the station yourself, but there is a good chance the train will be fully booked as much as a week in advance.
