Paul has been immersed in the practice and study of yoga, the breath, and meditative techniques for over 30 years. His dedication has come from a combination of intense practices, meditative experiences, silent retreats and numerous pilgrimages in India, Tibet and Thailand. He has had the good fortune to spend many rich years with his main teacher in pranayama and the meditative process, Sri O.P. Tiwari, and is now placed to carry forth these teachings and the tradition of Kuvalayananda. He was one of the dedicated few to spend years living in Mysore with Pattabhi Jois and certified by him.
Gill was born in South Africa and has lived in the UK, Ireland and Asia. She began her international teaching career in Inner city London schools, then on to Dublin and Yangon. She now combines her love of yoga and music in Koh Samui, a unique transformational place. She began her daily practice of yoga in 2004, training with Paul Dallaghan and Richard Freeman, and is Yoga Alliance (500RYT) and 1100 hour Centered Yoga Certified. Samahita has always been a welcoming, transformative space for her and in early 2016 she was grateful to fully embrace this magical place and call it home.
Daniel began practicing Yoga in his home town Bristol, U.K. in 2003. He traveled to Mysore, India in 2006 to study the Ashtanga Vinyasa system directly from the Jois family. From Mysore, he was led to Samahita in Koh Samui where he found his primary teacher Paul Dallaghan. He spent 10 years teaching in the vibrant yoga scene of Hong Kong at numerous studios including Pure Yoga and remains connected to the community. He is registered with Yoga Alliance at the ERYT 500 Level and as a Continuing Education Provider.
Sarah born in Canada, studying Art, Sciences, and Arts Education, and has traveled Africa, the Middle East, the Mediterranean Basin, and Asia for over a decade. She completed a Centered Yoga Teacher training in 2011 and has continued her studies in pranayama, yoga and Buddhist philosophy, and practical meditation techniques in more depth, under the main guidance of Paul Dallaghan and Sri. O.P. Tiwari. Sarah has over 1100 Centered Yoga Teacher Training hours, is certified as a TRX Personal Trainer and Schwinn Spin Instructor.
Ara was born and raised in Korea. She has traveled the world studying and working for the last 16 years. She is a certified Group Exercise Instructor, a certified Yoga Teacher with Paul Dallaghan, and has continued her education in Yoga Philosophy, and Pranayama. Ara is also a certified VTCT Massage Therapist Diploma Courses (600hour)
So was born and raised in Koh Phangan, Thailand. He has been at Samahita since 2009 and enjoys helping others reach their fitness goals. His vast experience in fitness and free-weight training, body weight resistance training, TRX, kettlebells, and passion for sports, such as Muay Thai, Football and running, will help you have an enjoyable and challenging session. Certified as an ACE Personal Fitness Trainer in 2014
Alexandra is a certified personal trainer, health coach and yoga instructor from South Africa. Her health and wellness journey started with her completing her 500 hr Personal Training & Nutrition studies in Florida in 2014. Thereafter she started her online health & wellness coaching business whilst being a full-time personal trainer and group fitness instructor. Her yoga journey began when she completed her 300 hr Hatha yoga course and attended 200 hr Ashtanga & Vinyasa training in India.
Arielle has spent nearly 20 years studying the human body, its performance and factors that contribute to wellness. Her passion and knowledge led her to a decade long career training athletes and educating fitness professionals. Arielle has been teaching yoga since 2004 and she holds a degree in Kinesiology, along with certifications in Mysofascial Compression Techniques©, Strength & Conditioning, and Nutrition & Wellness.
REBECCA NEWELL Rebecca has been working in the wellness industry since 1996. Initially inspired by her own curiosity and a compelling desire to live a healthier, happier life, her journey has been a continuous exploration of many different facets of wellness, while activating her own personal growth in the process. She is a holistic health coach, yoga teacher and Reiki practitioner. Discovering Samahita in 2011 was an integral part of both her professional studies and personal expansion, offering an exceptional blend of retreat, education, connection and inner reflection.

I liked the ambience of the resort - calm, friendly,happy place. The healthy food was delicious. The setting right on the beach was idyllic. I was a beginner yogi & felt extremely comfortable fitting in with all levels in 1 class. The instructors were exceptionally helpful & caring to my needs. "A Tranquil Oasis for a Wellness Retreat "
The service and amenities are great. It’s a beautiful, relaxing setting for a wellness retreat.
Location: It’s about 40 minutes from the airport and a fair distance from nightlife, shops etc, but you can easily book a hotel car to visit places like Lamai beach (20 mins), Silver beach (35 mins) or Chaweng (40 mins). A round trip will cost around 1,100 Thai Bhat.
Food: The buffet spread that was included in my package was of the healthy variety - raw, clean, fresh. The only non-vegetarian food served is fish. It got a bit bland for me but I get the concept. Btw, there is more variety to choose from the ala crate menu e.g. Thai salads, curries etc.
Overall, the package (which I booked through bookyogaretreats.com) suited me well because I wanted the freedom to choose which sessions I attend so that I can go off and explore the island on my own time.

"A piece of heaven - Samahita -Koh Samui"
The entire experience exceeded my expectations. The location is perfect. I loved the silence in the morning, the yoga practice by the beach, the fact that we started the mornings with cycling, the combination of core and yoga is a beautiful idea. Everyone is free to choose their classes and make their own individual experience. Aromatherapy massage is amazing. All in all a coming within yourself experience while connecting with all the beauty of nature. I highly recommend the snorkeling and boat trip to the island as that is another piece of paradise. The walk to the temple gives you such a beautiful view from up top. Take everything in and allow!

"Great retreat, lots of rain"
The retreat was calm and peaceful. My accommodations were very nice. Food was healthy and good variety of different things. Beach along the retreat was very nice. Yoga instructors were very good. They had a little library to borrow books, which was nice. Planned activities (a walk to see temples).

"My first retreat ... and it won’t be my last!"
I loved the location - right on the beach. The room was calming and comfortable, and the bed was very comfortable. The food was mostly very good, although a few dishes were a bit tasteless.
The teachers were excellent and I liked having different teachers for each class to add variety - I’m afraid I don’t know their names so I can’t rate them individually.
The place was just the right mix of healthy and zen without being over the top for a newbie. For example the rule of silence until 10 am was great, but if it had extended all day that would have been too much.

So many positives: teachers, therapists, location, facilities, food, all terrific. Everyone works towards you having the experience you want and need. But there’s a lovely, serene spirit that permeates Samahita. And when you relax into it, and get over the concept of spinning at a yoga retreat (by the way it works, although there’s no pressure to do anything), you’ll feel it. Learnt heaps. Loved it.

I liked the structure of the programme - the fact that it was a good mix of yoga and functional training which complemented my yoga practise. The programme was well-planned and wonderfully executed. I was able to deepen and strengthen my practise without fear of injury.

"Serene and beautiful"
The instructors we’re very welcoming and warm. They were knowledgable, prodessional and attentive. The location is beautiful, just next to the beach and creates a wonderful surrounding. "Wonderful Week of Wellness"
My boyfriend and I just enjoyed a fantastic week of yoga, core, cycle. The classes were challenging (just what we were looking for), the food was healthy and delicious and the location was very conducive to relaxation and quiet. It was great to have the option in the morning of an instructor-led class or teacher-assisted self practice. We enjoyed the temple walk excursion as well as walks on the beach and in the surrounding neighborhood. We felt it was an excellent value for the money. Highly recommend and would go back!

"Exceeded expectations "
1. Healthy, tasty and filling vegetarian food. All food was served as buffet. Breakfast started at 6.30am and brunch ran until 1pm. Fruit snack was at 3.30pm and dinner was from 6-8pm. I was never hungry and didn't have to buy extra food.
2. Great Yoga Cycle Programme. Having done my research, what I liked about the programme at Samahita was the balance between fitness, meditation and yoga. All the instructors were fabulous. It lived up to expectations.
3. Clean rooms and great bathroom. I loved the well sized bathroom. The rooms were very clean.
4. Great location. I loved how we were right in the south of the island. As a retreat I think it was good that it was located on the more remote side of the island. The facilities were so good that I didn't want to leave the site anyway.
5. Great spa. Relative to Thailand, the treatments were expensive. However the quality, ambiance and the professionalism of the treatments and therapists were excellent. If you purchase the wellness package then you get a daily treatment which is great value for money.

Amazing teacher team, Gillian, Daniel, Ara, So, Atraiz... thank you very much. I was an absolute beginner in yoga, but you teachers were patient, gave answers to all my questions and made it very easy to learn the basics.
Doing yoga in the morning with beach view during sunrise and meeting a lot of interesting characters is a tempting combination. The food is vegan but really good, massages are great, rooms are clean and the classes are sometimes challenging, but never I really liked the combination of yoga, fitness and spinning.
I am Definitely coming back! Thanks again to the whole team.

I liked the way the instructors were able to cater to both the most agile and the least experienced in a group with the various options for the poses. They were always able to advise and encourage but not to push, which suited this older lady!
