The SaltyWay house, a typical Portuguese Moradia, is the perfect place to stay. Whether you are here to surf or climb, you will be right in the heart of the action. The house comfortably accommodates 10 to 12 guests and is a blend of typical Portuguese style furnishings with a cozy and intimate surf vibe. The three rooms are for two or six persons and are clean, functional, furnished, have Wi-Fi access, and towels and linen are provided.

They have double, single, or bunk beds, and can provide private rooms for girls if required. They can also accommodate rooms for families and can offer you private chelates, just three minutes of walk. The house and the garden have recently been renovated and you will feel like home, relaxing, and getting together with friends. You are fortunate enough that they have a good-sized garden and chill out area with barbecue facilities and an outside shower. It is the perfect spot for barbecues, sunset beers, sunbathing, afternoon yoga, or chilling out in a hammock with a book.

SaltyWay is a professional, yet fun-filled adult surf and climbing camp. You will light up a fire in the living room at night and enjoy the cozy atmosphere of this big room with big windows. The house has a kitchen that offers you all you need to cook a good meal. You will enjoy lots of nights in the big garden with a bonfire going and the tales of the day. If you have children, you can bring them along and let them share the fun.

This eight days retreat is geared toward more advanced surfers, who wish to enjoy their time and moves in the Ocean, but also for those with a passion for yoga, with the twice-weekly yoga sessions. You will use a board and a wetsuit and have included rides to the best beaches of the day and help in finding the best peaks to surf. You will stay in a gorgeous home and have the possibility to exchange ideas with other open minded people.

The yoga will not only improve your balance and offer a welcomed relief to sore muscles from all the surfing but a chance to refocus and settle your mind after the adrenaline of the day. Your time at SaltyWay it is all about having fun. Do not worry if you are used to waves of a smaller size, there is something for you too.

A key ingredient to their activity holidays is the togetherness of the group. They believe living together builds an unbreakable bond during and even after the holiday. The type of people you will meet want adventure, to enjoy the outdoor lifestyle and sunsets, travel, and learn or improve their surfing skills, a recipe of interests that makes for a great group vibe. The vibe here is relaxed and welcoming to everyone of any age.

Retreat location

This retreat will take place in Sintra, Portugal. The house is beautifully situated off the beaten track between the waves and the mountains, right in the heart of nature in Colares, near Lisbon. You will enjoy the tranquility of the Serra, 24 hours a day, a silent nights’ sleep, and early surf wakeups with the birds.

Almoçageme is a quaint farming and fishing village which lays claim to the best chocolate cake in the area and a great weekend market, selling local organic produce at affordable prices. A short walk from the center you will find Praia d’Adraga, which is considered one of the 20 best European beaches by the United Kingdom’s Sunday Times newspaper. This idyllic craggy cove is also home to an excellent seafood restaurant, the fish soup it is a must.

Lisbon is the place where the sun shines approximately 239 days a year, making it the sunniest capital of Europe. The city enjoys a Mediterranean climate and is known for its unique light, sweet pastries, white cobblestones, Fado music, café culture, and yellow trams. Situated on seven hills, Lisbon is renowned for its Miradouros strategically built look, giving breathtaking views of the cities pastel colored buildings, iconic 25 de Abril suspension bridge, and the river Tejo.

Praia Grande and Praia das Maças

What is more, you are just a short walk and a breathtaking descent down to Praia Grande, via a set of steps famed for its prehistoric dinosaur footprints. The house is also situated between Almocageme and Praia das Maças. Both are small picturesque Portuguese villages with a range of restaurants, bars, small shops, and cheap local markets, a great place to buy your week’s supply of fresh fruit and vegetables.

You are going to be blown away and captivated by the golden sands, the crystal clear Atlantic waters, the towering cliffs, and night time silence that Praia Grande has to offer. But do not despair, if you are missing a little hustle and bustle, they are not far from Praia das Maças. Praia das Maças is a small seaside village that has a supermarket, a weekly organic market, several souvenir shops, a variety of fine restaurants, and lively bars. It is also famed for its 18th-century red tram that takes you on a scenic 45-minute journey to the historical and culturally rich town of Sintra.

Sintra, a Unesco world heritage site, is a fairy tale town famed for its 19th romantic architecture. A long time sanctuary for the nobility and elite of Portugal, its mountainous and forested terrain is dotted with exquisite palaces, extravagant villas, and decorative gardens. Just a short journey from the Saltyway house, this enchanting town proves popular among culture vultures and foodies. Top tip, bring along a camera for the breathtaking views and a couple of euros for a Queijada, a deliciously typical cake of Sintra.
