Salty Soul Wellness' private accommodation is on the waterfront at the beach, situated in Yamba. This private location provides a fully self-contained holiday complex, each with a twin-share and double room and a shared bathroom with an outside deck. You can expect to be woken by the sound of the ocean, with a 50-metre stroll to the beach where you will paddle out into this stunning vista after enjoying the group morning yoga.

For this fully catered surf yoga package, they provide accommodation, surf lessons, and yoga classes with equipment provided. You will be staying beachfront in a beautiful Yamba beach house, close to both the great surfing beaches and the yoga classes at Studio Yamba. A high vibe plant based diet will nourish your body and your soul. On your surf yoga weekends, Salty Soul Wellness will not only take you surfing and teach you some beautiful new yoga techniques, but they also aim to take you on a deeper journey into yourself, creating clarity on what motivates and inspires you, with some useful take-home tools to apply once you leave.

Salty Soul Wellness believes that surfing can be a very easy natural unfolding if you choose to take a more feminine approach to the learning process. Despite being quite a physically demanding ‘yang’ activity, outside in the sun and the salt, you balance that by highlighting the magical moments. These moments are captured through the mindfulness practice you develop together through gentle yoga and meditation. Where the Australian bush truly meets the ocean. Yamba is a relaxed coastal surf village on the north coast of NSW, famous for great waves and the amazing coastline of Yuragir National Park.

All welcome to attend

The retreat is open to all levels from absolute beginner to intermediate and advanced surfers. Student numbers are limited to 8 so you are guaranteed personal attention. Belinda is a qualified yoga and surf instructor, and fully available to you to share her knowledge and experiences.

Surfing

The surf is mostly sand bottom beaches with some of the best learn to surf waves you can find. For the more experienced surfers, you have a selection of 6 beaches, and reefs, within a 10 km radius. You will receive personal attention from Belinda Wehner, a qualified Level 1 surf Instructor with over 20 years of international coaching experience. There will be another level 1 surf instructor if the group exceeds 6 in the water or if clients require private tuition to suit their ability and the conditions. All coaches are qualified lifeguards with advanced resuscitation and first aid.

Let Salty Soul Wellness know if you would like to bring your own equipment, otherwise, they supply you with a top of the range soft mini Malibu and rash shirt for your protection. They suggest a lightweight wetsuit or surf top and leggings for the cooler days. Their surf and yoga retreats are adapted for excited beginners taking the plunge for the first time and also the experienced surfer who wants specialized instruction to push their surfing to another level. Their main focus is gaining water time, learning about a variety of new breaks, and using the support of the group and yoga to help you achieve a new level of confidence in the ocean!

Yoga

The yoga session will consist of gentle beach yoga classes in the morning and afternoon Yin yoga with props. On this retreat, your focus will be on building strength and stamina in the morning to help you surf better and longer. This is primarily through a gentle Vinyasa flow sequence specially designed for women and for surfing. This more dynamic yoga style will also be combined with afternoon yin yoga for deep release and relaxation, allowing you to assimilate the excitement of a day at the beach. And don’t worry the yoga is adapted to accommodate both complete beginners and experienced yoginis so you will be completely supported to progress at your own level over the 2 days.

Program overview

Arrival date is on Thursday evening November 19 after 5 p.m. and if all guests arrive by 7 p.m. you will have your intro meeting then. The retreat will start at 7 a.m. on day 1 and will finish after lunch on day 3, Sunday, November 22.

During the retreat, Salty Soul Wellness encourages guests to enjoy a healthy vegetarian diet. They believe a healthy diet enhances your energy and enthusiasm and will provide the basis for a healthier eating program once you return back home.
