Experience waking up to the sounds and smells of the African bush. Lying in your luxury safari tent, you watch the big red African sun slowly rise above the horizon. Carrying a fresh herbal tea, you wander to the yoga deck for a gentle yoga class, guiding you to connect deeply to your true nature and that of the surrounding wildlife.
Your home for the week is Entumoto, which means ‘meeting point.’ This fits well for a yoga retreat, as yoga means to yoke, to come together, and to meet one’s own true nature. Entumoto is an elegant, authentic, and stylish camp with a history going back to the 1920s. It is family-owned and run by Swedish and Maasai families. It is situated in a beautifully secluded valley overlooking the Maasai Mara, a unique position within its own wildlife conservancy and with direct access to the park.
The camp is beautifully decorated, offering comfortable and spacious accommodations with good quality and fresh local food and organic garden produce. It has a pool, sauna, and treatment tent for relaxing after a long game drive. Entumoto has a friendly team of local staff who provide great service and are highly rated by guests. They also have experienced guides who will make your stay truly memorable. This is a luxury tented safari camp in a private conservancy in the Maasai Mara, Kenya.
The location is elevated in the hills of the Megwarra escarpment. It is part of the Siana Conservancy, on the border of the Maasai Mara, between the park gates Oloolaimutia and Sekenani. The camp is in a secluded valley with its own private water point called 'Eden.' In the evening, before sunset, you can often see elephants, buffalos, giraffes, zebras, and impalas all drinking there together. It will be an unforgettable experience.
All the tents are made of a multilayered canvas, custom-designed, and set a hundred meters apart from each other for privacy. Each tent has a large wooden bed, a wardrobe, a veranda, and a beautiful bathroom with a double sink and hot shower. All tents also have electricity, dressing gowns, hot water bottles, and verandas. The camp has two tiers of accommodation split into two sites, the Main area and the Toto area.
The Main area is the more luxurious choice, as the site has a pool, pool bar, sauna, yoga deck, and massage tents within it. Each tent in the Main area has its own stunning view over the conservancy from the tent veranda. The Main area is also just a three-minute walk downhill to the dining area and the main lounge. The main site has nine tents. There are four luxury sharing tents, two double tents, and three twin tents.
Each sharing tent includes two double or twin rooms, two bathrooms, and a central lounge with a fireplace, comfortably furnished with a table and two divans (which can double up as two spare single beds). The shared tents can fit up to six people. Each tent has its own veranda, wherein you can enjoy a coffee in the morning, a tea on the sofas in the afternoon, or a sundowner in the evening. And remember that you will be in the African bush so keep your eyes peeled for wildlife in the camp.
The Toto site is the more affordable accommodation option. The site is smaller and is closer to the dining area and the main lounge. The site has five tents. There are two large shared tents, one double tent, and two twin tents. The Toto tents are furnished in a similar fashion to the Main tents. Each one also has its own private veranda. However, they do not have the same spectacular views over the conservancy. Nevertheless, they are still surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife. All guests can enjoy the pool, sauna, and treatment area. However, these facilities are a five-minute walk uphill from the Toto site.
The Toto area is the smaller of the two sites. It is nearer to the dining area and main lounge. All guests have access to all the facilities like the pool, but they are a five-minute walk uphill from the Toto site. Also, the views from the Toto tents are not quite as spectacular as those from the Main area, but you will still be immersed in nature and surrounded by wildlife. All tents have electricity, hot showers, double sinks, dressing gowns, hot water bottles, and seating on the veranda. They are made of a multilayered canvas, are custom-designed, and are set a hundred meters apart from each other for your privacy.
The main guest area consists of a sitting area, dining area, bar, fire, library, games cupboard, and veranda with views of the abundant countryside. Beautifully handcrafted artifacts, bespoke antiques, lavish sofas, books, and candlelight will transport guests back to the heyday of the romantic classic safari. Main meals will be served in the dining area while pre-dinner drinks and snacks will be in the lounge.
The main site has a pool with sun beds, a pool house, a pool bar, a sauna, and a yoga deck for you to enjoy at your leisure. The massage parlor and the sauna are open for relaxing after a long safari drive. You can also book manicures and pedicures if you feel like getting a bit of tender loving care. Wi-Fi is available in the lounge as the property now has satellite broadband. Safaricom mobile phone signal is good quality throughout the camp.
Option 1 (200 USD)
Option 2 - Design your own day
Safari and Yoga will support you to create your ideal day with the guides.
Option 1 (land transfer)
Option 2 (internal flight)
During the week, there will be the option to take part in daily game drives, twice daily yoga classes, sunrise experiences with the lions, sundowners with the hyenas, night drives, walking safaris, bike rides, gourmet meals out in the bush, with vegetables picked from the onsite ecological garden, and an evening with a local herbalist and medicine man. There will also be a cultural visit to a Masai village to meet the community, to see their houses, and to experience the local singing, dancing, beadwork, metalwork, and fire-making skills.
You will be guided on both day and night safari drives in open-air comfortable 4x4 vehicles around the private conservancy. The guides will take you at your pace, stopping to spend time with the animals so you will have the chance to take in their magnificence. Stopping off for a picnic lunch or sundowners on Lion Rock will allow you to become really present with the surroundings and bask in the serenity of the landscape.
You will also venture out on at least one walking safari during the week. This will create an opportunity to connect more deeply to the land. It will heighten the sense of the aliveness of the area and will bring you closer to the cycles of nature that make this conservancy so completely unique.
In the morning, you will have the option to do a sunrise yoga class at 7:00 a.m. Or, if you venture out on an early morning drive, there will be another class on offer at around 11:00 a.m., once participants are back at camp. An afternoon yoga session will also be available at around 4:00 p.m., prior to sundowners. All classes are optional and all levels are welcome, but a willingness to explore different ways of moving and an open mind will help. There will be lots of variations offered to suit all participants.
No safari is complete without sundowners. The group will set up on Lions Rock to look over the escarpment, or out on the plains to watch the African sun go down while sharing stories from what they have seen that day. Evenings around the campfire will be steeped in local culture. There will be an opportunity to sing with the locals and to learn about their unique healing techniques, passed down through generations.
Guests are encouraged to partake in Entumoto’s community projects, which include a local school and a rescue center for young girls. Community engagement, Entumoto’s conservation ethos, and the prolific wildlife are the three pillars that provide a holistic and awe-inspiring experience for all guests. All the inhabitants in the community are directly benefiting from the conservation and tourism that Entumoto brings.
The land is leased from local families. They each receive a fixed yearly lease and also a variable lease based on the number of guests who visit. In agreement with local families, a jointly run conservancy organization was created. Entumoto has frequent meetings with large groups of Maasai to co-manage the land. This is a very important step for the Maasai of that area, as it gives them a democratic and well-governed organization, which works for the benefit of the community.
As participants will be in a small group, with full privacy throughout the conservancy, they will have the flexibility to set their own itineraries. For those who are not keen on yoga, Safari and Yoga can arrange other activities and private excursions. All activities will be optional. Meals, yoga classes, safaris, and cultural activities are included in the package. However, you will be welcome to relax at camp and take as much free time as you would like to enjoy the serenity of the breathtaking surroundings. Guides can also arrange private walks, bike rides, or romantic meals in the bush.

You then jump into your safari truck and explore Entumoto’s private conservancy with Safari and Yoga's expert Maasai safari guides and spotters who will show you and teach you about zebras, elephants, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, birds of prey, and much more.
You will hear stories from the local Maasai, go on walking safaris through the bush, and eat picnics under the shade of acacia trees. You will also swim in the pool, relax in the sauna, enjoy sundowners on the deck watching antelope run across the planes, sing around the campfire, and leave your everyday life far, far behind. This is a unique opportunity to experience the culture of Africa, immerse yourself in the rhythm of the natural world, embody the stillness of the wilderness, and give back to a rare and truly sustainable conservation project.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included during your stay. The cuisine caters to vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores (some meat and fish will be offered). There will also be dairy-free and gluten-free options. All soft drinks are included, e.g. filtered water, fruit juice, sodas, tea, and coffee. Wine, beer, and local spirits during sundowners and dinner are also included. Imported spirits come at an extra cost. All meals and drinks can be served in the privacy of your own veranda, in the dining area with a warm fire, or in the bush for a more remote dining experience.
Breakfast will consist of a full range of fruits and cereals. You may order a cooked English breakfast of your choosing either in camp or out under a lone thorn tree on the savannah plains.
Lunch will be a lighter affair - with locally sourced produce and fresh vegetables from the camp's private vegetable garden. Pre-dinner drinks by the open fireplace or the pool will allow the group to share the adventures of the day. Sundowners will also be frequently served in a variety of beautiful locations around the conservancy.
Dinner is served at your convenience and is a delicious and varied three-course meal.
Entumoto Safari Camp takes pride in growing many of their own fruits and vegetables in their huge ecological garden, bearing aubergines, kale, avocados, passionfruit, papaya, and mango, as well herbs such as parsley, basil, fresh mint, and dill. They are organically minded and diet-conscious, and the chefs can create individual dishes for each of their guests according to dietary requirements.
