The yoga of spiritual practice

Sadhana yoga means yoga as a spiritual practice. We offer two variations of asana practice that are a blend of various traditions. The Vinyasa flow practice is derived mainly from Ashtanga yoga and is a fast-paced flow.

The second is a Hatha practice derived from Sivananda tradition, which is more meditative with longer held poses. Both sequences together provide you with a great foundation to build any type of yoga class upon. After graduation, you will receive a 200-hour yoga teacher certificate, will be able to register with Yoga Alliance, and teach anywhere in the world.

Anita Sundaram

Anitas style of teaching yoga is of the heart (Ananda), dedicated to the great Vedic science of yoga and Ayurveda. She is committed to teaching an integral form of yoga that combines the classical yoga system of patanjali, integrated with the healing science of Ayurveda.

She strongly believes in the practice of pranayama, meditation, and mantra, the music of our voices, harmonium or drums that vibrate in our cellular body, awakening shakti, activating our subtle energy body, energizing our spirit, and allowing the inner river to flow.

Her yoga foundation began in the Iyengar tradition and the teachings of Ramanand Patel, and is layered with study with masters: Eric Schiffman, Dr. Vasant Lad, Judith Lasater, Mas Vidal, Saul David Raye, Arun Deva, Nischala Devi, and Tukaram Das. She is certified at the 500hr level, Restorative yoga, and facilitates yoga teacher trainings in Guatemala, Fiji, Bali, and India.

Mindi Batson

With an insatiable thirst for transformation, Mindis soul journey lead her to discover the power of yoga in 2009 while living and working in Washington, D.C. Called to this path many years ago, Mindi explored the psychological impact of Tai Chi Qigong for individuals with traumatic brain injury through her Masters thesis.

A three- month backpacking trip to Guatemala in 2007 inspired a deep awakening that called Mindi back in 2010 to this magical land. While living and working in Guatemala City, Mindi discovered the Mystical Yoga Farm located on the beautiful Lake Atitlan and went to work on the farm in order to deepen her understanding of yoga. Following the soul journey, Mindi decided to pursue both her 200hr and 500 hr teacher training at the Mystical Yoga Farm in Guatemala through School Yoga Institute.

Over the course of two years, Mindi has accumulated nearly 1000hrs in trainings through the Institute and helped to lead the first 200-hr teacher training with School Yoga Institute in Guatemala City. She has trained extensively with Bryan and Anjili and is thrilled to join the facilitating team of Sadhana Yoga School.

Ashley Davis

Ashley Davis has been dedicated to her practice since discovering yoga in 2001. After years of dreaming about becoming a yoga instructor, in 2013 Ashley pursued her RYT-200 through School Yoga Institutes Fiji program, studying under Bryan Russell, Anjili Russell & Anita Sundaram.

Born and raised in rural Illinois Ashley is proud of her Midwestern roots. However, at a young age she quickly discovered she was meant to travel the world. Ashley worked as a professional Radio Personality through and after her college career, taking her to the mountains of North Carolina. After a few years in Hawaii, Ashley decided it was time to pursue her dream of becoming a yoga instructor.

Yogas transformative power inspires Ashley through mind, body and soul, and she believes it should be nurtured. Focusing on body awareness, a steady connection to breath and alignment, she strives to bring fun and love in her uplifting classes. Inspired to continually learn and share the wonderful gift of yoga with others, her classes combine elements of her own practice with influence from Hatha, Ashtanga, Bikrim, and Power Yoga to create a dynamic and exciting alignment-based flow.

"Sadhana Yoga School is truly is a well-rounded way to learn and understand not only what yoga does for you physically but spiritually, consciously, and wholly for the complete mind, body, soul experience. I recommend this course for anyone embarking on the path of wanting to not only learn how to teach yoga, but also develop a compelling understanding of the ancient principles of yoga that make it what it is today."

"This program is, without a doubt, life-changing. Not only do you leave with an immense awareness and new understanding of a yogic lifestyle, but also you yourself are positively and spiritually transformed. I expected the anatomy course and the asana workshops but I was unaware how much of a supportive and therapeutic community I was entering. I will forever feel connected to the sangha we created, to Bethel Farms for being a true haven, and to Sadhana Yoga School for giving me the skills to further pursue my dreams. It's by far the best thing I have ever done."

"I came in looking for more spirituality and I found it, it was inside of me, I just wasn't looking. I am finding out all sorts of things about myself, and with theses new findings, I feel I am becoming much more authentic, much more at peace with who I am. I feel like my yoga classes are much more alive, have more energy, and it feels good!"

"For me, it has been an on-going cycle of learning, changing, and growing. I'm learning one lesson after another and without yoga, I would be lost from my path. My body craves the breath, the practice. Yoga and meditation have shown me many different worlds, but the most beautiful part is we are all connected are all one."
