The annual blissology yoga, ecology, and surf retreat takes place at the jungle hideout of Tierra de Milagros on the Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. In this blissful setting, you will practice yoga twice a day with Eoin Finn and Insiya Rasiwala-Finn and enjoy all the amenities and activities this stunning location has to offer from surfing to hiking to hammock time. You will be nourished by healthy organic meals and learn to make very special raw cacao truffles. This transformative retreat will help you connect to your heart phones.
The rustic, open-air jungle bungalows and cabinas put you right in the middle of nature. Experience your own private paradise, shaded from the sun by lush halyconias and ginger. At night, enjoy the cool breezes, lull of waves, song of crickets, and relaxing rustlings of the jungle. Wake up to the howler monkeys call and spend your days exploring this unspoiled oasis, where the river meets the ocean.
The cabinas offer a range of accommodations including everything from secluded, thatched-roof palapa style jungle ranchos lit only by candles and sharing nearby bathroom facilities to newly renovated, tin-roofed cabinas complete with terraces, sitting areas, en suite bathrooms, hot water and solar powered outlets and lights, and balconies overlooking frolicking monkeys in the canopy.
This beautiful open format house, located directly on the beach and the river, has magnificent views of both the crashing waves and the monkeys happily playing in the trees. The two king bedrooms upstairs share a bathroom with hot-water shower. There is an additional king bed downstairs with a bathroom and dipping pool. Another, slightly larger, river-filled, dipping pool looks out at the ocean from the front terrace. The house features its own solar system, which provides enough electricity for lights, refrigerator, and outlets for recharging electronic devices. A gas stove and all the necessary kitchen equipment give you the freedom to cook for yourself and whip up a cool batch of margaritas if you so desire.
Practice yoga twice a day with Eoin and Insiya in a raised, thatched-roof shala overlooking the shimmering waves. Your morning practices will get you going more than robust Costa Rican coffee with a sweet wave of fiery bliss, while the afternoon sessions will offer deeper alignment instruction in areas you choose to focus on such as inversions, front body stretches or backbends as well as restorative asana.
The goal for the week, other than spending less time on your smart phones so you can tune in more deeply to what Eoin calls your heart phones, is to create lasting habits of change through a series of practical and powerful daily rituals that will help you to live in what they call an upward spiral.
Also offered is a living foods cooking class with Insiya where you will learn how to make raw cacao truffles infused with super-foods to raise your immunity and satiate your chocolate appetite.
Tierra de Milagros is a secluded and off-the-grid jungle hideout nestled between pristine Pacific beaches and tropical virgin rainforest in the wilds of the Osa peninsula, Costa Rica. Handcrafted thatch-roof bungalows and rustic, eco-conscious cabinas are scattered within this lush botanical garden shared with monkeys, macaws, toucans, and sloths.
Surrounding this magical space, you will discover waterfalls, tide pools, a beautiful river lagoon, and an array of spectacular beaches to swim, sun, and surf. The Osa peninsula is one of the most bio-diverse places on Earth and home to over half of the species found in Costa Rica.
Set on 15 acres bordering the Carbonera river and the Golfo Dulce, Tierra's grounds contain all manner of lush and local jungle plants, exotic interlopers brought from the east, fruit orchards, and maintained kitchen gardens and viveros. Around every turn, discover one-of-a-kind fountains, sculptures, and rock towers.
Wander down the driveway and onto some of the small twisting trails scattered across the property and you will encounter enchanting and vibrant flowers, towering matapalo and almond trees, monkeys feasting from branches heavy with mangos, coconut palms loaded with sweet young pipas just waiting to refresh, and pineapples protruding from their spiny-leafed plants.
Spend a few hours touring or working in the gardens, learning about the composting system, visiting the chicken coop to collect eggs, sampling the famous miracle fruit that makes sour tart flavors sweet, crushing and smelling the fragrant lime leaves, harvesting fruits for juices and herbs for salads, and digging up fresh ginger and turmeric for evening meal.
Adjacent to Tierra de Milagros is a gentle and non-rocky surf break with rolling breakers, while a mile away is Matapalo, a world-class point break for serious surfers. If youre not a surfer, dont worry, you can choose to explore the jungles, hike to nearby waterfalls, luxuriate at the on-site spa, or simply partake in some hammock enlightenment.
