Cabinas

The rustic, open-air jungle bungalows and cabinas put you right in the middle of nature. Experience your own private paradise, shaded from the sun by lush halyconias and ginger. At night, enjoy the cool breezes, lull of waves, song of crickets, and relaxing rustlings of the jungle. Wake up to the howler monkeys call and spend your days exploring this unspoiled oasis, where the river meets the ocean.

The cabinas offer a range of accommodations including everything from secluded, thatched-roof palapa style jungle ranchos lit only by candles and sharing nearby bathroom facilities to newly renovated, tin-roofed cabinas complete with terraces, sitting areas, en suite bathrooms, hot water and solar powered outlets and lights, and balconies overlooking frolicking monkeys in the canopy.

Beach house

This beautiful open format house, located directly on the beach and the river, has magnificent views of both the crashing waves and the monkeys happily playing in the trees. The two king bedrooms upstairs share a bathroom with hot-water shower. There is an additional king bed downstairs with a bathroom and dipping pool. Another, slightly larger, river-filled, dipping pool looks out at the ocean from the front terrace. The house features its own solar system, which provides enough electricity for lights, refrigerator, and outlets for recharging electronic devices. A gas stove and all the necessary kitchen equipment give you the freedom to cook for yourself and whip up a cool batch of margaritas if you so desire.

Practice yoga twice a day with Eoin and Insiya in a raised, thatched-roof shala overlooking the shimmering waves. Your morning practices will get you going more than robust Costa Rican coffee with a sweet wave of fiery bliss, while the afternoon sessions will offer deeper alignment instruction in areas you choose to focus on such as inversions, front body stretches or backbends as well as restorative asana.

The goal for the week, other than spending less time on your smart phones so you can tune in more deeply to what Eoin calls your heart phones, is to create lasting habits of change through a series of practical and powerful daily rituals that will help you to live in what they call an upward spiral.

Also offered is a living foods cooking class with Insiya where you will learn how to make raw cacao truffles infused with super-foods to raise your immunity and satiate your chocolate appetite.

Eoin Finn

Eoin Finn is a yogi, surfer, and blissologist from Vancouver, Canada. A philosophy graduate, he has been deepening his understanding of yoga and eastern philosophy since 1989. In 1999, Eoin founded a yoga system called blissology and has been teaching this unique, transformative, alignment based yoga, and through it, exploring strategies for bringing more joy, awe, love, and bliss all over the world.

A blissology yoga class strikes the perfect balance between the ego drive and the infinitely kind and wise side of yourself so that you treat your bodies, your communities, and nature more sustainably and with more reverence. He has a gift for making complex concepts easy to grasp and exudes enthusiasm into his teachings. In particular he is passionate about bringing spirituality down to earth, reclaiming quiet time in nature as the greatest spiritual portal and the best source of health and happiness.

An ocean-activist, he started the blissology eco-karma project in 2014 raising aid and awareness through yoga and activism for the worlds precious but imperiled coral reefs. His visionary writings about health, happiness, and interconnection have appeared alongside noted authors Deepak Chopra, Prince Charles, and Eckhart Tolle, and include features in Vogue, InStyle, Yoga Journal, and Oprah Magazine.

Fusing his passion for athletics and yoga, Eoin has prepared over 100 olympians as well as pro-athletes from around the world for high-level competition. Eoins teaching offers a heart-opening, invigorating, and experiential practice, grounded with humor, dynamism, and a focus on both physical and energetic alignment, not to mention some great yoga grooves inspired by his love for surfing and the ocean. Yoga, when practiced with this holistic awareness becomes fluid therapy, movement guided by the innate knowledge of your anatomy and evolution.

He counts among his teachers Ravi Ravindra, Nadia Toraman, David Swenson, David Williams, Pattabhi Jois, Nancy Gilgoff, Donna Holleman, Orit Sen Gupta, Gioia Irwin, myofascial alignment teacher Tom Myers, body mind psychotherapist Susan Aposhyan, and Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen of body mind centering. He also studied karate in Osaka, Japan for many years in disciplines that are infused into the holistic mind body heart experience of blissology yoga.

Insiya Rasiwala-Finn

Vinyasa yoga teacher and wellness and spa writer, Insiya Rasiwala-Finn grew up in Bombay, India, but lives between Vancouver, Canada, and wherever she happens to be. Formerly the marketing manager for yoga clothing success story lululemon athletica, Insiya left to pursue her goals of freelance writing and teaching yoga. She has written on holistic health and travel for magazines such as Asia Spa, Conde Nast Traveler, LA Yoga, The Tyee, My Yoga Online, Elephant Journal, and Luxury Latin America.

She is passionate about creating balanced relationships with the body-mind, communities, and the planet, which are ideas that are the core of blissology, a movement she helped co-create with her husband, yogi Eoin Finn. She also brings a unique east-west perspective to her yoga teaching infusing her background in yoga and Ayurveda from India with contemporary insights from the West.

Tierra de Milagros is a secluded and off-the-grid jungle hideout nestled between pristine Pacific beaches and tropical virgin rainforest in the wilds of the Osa peninsula, Costa Rica. Handcrafted thatch-roof bungalows and rustic, eco-conscious cabinas are scattered within this lush botanical garden shared with monkeys, macaws, toucans, and sloths.

Surrounding this magical space, you will discover waterfalls, tide pools, a beautiful river lagoon, and an array of spectacular beaches to swim, sun, and surf. The Osa peninsula is one of the most bio-diverse places on Earth and home to over half of the species found in Costa Rica.

Set on 15 acres bordering the Carbonera river and the Golfo Dulce, Tierra's grounds contain all manner of lush and local jungle plants, exotic interlopers brought from the east, fruit orchards, and maintained kitchen gardens and viveros. Around every turn, discover one-of-a-kind fountains, sculptures, and rock towers.

Wander down the driveway and onto some of the small twisting trails scattered across the property and you will encounter enchanting and vibrant flowers, towering matapalo and almond trees, monkeys feasting from branches heavy with mangos, coconut palms loaded with sweet young pipas just waiting to refresh, and pineapples protruding from their spiny-leafed plants.

Spend a few hours touring or working in the gardens, learning about the composting system, visiting the chicken coop to collect eggs, sampling the famous miracle fruit that makes sour tart flavors sweet, crushing and smelling the fragrant lime leaves, harvesting fruits for juices and herbs for salads, and digging up fresh ginger and turmeric for evening meal.

Adjacent to Tierra de Milagros is a gentle and non-rocky surf break with rolling breakers, while a mile away is Matapalo, a world-class point break for serious surfers. If youre not a surfer, dont worry, you can choose to explore the jungles, hike to nearby waterfalls, luxuriate at the on-site spa, or simply partake in some hammock enlightenment.

"This place is amazing. It's very, very uplifting. I'm working with a spiritual teacher here. Astounding. More than I thought it could be. It's a total lifestyle laid down in the sutras (medical scriptures). Incredibly loving, supportive. It's just such a privilege. I love the morning puja, especially when the priest anoints me. You wouldn't think the shirodhara (medicated oilstream therapy poured over the forehead) would be so encompassing. Astounding depth delivered. Next week treatments begin for osteoporosis. If the treatments are as effective as the others, I should be fine. I came to Vaidyagrama a frivolous socialite and am coming out a nun - ha!"

"I'm so glad I came and can't believe the care I'm being given here. It's unreal. Vaidyagrama is a special place for attentive care using authentic traditions, a global village with thoughtful presentations and a safe sanctuary to heal."

"This Maya Temples of Transformation Journey was a wonderful retreat to connect to this ancient mystical land. The Spiritual experiences were amplified by the presence of the Shamans we had leading our group. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone coming to visit the Maya Temples."

"The temples were wonderful to experience, but the best part was being with and learning from such an advanced being as Miguel. What a lovely human being! So full of light and love! I feel very honoured to have met him and been able to spend so much time with him."

"PK healing includes the entire experience. I received so much here, far more than I expected and feel so grateful. The doctors continue the slow method of healing. I trust Ayurveda and their application of the science. With Jaisri, I enjoyed her mothering and was touched by intimacies shared. I'm planning to return next year, too. Fullness remains ever full!"

"I came to Vaidyagrama with less than 6 weeks preparation to learn about Ayurveda, begin a pitta pacifying diet, introduce myself to meditation, pranayamas and return to a daily yoga practice. My trip to India was my first flight out of the United States. Seventy six hours passed between the time I left home and arrived at Vaidyagrama, both events occurring in the dark. Despite many obstacles, including a dire illness after arriving, I know without a doubt I would like to return. I have never experienced such loving, thoughtful, personal and professional care. This occurs every day and my doctors were also available 24/7 with a simple dial of his/her extension. I know, as I called often and was visited immediately, even for a nightmare. I suspect it may be quite difficult to leave, so instead, I'll look forward to my return."

"Now that I've had a few days to bask in the reflection of this wonderful trip I realize how special it was. I entered this trip with an open mind and heart and it was filled with wonderful memories. Many, many thank you's to those of you who put this trip together and help shepherd us for the week."

  • Review by Caroline Whitlock from Blackburn, Australia

"The trip went beyond my expectations. Not only did I have the privilege to learn from a master teacher, I was with a group of amazing individuals that I also learned from. Miguel Angel's teachings were profound and I have come away with a fresh look on how I can be in my day-to-day life. The journey was a life changing spiritual experience. I have come away with new friends and a spiritual family. I know that there will be more. Sacred Earth Journeys put together an amazing teacher and knowledgeable guide to take us on a powerful Mayan experience. I have taken so much away from this that I cannot write it all down. I thoroughly recommend any spiritual journey with this tour company."

  • Review by Marcia Monge-Lopez from San Jose, Costa Rica

"It was a wonderful journey, filled with magic in many ways. I feel we became a harmonious family, everyone has been so respectful, generous and caring - I am grateful. Phil's "long conversations", reflections and poetry have been stimulating and deeply inspiring. My soul is renewed, consciously breathing beauty again. Now I know why my soul led me to come on this journey. Thank you Sacred Earth Journeys for making it possible for us to experience the beauty of Turkey as well as the beauty of our souls through the sacred space enabled by Phil Cousineau."

"I often find myself drifting away and before I even realize it, I am back in Bali. The land where magic happens. I left there with my heart so full of love and joy that it is still permeating through my body. I think of the time we were snorkeling and the sunlight was illuminating through me, in me, around me. Ahhh, I AM still in a peaceful place and loving my new friends, myself and ALL that is...Michele, our instructor/guide, was wonderful and so full of life, love and joy!! Helen, I am already looking forward to my next journey. I am so pleased with the way you organize these trips and your attention to detail. We really did have such a wonderful time. Bali let the inner child out!"

  • Review by Tracy Wendland, Vancouver, British Columbia

"I booked a trip to Bali through Sacred Earth Journeys at a point of transition in my life and I planned to use it as a time for reflection as well as a yearend fitness goal to guide me towards positive lifestyle changes for the year of 2013. I was injured the month before our departure and was very anxious in the weeks leading up to the trip about my ability to participate, especially as I struggled to carry a small backpack and pull my suitcase on the day of departure. Each day of the trip unfolded as a gift that re-energized my spirit. I went on this trip with the intent of deepening my yoga practice. On the magical island of Bali, in the presence of the other beautiful goddesses I was blessed to travel with, I ended up kindling a relationship with the divine (whose existence I had previously questioned).I returned home refreshed, having left behind emotions and beliefs which no longer served me and I now have a sense of clarity, purpose and lightness (as well as new friends) that helps to guide me in how I want to live my life, an increased awareness of who I am capable of being and how I can help others to open their hearts and allow love and healing to enter. It was a true honour to bare witness to the blossoming of the other participants on the retreat. Deepest gratitude to Michele, Arta and Helen for arranging such an incredibly sacred journey!"
