Rustic Retreats Yoga in Spain Itinerary

During the week, using Patanjali's 8-fold Astanga yoga process as our model, we will enjoy traditional Hatha yoga classes as we watch the sun rise, weaving the ancient wisdom of the observances of Yama and Nyama into our Asana practice. In Hatha yoga we balance our solar and lunar energy using gentle and powerful movement, posture and breath work.. Stimulating, soothing, opening, lengthening and restoring balance as we salute the sun.

The views are stunning from our yoga platform and the walk up and down the mountain each day is a valuable treasure in itself. We will also come together for a daily practice of 'Pure Yoga' as taught by Swami Purohit. Swamiji is a living master of Kriya, Hatha, Jnana,Tantra and Mantra yoga from the Giri line of traditional Himalayan yogis. In this tradition we use Asana and Pranayama practices to draw our attention deeply inside (Pratyahara), clearing energy pathways within us and enabling space for the process of Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi (meditation) to naturally unfold.

According to Kriya yoga only 20% of our energy comes from the food we eat. The rest is absorbed from the cosmos through the body's highly sophisticated energetic system. This system is made up of a network of 1000's of channels called nadies or meridians and chakras or wheels of energy. This process is usually unconscious but through experience we will begin to discover how to consciously generate, process, direct and store this prana (energy). Through this practice we will stimulate the regeneration of the system, clearing, opening and making way for a stronger and smoother flow of life force through our physical, mental and emotional body's, strengthening our soul connection.

There will be morning and evening meditation sittings. Within the perfect stillness at the heart of the Murcian countryside we will have the opportunity to journey deeply into ourselves, beyond body and mind. We will also enjoy delicious home cooked vegetarian meals together as we look out over the peaceful valley..

  • Your workshop programme for the week:

Introduction to Reflexology workshop

Reflexology uses pressure points on the feet, hands and ears to stimulate and balance energy flow through the whole body and mind. Working under the same principals as acupuncture, it is a very effective complementary technique to promote healing as a stand alone therapy or alongside most other treatment. It is very powerful in increasing healthy circulation throughout the body, helping it to detoxify itself, as well as usually being very relaxing and enjoyable.

I have been a practicing reflexologist for many years and would like to share some of this knowledge with you.

During the workshop we will learn how to give and receive a therapeutic foot massage which will soothe and restore equilibrium, balancing body, mind and soul.

Osho Kundalini Meditation

In this workshop we will follow Osho's well developed, step by step, movement to music process to enliven our energetic body. In most cases, due to unnatural living, particularly the repression of emotions, this system is functioning to only a fraction of it's potential. This active meditation is a powerful wake up call, causing us to become vibrantly alive and ready to live our truest potential.

Yoga karmasu kauslhlam Yoga is excellence in action

'As described by the perfect yogi, Lord Krishna himself, 5000 years ago. How can we bring excellence to every action? During this workshop we will delve into the ancient wisdom of the Bhagavad-Gita and other texts written by great masters (inc. Eckart Tolle) to shed light on this inspiring principal; discussing how we can integrate this transcendental wisdom into our lives today.

Meeting the Inner Child

In this session we will use guided meditation to meet and welcome our inner child, just as he or she is. This attention and acceptance is usually very welcome and builds a bridge of understanding for any unhealed aspects of our character that appear to be stuck in time to evolve and be integrated back into our present being. This process frees up trapped energy in the body/mind system creating wholeness and peace.

The Divine Light Invocation

Leonie is expecting by this stage of the week we will all be wide open and ready to gain maximum benefit from this ritual. Using physical movement and creative visualization as a launch pad we will re-charge every cell of our body with light and realize a deeper understanding of this as our essential nature. She has found this to be a very powerful and often blissful practice and hope that you will enjoy it too. All in all, it will be a fun-filled week through which we will all grow and transform in ways which allow us to more fully express our highest truth and fulfill our dreams.

Astanga yoga process as described in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras consists of Yama, Nyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi.
