Our accommodation comes in the form of beautiful yet simple well-equipped bell tents, with beds and electricity.

Bell tents

Our beautifully furnished bell tents are simple yet sumptuous. With comfy beds and crisp, fresh linen, it’ll be a luxury glamping experience you’ll never forget! As you lay your head down, let the sweet scent of the nearby lemon and orange groves carry you off to sleep as you doze under the glorious, star-filled sky. A truly blissful way to end your day.

We have 3 levels of accommodation:

​Rest and relaxation

You’ll be spoiled for choice for ways to rest and relax. You could take a dip in our refreshing swimming pool, or lounge lazily in the hammock area while taking in the beautiful views. Why not pull up a sun lounger in our shaded terrace, and enjoy one of our many books or board games? And at the end of your day, after an invigorating workshop, you can head past the almond trees to our lovely wooden meditation cabin, with breathtaking views over the valley.

As a totally off-grid yoga retreat, we have lovely, solar-powered showers, or if you prefer, an amazing outdoor shower block, so you can literally shower under the stars!

Electricity and internet

We provide our guests with an Internet connection , and the bell tents come ready with solar electricity.

Program

Style of yoga to be taught

Hatha Yoga is a great place for people to start their yoga journey with so many variations of the physical practice, however these can also challenge the most advanced practitioner. The word Hatha represents balance. Bringing a balance of soft, slow poses with a mix of strong, dynamic poses. Warming the body and cooling the body, bringing strength and softness, physically, emotionally and mentally. Hatha will be our morning ‘Yang’ practice allowing us to wake up and be energized for the day to come.

The evening time will be for Yin Yoga, which is all about stillness and quietness. In a world where we are encouraged to be “Yang” all the time, working fast, being loud. Yin allows us the time to stop, and look inside, and to reset our systems, allowing the body to rejuvenate and be totally rested.

Just like a warrior we must first train before we can go into battle. Connecting the physical postures to the essence of the Bhagavad Gita, in order to strengthen our mind and body, so we are fierce, calm and focused for the battles we may have to face in our daily life.

Your Rustic Retreats journey

The Bhagavad Gita is an ancient Indian scripture that tells a story of Prince Arjuna and his guide Krishna.

Arjuna is confronted with war in his kingdom and is faced with the moral dilemma and despair that violence and death will bring. He seeks Krishnas council and guidance. The dialog between both Arjuna and Krishna covers several spiritual topics, that allow us to reflect on the dilemmas we face in everyday life.

The messages of the Bhagavad Gita will be incorporated into our classes helping us to develop the mind of a peaceful warrior with strong spiritual morals.

Our Asana classes will be our physical training, preparing the body, our workshops will be our mental training preparing the mind and our meditations will be our spiritual training for the soul, to live a life of freedom and liberation.

Please note, this is a sample timetable and may be subject to change. There will be one workshop a day, it may be in the morning or afternoon.

Workshop 1: The Bhagavad Gita Explained

This text is something to be studied over a long period of time. I will read paragraphs from the book and give you an overview of what it is about. You will receive a printout of my brief summary of one of the most important text in the Yogic tradition. We will have time for questions and discussions, on how this story is still relevant even today.

Workshop 2: Back to basics

There will be a strong focus on how to adjust and modify poses to protect and enhance your body. We will revisit basic poses that are used in yoga classes such as downward dog, chaturanga, warrior poses, and balancing postures.

Stripping back each pose in order to learn our weakness, encouraging a firmer foundation in order to progress and become stronger in your current practice. For newer students this workshop will help you understand the structure of each pose.

Workshop 3: Building on the basics – Where the basics can take us

A continuation of the prior days’ workshop, which will show us where each pose can take us. This class will show newer students the possibilities of a strong physical practice and will allow more seasoned students to practice more advanced poses and transitions, allowing us to have some fun and incorporating the poses into our daily practice.

Workshop 4: Yoga Nidra

As you lie in Shavasana (corpse pose) you will be guided into a deep relaxation, in order to leave the physical sensations of the body and connect with yourself on a deeper spiritual level. Yoga Nidra uses the practice of Sankalpa, setting an intension of the heart, in order to achieve a specific goal.

Workshop 5: Warrior Ceremony

Warriors fight for liberation; Yogis fight for liberation of the mind. In this ceremonial workshop you will feel a sense of freedom, freedom to express yourself just as you are. you may even discover hidden talents!

You will be encouraged to express yourself through art and introduce yourself with your new warrior name!!

Food

Stimulate all your senses whilst you absorb the bright colors, beautiful textures, tantalizing flavors, and sublime aromas of the fresh food served at Rustic Retreats. The chef will create a myriad of fresh, healthy vegetarian meals to tantalize your pallet, all using the ripest, freshest, seasonal ingredients that are locally produced either from their very own organic garden and vegetable patch or from the local market and farmers.

Varieties of fruit are growing freely on the site such as lemons, oranges, almonds, pomegranate, and carob to name but a few. All vegetarian meals are lovingly prepared by a trained chef in the outdoor kitchen and are served 'al fresco' whenever possible. All meals are included in the price. The meals have been so popular with the clients that they are looking at producing a recipe book for next season.

Example menu:

  • Start the day with a fruit smoothie or refreshing mint tea.
  • Breakfast baby spinach omelet, cereals, fruit and French toast.
  • Lunch bell pepper frittata, bean and yogurt salad, and pumpkin bread.
  • Evening meal squash and zucchini casserole with wild rice and lemon tart.

  • All day snack menu is available but cost is not included in the price. Alcohol is available at a small extra charge.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Fly into to Alicante, then it's a 2-hour train journey (6 EUR) through the beautiful Spanish countryside down to Totana station where Rustic Retreats will collect you.

Alternatively, fly into Corvera Airport Murcia (RMU). There is a bus transfer (costs 6 EUR), and it takes 25 minutes to Murcia train station. You can also get a taxi or hire a car (40 minutes by car to Totana). Train to Totana takes 40 minutes and costs approximately 3.75 EUR.

Arrival by train

  • Arrive at Totana station where Rustic Retreats will collect you.

Arrival by taxi

  • You can get a taxi from the airport which would cost 170 EUR and upwards. Also, there are car hire options at the airport.
