Yoga, dancing, and hiking on the beach in the heat is Rivkah’s idea of a perfect week. Join like-minded souls from around the world for a relaxing wellness week with organic and healthy food, invigorating yoga practice, and energizing and liberating dance classes. In addition, you can also experience an excursion to Old Havana which was recently named one of the 7 New Wonders of the World. Meditation, hiking, salsa lesson, Spanish lesson, spa night, beachcombing, yoga with live music, bonfire with live music, and folk dance workshop will enrich your retreat.
All rooms are spacious, comfortable, and include air conditioning and en-suite bathroom. There are single or double occupancy options. The villas are partially sustained with solar panels and all water is naturally heated. The location provides ample indoor settings and numerous outdoor green spaces for your yoga practice. Most people come on this retreat alone. Rivkah Rachel will find you a roommate of the same sex. It’s a great place to meet new friends!
Come with whoever you would like. This retreat is open to all ages, sexes, but unfortunately only to the human species.
The retreat schedule involves morning yoga and meditation, 3 organic home-cooked meals, afternoon yoga workshops, evening activities, free time after lunch, and two excursion days.
Rivkah Rachel and Eduardo Pimentel will be guiding you through various yoga classes. The classes will range from Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Restorative, and Iyengar.
Suitable for all levels, these moving meditation classes will challenge each student to go beyond where they have been before in a safe and authentic environment that encourages questions, smiles, and laughter. Whether you have been practicing for a decade or have never stepped on the mat, you will find your place within your Cuba yoga family.
During the week, everyone has the opportunity for a one-on-one yoga session with one of the most experienced and talented Iyengar trained teachers in the world, Eduardo Pimentel. You will also have a chance to have a group class with some of Eduardo’s students here in Havana.
Besides yoga, you will have all sorts of fun planned for you: salsa lesson, Spanish lesson, spa night, beachcombing, a tour of Havana, yoga to live music, bonfire with live music, and folk dance workshop! All activities on this retreat program are optional, though Rivkah Rachel hopes you will participate in all of them.
On this retreat, you will go on a guided tour of Old Havana which is one of the 7 New Wonders of the World.
Rivkah discovered yoga 15 years ago and hasn’t stopped learning about it since then. She is now a 500-hour RYT and has had the privilege of practicing and teaching all over the world with incredible teachers such as Eoin Finn, Michael Stone, Richard Freeman, MC yogi, and more.
Being a nature-nut, Rivkah left the city to live in Mont-Tremblant and enjoy fresh air and the beautiful night sky on a regular basis. She teaches yoga and guides hikes which are drawing inspiration from nature’s beauty all around.
Rivkah’s classes are fun, all-level Hatha flow (bilingual) with a focus on breath, alignment, and yogic perspectives on life. She is so incredibly grateful for everything.
Since 1982, Eduardo Pimentel has taught yoga and meditation to over 12,000 students all over the island of Cuba. He has studied with various teachers in India and the United States, and has been featured on television both locally and abroad.
Eduardo has always been interested in both physical and mental fitness. In his youth, he was equally interested in both sports, for the physical challenge, and chess, for the mental stimulation. He eventually rejected both as unhealthy due to their competitive nature, reasoning that the ultimate goal of chess is to “kill your opponent”.
His interest in physical and mental practice coalesced in the early 1970s when he read a book on yoga by Swami Sivananda, which began a self-guided journey into a life-long practice of yoga and meditation. It was self-guided because there were no yoga teachers in Cuba at that time and travel abroad was not possible. So, he studied from books for over a decade, while exchanging “airgram” letters (and later meeting) with BKS Iyengar.
The retreat will take place at Mhai Yoga Retreat in Havana, Cuba. The resort is across a beautiful quiet beach, only 15 minutes away from Old Havana - recently named one of the 7 New Wonders of the World. This beautifully secluded atmosphere is perfect for relaxation and rejuvenating your mind, body, and soul. Beautiful beach villas surrounded by lush plants and tropical flowers are the perfect setting for your yoga journey. These villas are situated just steps away from the beach. Take serenity on the outdoor terraces which are perfect for reading or sunset meditation.
There will be three organic healthy meals served each day by an expert local chef using only the best ingredients grown nearby. Although mainly vegetarian, there will be fish and chicken served at some of the meals and there is unlimited coffee and tea. Rivkah Rachel is able to accommodate most dietary restrictions so please let her know. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.
The program includes DIY spa night and aromatherapy workshop. Massage, manicure-pedicure, or facial is also available for free if you book with a friend.
