      Loved it

CONS You get a bet bored of the food. The first week it's great but after that it's just too much of the same. More variety would be great. Luckily there's loads of restaurants around pokhara so it wasn't really a problem :)

PROS Such a great school with amazing teachers. I'll recommend doing this to anyone no matter their experience with yoga. This experience has definetly changed my body and mind to the better!

      Real yoga in pokhara (Nepal)

CONS Unfortunately the food after 2 weeks did not change in variety and sometimes it was too spicy.

PROS I have been really taken by the combination of Hatha practice in the early morning and Ashtanga in the afternoon. It was the perfect insight to allow u to decide wich style u want to deepen. Pranayama and philosophy lessons have been so interesting and well explained. Anatomy was a deep discovery about how our body works.

Best way to learn what you need

CONS The location was a bit loud, construction of other hotels during day- abd music and nightlife during evenings have to be taken into account when coming to beautiful lake side. I guess thats the price you pay for having literally everything a westener can dream of in walking distance....so its a tradeoff but one that you should be aware of.

PROS World class teachers and a detailed but yet smartly compressed curriculum. This professionalism was beyond my expectations and beyond anything i have experienced in my 3 years of intense yoga practice. Chapeau!

"My experience with Rishikul Yogshala in Nepal for my 200 hr YTT was everything I was looking for and more. I came into this course with a desire to acquire tools/training experience for applying out in the working world of yoga. And here I am coming out of it gaining a family, deeper insight into myself and therefore others, teaching tools and techniques, shanti (peace), and a whole new perspective on yoga and what it truly is."

"The teachers and coordinator are incredible people with so much love, humor, wisdom, and knowledge to share - whether in the yoga hall or out, you can't help but feel their passion and knowledge trying to seep into you. The location is wonderful - surrounded by mountains, across the street from Fewa Lake, and in a quaint hotel with a lovely staff and owner."

"I am incredibly thankful for the past month I've spent here. It has truly been a life changing experience that I will forever carry with me and continue. I look forward to the 300 hour course in India!"

    • Review by Tobias from Varkala, Kerala

"A few days ago I completed a 200 hour TTC at Rishikul Yogshala in Kerala. Although I learned a ton, improved many aspects of my yoga practice and feel inspired to go home and share, I can’t shake the feeling of frustration. To give you some context, I’m a 30 year old male from Europe, who values science, reason, logic, evidence, conversation and asking questions. I’ve been studying yoga and meditation for years and enjoy using these wisdoms to explore who and what I am. Among other things, I also despise dogmatism and faith based religion. What bothered me was that teachings of the esoteric and mystical metaphysics of yoga, for example chakran, nadis and panic energy, were taught like if it was scientifically and undoubtedly true. There were no or very little room for discussions and many of the groups questions were left unanswered. Some teachers, rather than earning respect, demanded it, and time after time had a very derogatory tone towards us students. Basically we were asked to leave all of our critical thinking out the door and radically lower our standards for evidence and truth. Some of these classes felt more like an attempt to indoctrinate or brainwash."

"With that said, there were also many great thing about the course. Most teachers were very knowledgeable and inspiring. The group of 17 students felt very warm and close after just a few days, and I really felt comfortable with everyone during the course. All the meals were surprisingly good and diverse, though it got a bit repetitive during the last week. Despite the things I struggled with I leave the course feeling happy and inspired, and feel grateful for the effort all the teachers and the staff put in to make this a great and knowledgeable experience for all the students. Thank you!"

"If you are like me, don’t go to this school. If you don’t mind being told what to think and believe about reality, maybe you would enjoy this course. Many of my peer students did."

"Either way, remember to be doubtful, ask questions and think for yourself."

      "Management Response from Rishikul Yogshala:"

      "Hello Tobias. "

"Hope you are doing well. "

"First of all, we would like to thank you for taking time out and provide us with your valuable feedback. Every feedback and suggestion is important to us as they help us improve our courses and services. We appreciate and respect your thoughts and viewpoints. "

"As you know, our TTC program is limited to a month’s time and our primary focus is teaching the aspects of yoga that has been followed and observed since the beginning of yoga. We agree a lot of these teachings and logics may not apply to every aspect of the modern day world and there are indefinite possibilities of science not agreeing with the facts stated in the study of yoga philosophy. After all, philosophy has seldom walked hand in hand with the factuality of science. We are certain that over time with more development in the two fields, there will be a common ground where one agrees with the other in most if not all aspects. "

"We really apologize for the way you felt about our teachers and discussions. Please believe us when we say that all these suggestions and feedback have been discussed with the teachers who taught your program. Our teachers have been practicing and training these subjects for as long as we know and we say it on behalf of all of them that nobody’s intention was to defy anybody’s values or principles in any way. At the same time, we also have to understand that you and we are from different schools of religion and culture and it is only fair that we give each other that benefit of doubt and a fair chance. "

"You would agree when we say that the origins of yogic science is deep rooted in our culture since its birth here and we try and do our best to ensure that the knowledge and wisdom is shared equally amongst students who put their trust in us enough to come train with us. There are a lot of such matters that yoga is still trying to explore and likewise, there are many theories that science is still trying to prove. "

"In no way any of us intended to brainwash or manipulate any student to forget or disrespect their own beliefs to value ours but at the very beginning of the training, we mentioned that there will be differences – culturally and otherwise that all of you would feel and see from time to time. Also, nobody can ever truly define reality, can we? But, what we can do is accept that there will be differences everywhere we go and that it is entirely on us to take what we like and leave what we don’t with from a place we visit or people we meet. In no way, any of it can be forced on one another or else the whole process of learning through exploring different cultures will be defeated. "

"We have been training students for many years and when we say this we say it with utmost honesty that we have never been told that any of our students felt their knowledge or viewpoints were disrespected. Also, we understand that with so many students and so little time, it may have been difficult for the teachers to answer all questions at all times but if in any way you felt that it was done deliberately, we sincerely apologize for the same. "

"Last but not least, we really appreciate all the kind words you shared with us about our teachers and arrangements and they only inspire us to keep improving and do better. "

"Once again, we thank you from the deepest corner of our heart and wish you all the best for the journey that lay ahead of you and we hope you will stay in touch. "

      "Best wishes, Team Rishikul Yogshala"

" I had a wonderful experience there. It was honestly everything I could have hoped for in a 300 hour YTT and more. The teachers and the staff in general were AWESOME- so knowledgeable, so kind and caring, so informative and helpful. All around amazing people that I hope to meet again one day. The class size was perfect- 10 students is a great size. Many more than that would be too much, as I know was the consensus for the 200 hour students with 40+ in their class! Also, I'm really happy we got manuals for our training, but we had to continually ask to have them printed in order to receive them. That should not happen. A manual for a 200 or 300 hour course should be handed to us on the day of our orientation before the program begins. They are easy and cheap to print in India and it is a staple for a course to have a manual, no questions. We had amazing classes, especially our Hatha and Ashtanga classes! I loved our mudra and mantra classes, yoga nidra, philosophy, and anatomy! Honestly I loved them all - each teacher was unique and had his or her own style. I would have liked to have some yoga therapy incorporated in the course, as we were told that we would study that and I was really looking forward to it. But even though we were told it would be, for whatever reason it was not part of our program. I think it's important to keep us a bit more up to date on what is included in each course specifically since the trainings are all a bit different each month and it seems like what is listed as being included on the website is more of a general listing and not so specific to the month. The excursions and field trips were wonderful. Super fun and worthwhile. I loved the white water rafting and the yoga at sunrise on the top of the mountain! Absolutely beautiful. The food was at Rishikul was incredible. So sattvic and healthy and nourishing. I loved that it was vegan; it was my favorite style of food and if I could continue to eat in this way throughout my life, I would. I have never felt so healthy and happy as I did when I was at Rishikul- now the key is to bring this feeling to the world outside rishikesh! The studio we practiced in at the top of our hotel was gorgeous- new and had great 360 degree views of the city and mountains. The apartments in my building (I can't remember the name of the building but it was the one where the 300 hour students stayed) were a nice size and I loved the balconies and mattress was fantastic!! But they really have to get new sheets and WASH the bedding!! The bedding needs to be washed in between each guest, especially if they are not going to make the bed with a top sheet. The comforter had dirt and hair on it which was quite appalling. And the laundry prices in that building need to be posted as well OR they should be the same as in the main building where reception is. Lastly, I love the idea of silence during meals. I love eating in silence But the technique needs to be a bit different for it actually to work for the students. I think the students need to be told right in the beginning that meals are silent, what the reason is for meals to be silent, and that this practice will be enforced. And maybe there is one or two tables or some inside seating where meals are not silent if people really need to talk. But the passive aggressive way in which it was enforced did not seem to work so well. Again, I love and appreciate the concept, I just think it needs to be discussed with the students ( and it was not for the 300 hour students) for it to work and be appreciated. I am very happy with the overall experience at Rishikul and would go back and study or work there in a heartbeat. I would give them a 9.3. Thank you thank thank you for such an amazing and fulfilling experience."

    • Review by Ee Crovetto from Koh Lanta, Thailand

"My 200 hrs YTT experience has been awesome and transformative, spiritually enriching, just like it has been for all my fellow students, one by one for different reasons. All 42 of us, yes it was a big group, felt filled up with gratitude and joy at the end of this intense month. But having said this, I want to say something different as well: I feel grown in my knowledge and confident to go out there and teach others safely and comprehensively now. I was already a teacher (not in yoga), but I got given the tools, the deeper knowledge behind it all. And that it worth a lot. The "technical/practical" knowledge from anatomy, alignment & adjustment, pranayama, the root principles of the "how & why" as well as the philosophical, meditative and spiritual aspects of yoga as a way of life, have been explained to us with a patience and thoroughness than can only come from passion. The focus on safety and the immense background yoga stems from, could only be taught so intrinsically in Rishikesh, where it all originated. Rishikesh is a magical place, worth visiting regardless and we took a few trips to nature and temples that were in one word breath taking, by the way. Like I mentioned before our group was big, but the school split the group in two for the practical sessions, so we could still get the needed attention. And I am glad the group was so big, because I met 42 seriously amazing people, and the input and questions everyone brings into the group are only enriching. Never was there any animosity, or clickiness, the atmosphere was always great, everyone was helpful and fun, ohhh we laughed so much as well! Thank you teachers, no actually gurus, for being there for us, with all of your heart, with a true love for yoga - and I am sure I speak for at least a few of us when I say we will try and come back to Yogshala for more."

"Overall, I found the Rishikul Yogshala in Rishikesh to be a great experience. The staff was incredibly kind. Deepa goes out of her way to make you feel at home. The staff is very kind and helpful as well. For example, I saw a spinal specialist during my stay due to back issues that at the time. A member of staff, Nitin drove me to see the specialist every three days and never once asked for reimbursement of petrol. Additionally, he was very kind and waited patiently for my appointment to end. That kind of hospitality truly makes Rishikul Yogshala feel like a home and not just a yoga school. Additionally, it speaks volumes on the character of the staff."

"All the teachers are very knowledgeable and are open to answering questions. They really do want to make sure that the students understand the material. The ashtanga teacher Prashantj was excellent and was very accommodating to helping me find ways to work around my back. Additionally, it is clear that Deepa loves the work she does and is extremely knowledgeable on pranayama, meditation and mantra. Her classes always brightened my day. She was truly an inspiration and I have been practicing what she taught in class since!"

"I only have a couple critiques overall. Firstly, the cleanliness of my room and bathroom when I arrived was slightly lacking. It looked as though only a minor sweeping had been done vs. a dusting and wipe down before my arrival. That being said, cleaning standards of Westerners vs. what you can expect in India are very different (this is not a bad thing! Just simply a cultural difference). Secondly, most non-asana classes will not provide physical handouts. You will be listening and taking notes. As someone with a auditory processing disorder, I found this at times a little hard to keep up with. Additionally, some non-native English speaker classmates at times struggled as well. That being said, the teachers would slow down and repeat information as necessary. Perhaps just a syllabus of what to expect in each class could help with before class studying to help keep students who struggle a bit on track. However, these critiques are incredibly minor in the grand scheme of my experience!"

"Simply, I enjoyed my stay immensely. It was a life changing experience and I am so grateful for Rishikul Yogshala. I would highly recommend the course to others and cannot speak highly enough of the staff and teachers. I already look forward to returning even if only for a week long yoga retreat. If you are looking to deepen your practice and have a life changing experience, Rishikul Yogshala is the place for you! "

      "Organizer Response:"

"Thank you for such an amazing feedback and thank you for investing your valuable time detailing significant points where we need to act upon. We are extremely alarmed by your statement regarding cleanliness issue and will definitely make sure that such things should not happen in future. Thank you for your advice for the handouts, already we are working on making our own book but to ensure we give the best to our students, we are working on minute details like correction of language and pictures of our teachers. Hope soon we will achieve this and start giving best manuals. We are glad to know your wonderful experience with us and hope to see again in our advanced training."

"My experience of my teacher training 200hr course at Rishikul Yogshala was incredible. From the moment you entered the school, the staff and teachers were friendly and kind, and the atmosphere was completely welcoming and relaxing. I immediately felt at home and by the end of the month I felt like part of a huge family. Nothing is too much trouble, everyone forms close bonds and everywhere is clean and homely. The food is amazing and the staff take care of everything, so you can focus on your classes. All of the teachers are so knowledgeable and I learnt so much from them - I just wish I could have absorbed even more. The classes were all valuable in their own way and really well balanced between them all. The practical asana classes were tough, so be prepared to work hard, but you soon get into a routine and crave the daily exercise. I was physically and mentally challenged, but in such a good way. I left having learnt so much and feeling totally prepared to teach and continue my yoga journey - and I also left with a huge group of new friends/family, an extended yoga community to talk to and excited to come back at some point for my 300hr course!"

"My trip to Rishikul Yogshala was amazing, and seriously life changing! I booked it last minute and so glad it all came through! Everyone there was friendly and helpful. Inevitably you will get sick from the food at least once unless you've been to India before. So it was really great that Susheel knocked on my door to ask about me and see how I was doing. He gave me great meds and I was back to normal the next day! I also asked the kitchen to make plain boiled potatoes for me and they did. For cooking class, I asked to learn what I really wanted to and they did also :) Just speak your mind because they listen and accommodate! Love them for that!! The place itself is very quaint and not without flaws but the staff, the location and the yoga training more than make up for any flaws. I learned to live in peace with a wasps nest in my room. Although if I asked they would've sprayed it but I didn't want that. The monkeys are so entertaining and funny! You have to be careful because they bite, so be nice and they will be nice back. They steal though! So hide your bananas and mangos ..hahaha. The food is great, but again, ask for what you need because sometimes they are not aware. I needed more protein from beans. It took a couple days to get the word back to the chef but when it did, he made same amazingly tasty bean dishes for us. The side trips were awesome on our days off and I fully enjoyed every single trip!! For the first time in my life I can say that I had a proper Hatha Yoga instructor who made me love it! Thanks Manoj Ji for doing a great job! I admire you, and honored to say I'm your student! Deepa Ji is the best meditation teacher ever and I miss her already! And Prashant is an Ashtanga instructor that blows my mind by the things he can do. I wish to be like him one day :) I pushed myself as much as they did and maybe a bit more. I surprised myself by what I accomplished by the 3rd and 4th weeks, and I've very proud. Overall I'm super happy with the 200-hour teacher training and couldn't have asked for more."

"Doing my teacher training with Rishikul was the most amazing experience. I have grown and learnt so much in just one month. What really makes the course special is the teachers- they are known as the best yoga teachers in Rishikesh for a reason. They all brought so much experience, dedication and passion to their teachings, and were always open to helping us with any difficulties. It is also good that the classes are so small. In our batch there were only twelve people. This meant that we got lots of individual help, and also that we became a really close family on our yoga journey. The food and rooms are good, and the staff are so ready to help with any special requests. I would definitely recommend the school to anyone who wants to train as a teacher, or just to really deepen their practice. Hari Om!"

"10 out of 10I attended the Rishikul Yogshala in Kerala, December 2015, for the 200 hour TTC course, which finished in January 2016. I have waited a couple of weeks before submitting my feedback, only to ensure that it is a truly grounded review. These opinions are my own personal thoughts, based upon my visit.Travelling alone, many hours in the sky, going to a country where I have never been before. Spending a whole month (which happened to be over Christmas and New Year), just doing Yoga, with complete strangers. sounds crazy right? Youd be wrong. From leaving Manchester airport on a dull, damp December morning to arriving back to an equally dull and damp January morning - the whole journey and experience was truly life enhancing.I have been a Yogi for 5 years prior, so I guess I knew how to twist, bend, hold, breathe, etc. But, the course teaches so much more. So very much more.If you are considering this course, you are guaranteed an experience. Its no picnic. its intense. Its hard. Hard for the body, mind, emotions. But the benefits are worth every moment spent there.Youll wake before the birds. Youll be tired. Youll ache. But, you will learn so much. You will eat exceptional food. Youll have lessons and conversations that will open your mind. Youll experience a different life, a different culture. Youll learn from the best teachers.Accommodation was basic and, in honesty, it did raise a few initial comments. But, be assured, any issues or problems you have will be promptly dealt with by the RY team. In reality, you shouldnt need anything other than a clean room, a bed, a bathroom, somewhere to hang your clothes and a ceiling fan. Internet access was good. It occasionally went off - but overall there were no issues. Electricity went off sometimes too. But, it really wasnt a big issue. At our Graduation the lack of electricity in the building only enhanced the ceremony. Truly wonderful. The Yoga was excellent. The words come to the top of your mat, feet together. begin the journey through to Savasana. Amazing. Youll begin class with Om, Shanti and perhaps a mantra. Youll end the class with Om, Shanti, Namaste. The divine in me honours the divine in you. From master to students, truly respectful.Yoga Philosopy a journey into a time once known by everyone, but forgotten. This journey helps us remember what I is all about. Fascinating.Pranayama was enlightening. Nidra and Meditation - beautiful. The Ayurveda was excellent. Ayurvedic philosophy was very in-depth. Again, honestly, perhaps a little too in-depth for the level we were at, but most certainly interesting and beneficial. Teacher training was invaluable. The teachers are extremely knowledgeable and experienced and I consider that I have been taught by the best. A huge thank you to all the team. Master Bipin Baloni, Manouj, Deepa, Kaczenja, Pranajee, Gangesh, Dr Santosh (Patanjali Clinic), therapists from Namaste. The staff and volunteers at the TTC, Gerutze, Olivia, Justine, Tania, Manmohan, and everyone else who made this experience My fellow students, Geanina, Daria (& Matthew), Emmely, Karen, Ashley, Holly, Javenca, Tamzin, Brielle, Ben, Gwyneth, Ryhs and the lovely Papaya Girls. Renata, Andrea, Mira. Thank you all for being there too. Amazing spirits.I will return.Leave your ego behind. "

"Open your mind. Open your heart. Smile to yourself."

"Most importantly, thank yourself for having the courage to pursue this experience. "

"Thank yourself for stepping onto your Yoga mat. "

      "It will be life enhancing."

"I have completed 200 hours yoga teacher training with Rishicul yogshala December 2015 in beautiful Varkala, Kerala. I must say it was an amazing time and a fantastic experience. Off course you are coming to India so certain things are much different then what you know but after a while you will actually appreciate it for its unique ways, so chill out and enjoy. I recommend having no preconceptions and just going with it. You might learn something new about yourself, you never know. The course itself is well put together. Teachers are excellent and opened to share all they know about the subject and always responding, if there is a need of improvement. It is a great introduction to yoga but also for already practising a nice push to deepen ones practise. Ayurveda is an added bonus and complements the yogic lifestyle very well. You can learn many things that will enhance your health and make you more Intune with yourself. The atmosphere of the course has a lot to do with people that come together and I have been really lucky. We had a ball. I will always remember them- because they are never off the Face book :)"

"We had a wonderful yoga retreat at Rishikul yogshala. I was not sure how it would work with our various skill levels, hence the reason we chose this particular retreat was the fact that they offered may excursions and it was well worth it. The accommodations were good, food was good but the timing of the meals served were a bit late for our personal schedules.Classes were very informative and valuable. One gets so much attention on a retreat, you really need to be prepared to tell them exactly what you want to learn and gain from the experience. I feel they listened very well to what I wanted to take from this experience,I could have asked for more and it would have been met. There was a bit of a disconnect between the Bookyogaretreats and the ashram itself which created some temporary anxiety, but I would do it again as the responsiveness of Bookyogaretreats and the ashram was very good while I was making plans. I learned while traveling in India (for the first time). Internet connections are spotty and telephones become difficult to use. Learn how to make a phone call in that country before leaving and get the sim card you need with plenty of time. Thanks for the great time. I cannot wait to book another retreat!"

"I would describe the Rishikul 200hr program in Nepal as challenging, life changing, and inspiring. The days were really long, but packed with so much new information that I was never bored. I really connected with each of the six instructors and cannot thank them enough for the impact they had and will continue to have in my life. If you're looking for a truly eastern yoga experience, Rishikul is the school for you. I went into this program with no expectations and graduated a truly satisfied student.Besides the wonderful instruction, I met sixteen amazing people with whom I shared many hard yet happy times with. I love my yoga family and I have a feeling we'll see each other quite often over the years."

"Inspiring, life-changing and unforgettable! Rishikul has filled 4 weeks with something to suit every type of yogi: physically intensive, deeply spiritual or curiously theoretical. The teachers go above and beyond to ensure this course is well worth your while: food to cater to very specific diets (varied and very delicious!), mini field trips that were the highlight of the course and always making sure to be available to you.My training was in Lakeside Pokhara, Nepal. It's setup in a hotel and it worked surprisingly well: central location, great facilities and amazing staff.Be prepared for long days but, if you keep an open mind, Rishikul's YTT is bound to change you."

The Tulsi hotel was fantastic, the staff was great, the food superb and the rooms clean and very nice. It is located very close to the lake, but at the same time central."

"The teachers did a fantastic job- All of them are very unique, energetic, motivating and very professional. The schedule was well thought through, the variety of topics are amazing and made the whole day seem very short and entertaining.I have learnt so many things about yoga, myself & my body, about my life. Learning more about yoga truly became a month of learning more about life and myself. Give yourself a gift and take the 200 YTT program (or other program offered)! "I am making a complaint about Rishikul Yoga Shala, and whether they should be endorsed by your establishment as I feel I have been cheated and not got a yoga teacher training from them. This has to be the worst YTTC course on offer I have come across and I have looked at 5 different courses and quit one because it wasnt good enough. But it was far better than this.Point 1. Course notes non-existent until I demanded them. Not printed and not given to us. Just a computer file of which English was terrible and parts that were in good English were blatantly copied from the Internet. Often just chunks of material not even connected to yoga in anatomy. Appeared they hadnt been given to us because the school had been accused of plagiarism. I tried to help them by amending their course notes and connecting them more to the yoga and lectures they gave, I did this for them for free and there was little thanks for this, in fact I was insulted for questioning some blatant errors in the notes.Point 2. Course notes should give summary of each class and have questions and reading material before class. There was nothing.Point 3. There should be simple weekly tests and or assignments marked by the teacher for each class subject. There was nothing.Point 4. 70% of the teaching should be on us being shown how to teach and then us demonstrating this to each other in groups and to the class. So far almost 0% on this bar one feeble effort one day by one teacher after I complained about it. Basically the yoga classes we have are exactly that, just yoga classes with no teaching to teach them.Point 5. There should be a one hour class given by us which we did but got no training for how to do it and a one hour exam to test our knowledge. The latter is missing. The above points are standard with all YTTC's I previously looked into.Point 6. Adjustments did correct mistakes I had been making for a long time and Prashan is very precise here, however I have been subjected to extreme adjustments by this teacher in particular that have caused temporary injury to me and the most dangerous I have experienced in 20 years of yoga. Far too extreme. The other students and school may not think they are dangerous because many of the students dont know yoga and their bodies may be young and flexible and can be pushed that hard, but they may also have been injured without realising it.Point 7. Many classes have been the same repetitive stuff over and over again. I refer to mantra, pranayama, meditation, and the sitting breath Hatha yoga class at 12 each day which was dumped on us after Vipin left and ended our adjustment classes for no apparent reason than him teaching in Vietnam for two weeks. We are not being taught how to teach, nor being asked to teach these methods (bar 2 people briefly). But nothing in pranayama or mantra. And really nothing in the Ashtanga and Hatha classes. The yoga philosophy classes are a jumbled hotch potch of information with no clear purpose ending up with an old guru being brought in waffling on about contemplating ones navel not related to the syllabus.Point 8. It is just far too much to cover learning Ashtanga and Hatha yoga postures in a month. They should choose one or the other to teach. Consequently we have barely learnt the routine, without having learnt how to teach. We lost our one decent teacher Vipin who is very good at the postures but cannot teach students to teach each other. He left after a week who was replaced by an amateur. Teaching of handstand was terrible to beginners. If I saw one of you in a class show five different postures in a row then expect your students to follow this then I would fail you, but this is how they teach here. This school is a disaster. How we are expected to teach a one hour class is beyond me. Our times set aside to learn how to teach on the days off had no one there to guide us. We were meant to do it ourselves. Unbelievable!Point 9. It is misleading to call this YTTC, should be called Yoga Introduction Studies. If so I wouldnt have taken the course. No one will be qualified to teach from this. But we would have if you had taken aproper YTTC. Students have given this school a good rating thinking this is good because they dont know any yoga schools, have virtually no experience of real yoga and dont know what a proper YTTC is and have been sucked in by slick young Indian male yoga teachers who flirt with the almost all female students most of whom are young and gullible and are enjoying a taste of exotic India and its spirituality. If they did know about yoga they would be agreeing with me that this is terrible. I have done 20 years of yoga.Point 10. One yoga teacher in adjustment class after I complained about his adjustments, went out of his way to humiliate me in front of the class when I laughed. He discriminated against my age at 51. When I explained my laughing was harmless and nothing to do with him, he wouldnt accept this and kept on attacking me in the class saying I was trying to make a fool of him.Point 11. I spoke for several hours to the school and students about this. I was assured by a representative called Maran that he would take my complaint seriously and make changes to the school. He even offered to let me do yoga classes in the next course for free, however when I contacted him by email to find out what they were doing he simply ignored many emails. And never replied.Point 12. One student left the course after a week called Satra due to the yoga philosophy teacher losing control of his class. Satra was asking intelligent questions but then was viciously attacked by several students who didnt like her and didnt want her to speak. One of these students yelled abuse at her for 15 minutes while the teacher did nothing. She left the course. Was not given her money back bar 15%. I got a promise from the head of the school, Vipin to let her complete the course in the next one. When she had purchased her airfare to come back and do this course the school changed her mind and wouldnt let her back saying they were booked out. She lost an airfare from Europe due to this lying to me by Vipin. It is just an example of disorganisation, lack of preparation in the classes where a teacher would come in and ask the students what he had been teaching last class because they couldnt remember this happened often with many of the teachers who would often arrive late so class time was lost, rudeness to students, lack of knowledge how to teach and general incompetence and arrogance in the school.Point 13: the yoga philosophy teacher would spend an entire class on one point giving a kind of poor English lesson with clown impersonations miming and flirting to the young women get his point across to students who couldnt speak English so much material was missed. He also would insult western lifestyle and western people in general in his classes arrogantly stating yoga was the answer to this. He taught the yoga vedas as if they were literal truth, in other words the yugahs as 10,000 years ago in Satya period people existed only in subtle body and all continents joined together. Etc. When I questioned this I was attacked and insulted for being ignorant and barbaric and stupid. Consequently the other students blamed me for criticising the school. And the school told me that I was disrespectful to Indian ways and that the way they taught was their tradition. However, this is not true, Indian yoga schools such as Bihar and Sivananda, teach the yoga as I have outlined in the above points. It is just incompetence by this school.Point 14. Yoga Alliance should investigate this school by visiting it and asking for their course material, and remove their license from this school. It is not a YTTC.I am sorry if this disappoints people but it is just the facts and I am pretty angry about it. Borderline want my money back."

"I highly recommend Rishikul Yogshala to everyone practicing all levels of yoga. I attended the 200 hour TTC July 2015 and I still glow every time I think about my experience. The curriculum is just amazing and well designed. The course is very intense and it covers deeply lots of subject. The day starts at 5.30 in the morning with Hatha classes, followed by pranayama and mantra or yoga nidra. After breakfast, there are yoga philosophy classes followed by anatomy classes. After lunch, adjustment and alignment classes are really interesting and important (to be able to know how to correct your own asanas and your future students' too). I was also able to deepen my practice in ashtanga day by day as each posture is taught one by one. And after ashtanga the day finishes with meditation at18:00. So a very intense day covering all kind of yoga aspects to give you a better understanding of yoga.Teachers are outstanding, extremely professional and enthusiastic, you can't get enough of their wisdom. I learned important lessons about yoga and the yogic life and the course gave me a solid foundation to continue exploring and expanding my knowledge in yoga. I had a wonderful experience at Rishikul yogshala. The school met all my expectations and in some cases were exceeded. And the food is delicious organic vegetarian food from the Himalayas. Don't miss this amazing experience!"

"Thanks to my sister who did the full course in July in Rishikesh, Ive had the priviledge of attending for 2 weeks the 200 hrs classes taught by Rishikul Yogshala in Pokhara, Nepal and it really is a shame that I couldn't stay for 2 more weeks to complete the whole course. I didn't expect at all to soak so much both the lifestyle and philosophy of yoga even when my sister had warned me that the course was really intense.Everything the teachers transmit around the world of yoga is incredible: they are like open books accessible at all times; even after their classes, they are always there to help you with any questions you might have . From hatha and ashtanga yoga classes with Vipin to Pranayama and meditation classes with Tyagaraj as well as philosophy and anatomy classes with Gangesh and mantra and yoga Nidra classes with Deepa and Kavita they are all worthwhile.Whether you are a beginner or a regular yoga practitioner, wanting to train as a yoga teacher or just fancying a dip in the world of yoga, do not hesitate to sign for any of the courses by Rishikul Yogshala, whether it is in Pokhara or any of their other places in India."

"I took both the 200 and 300 YTTC at Rishikul Yogshala and the sister yoga school, Akshi Yogshala. My journey with the excellent teachers, and staff was quite an experience that changed my life forever. Many programs can offer someone the culture of India being based out of India, but what this amazing group of people gave to not only I but also many others the soul better yet the prana that is yoga.Accommodations are more than just comfortable, every need was met and every question answered, and each lesson more valuable than the next. Rishikul Yogshala operates like a family unit, which I believe makes the difference between a good and great organization. The experience of the course is set by your own capabilities, which each Master personally seeks to expound upon making you greater than you ever could hope to be. The program offers an array of benefits that replenish the heart, body, mind, and spirit with courses, which consisted of Shat Kriya, Philosophy, Anatomy, Mantra, Alignment, Yoga Nidra, Pranayama, along with the classical wellknown aspects of yoga, which are Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa. The yogshalas are both located in Ram Jhula a small village in Rishekish city, which is a jewel of India and the Yoga Capital of the world. A Holy city which will capture the attention of even the most skeptical individual and give them a sense of Spiritual awakening to new cultures and a new way of living. Rishikesh is home to the most welcoming and open people sure to bring a smile to ones face and warmth to the heart. The Ganga River a powerful connection to the Hindu faith and imminent source of life runs through the town revitalizing everything and everyone who are fortunate enough to see and experience the mystical source which is mother Ganga. The traditional Festivals of the town brought many near and far to the city such as the month of Shiva, Guru Day, Onam festival, Independence Day, festival of brother and sister, and shortly approaching the celebration of Lord Krishna. The locals welcome the increase activity to the city and accommodate the trekkers into their business for food and other refreshments to ensure a safe and comfortable journey to the mountains. The city of Rishikesh offers a splendor of scenic views such as the Beatles ashram, Himalayas, iconic temples, nature trails and majestic water falls. A place filled with holy monks better known as Swamis, yoga masters, and citizens all field with the essence that makes Indias beauty deeper and more prevalent to those from other nations and walks of life. A place where every form of life is cherished and treated with the upmost respect can only be found in a place that sees God in everything and everyone. There is a great lesson to be learned from every aspect that creates the environment that is known as Rishikesh city. One that I am happy to observe and learn as I continue to explore Life, truth, and beauty, which lies in this town and its people."

"I signed up for the yoga teacher training in Nepal, which turned out to be disastrously unorganized, and so I left. I left after 1 day and they still managed to take 30% of my money. They advertised it would be no more than 15 people, it was in fact 40. When we arrived, there was no room to practice yoga in, so we did outside on an old carpet. It was terribly noisy, and the teachers seemed unqualified to manage such a large group of girls. That evening, they came into my room around 10 and told me to pick up my stuff and move downstairs, they had messed up the living situations.I asked to leave the following morning, and the owner, Maron, was completely not understanding, and in fact rude. It was unclear whether I would get any money back, until I talked to one of the American teachers, who seemed to help wrangle some of my money. Needless to say, it was stressful, unorganized and a nightmare. I talked to several girls who went on to complete the course, who told me it did not improve, and only got worse by time."

"Rishikul Yogshala is a fantastic school! The teachers are all incredibly knowledgable and have so much to share. It is a pretty intense 30 days but absolutely worth it. This course really opened up my eyes to Yoga and the depth it can go. Learning about philosophy to anatomy to the different methods of meditation has enabled me to embrace the spiritual side and not just focus on the asana. However that being said learning the primary series has changed my life and finally given me the ability to practice on my own. I got exactly what I wanted from this course. The only downfalls were the temporary facilities in Nepal were not ideal and the class size was larger than expected. However we all expressed our concerns and they have taken it on board and looking to make changes for the next session. I believe if you want the true full experience better to go to Rishikesh and take the course there."

"Inspired to share knowledge with love”"

"I completed the 200 hour course a week ago and I enjoyed every moment of it. Not only was I challenged physically, topics within pranayama and philosophy forced me to look inside at my own perspectives of the world and of myself. I particularly enjoyed having a broad range of teachers from all walks of life, varying in age and reasons for wanting to share yoga. While sometimes topics discussed can be hard to follow, I feel confident that I can now form my own viewpoint on the yogic way of life, drawing on each of the teachers' perspectives. The biggest thing needed for this kind of study is an open mind and all expectations left at home! I have already recommended the course to fellow travellers. I have also been keeping up the good habits of 5:30am practice, finding somewhere to roll out my mat wherever I am (while this has only been a week, this is a big achievement for me given I usually only wake much later!). It's also been lovely to have a few people at hostels already trusting me to guide them through practice. Completing this course feels like the start of a great journey and I can't wait to return to the Rishikul family in the future to continue my yoga study!"

"200 Hours Yoga Teacher Training - Recommended a million times over!”"

"It's been exactly two months since I completed my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at Rishikul Yogshala. Though I've not until now had a chance to to leave a review, there's not a day gone by since leaving that my mind hasn't wandered back to Rishikesh and I can still feel the positive physical and spiritual effects that were imprinted upon me. "

"I've worked in the fitness and nutrition industry for a million years but my intention behind my return to Rishikul (after joining a retreat with the school last April) was very much a one of personal development and healing - and I received everything I could have hoped for and more! "

"The teachers and staff warmed my heart everyday, the Ayurvedic food made every cell in my body happy and healthy, I found friends -for -life and most importantly the Teacher Training itself opened my mind and body up to a world of knowledge I could never have imagined. "

"We learned core philosophies, physical practices, theories and all the basics you would naturally expect from a top quality Yoga school but what I appreciated most from my experience at Rishikul was the genuine efforts from everyone who went the extra mile at all times and exceeded expectations (which you soon learn to drop anyway as a Yogi in training ). "

"This evidentially came about from the passion and love the school has for sharing, inspiring and guiding students in everything Yoga. "

"If you're thinking about doing a YTT course you're most likely asking questions about accommodation, food, curriculum and assessments - or at least these were the things I was concerned about when seeking out a course. "

"Accommodation and food I can tell you hands down you will be hard pressed to find better, the course curriculum extended beyond the basics with additional electives such as laughing yoga, dance yoga and even a traditional cooking class. We were given a unique opportunity to raft down Mother Ganga which was such an awesome experience."

"The schedule keeps you busy but is realistic in terms of timings and you're having so much fun, you hardly notice the early mornings!!! But granted there are some days you are even more grateful for the evening meditation and Yoga Nidra sessions and you had plenty warning and time to prepare for assessments and teachers were always willing to help you out if you felt you needed extra tuition. "

"Practicality wise, the school is in a great location with a safe and simple walk to the river, and bridges to cross to the other side as well as close proximity to some gorgeous cafes to go and have chai or a smoothie and just chillax between classes."

"If you have ever been to Rishikesh before you'll understand how I became completely enchanted by the place and the people; and if you're new to India or Rishikesh, you'll soon know this to be true. There's no better place to learn and practice Yoga - The energy that buzzes around you is relaxing yet totally energising all at the same time and the sunsets are to die for!"

"Needless to say, I'm heading back - 300hours is on the cards and I have a whole lot more exploring to do. "

"Upon reflection, the most precious Yogic knowledge I gained whilst on both my Retreat and 200hour YTT at Rishikul Yogshala was what I learned about myself - 'Know Thyself' - 'swaim ko jano' - is my mantra now. Know who you are, what you are and how to love and be loved. "

"Whether you've lost your way in life, or simply want to expand your physical practice and teach your knowledge to others, Rishikul is the place for you. You will fall in love with it - I certainly did in more ways than one."

This week has helped open my heart, eyes & soul. Not only did we learn asana, pranayama, cleansing, philosophy, Ayurvedic, mantra, dance yoga & meditation... we also visited within the jungle- Baba (a spiritual devotee) who lives in a cave, saw the sun rise above the Himalayas, experience arti (a daily fire ceremony where locals thank the Devine for thge sun, river & life), practiced asana twice outside, learnt vegan Indian cooking & had an unforgettable New Year's Eve releasing lanterns with positive intentions into the night sky. Before every meal (which was amazing vegan food) we said our oms, mantra & shantis! This gently reminded us that we are lucky to be able to eat when many can't and to be grateful always. "

"Thank you to Nitin Chotwani, Deepa Negi Mira, Krishna & the teacher trainer students who took us into their family at Rishikul Yogshala... you will forever be in our hearts."

"We have had the great pleasure of joining 200hrs Yoga at Fusion Maia Resort Da Nang, Viet Nam with Mr Vipin from India Rishikul Yogsala School. We do express our appreciation towards all the GM, Owners, manager and staff that made the arrangement for our smooth yoga training."

"Our teacher was Mr Vipin, he is an outstanding teacher helping all to explore the gift of yoga. During the class, he explained very well, with patience and kindly attitude, we have learned a lot and had so much fun in yoga class. He has ability to understand quickly all students’ body and to manage our flexibility. He knows pretty well our limits and how to go to our over limits. Only in 10 days, our body was opened up a lot with regular and routine practice. Our mind was cheered up with positive energy."

"Almost one month of class was really awesome. We learnt many things from it. It taught us how to handle things in life, each day was a different experience for us. We never expected that we will fall in love with Yoga, but now we change our mind, we push ourselves further every day and explore physically, mentally and emotionally."

"It has been an eye opening experience, an unforgettable experience and we are honored to have been a part of it. Now we know the power of yoga and its benefit for health and mind. We would like to give our great appreciation to Mr Vipin for pushing our limit on achieving our best attempt on different asana. You are amazing, Vipin!"

I am so grateful for my experience with Rishikul Yogshala, it is a moment in time that I will remember for the rest of my life. The teachers are amazing! They are inspiring, funny, compassionate and so much more. This school helped me to rediscover the greatness within allowing me to grow in ways that I could have never imagined. Because of Rishikul Yogshala, I am stronger mentally, physically and spiritually. There are truly no words to describe the entire experience, just something you must undergo on your own. The people, food, location, stay, everything is incredible. I loved my classmates (family) and the entire staff that helped out. I look forward to continue my education with Rishikul Yogshala. - Love Yana"

      "“Yoga Instructor Training”"

"I highly recommend the Nepal 200 hr yoga instructor training. The instructors were great as was the location. They did a great job of presenting a wealth of information in a very short space of time and with a lot of love and humor. Going to this training is one of the best things that I have done for myself and especially my practice. If you do go, go with an open mind and heart and possibly some recovery protein The yoga asana training was more intense and rewarding than my personal practice and left my muscles a bit sore, but stronger. It's not necessary but would have helped me heal and advance faster. The course really has changed me for the better and helped prepared to teach in the future. I can't recommend it more highly."

"“A Life Changing Experience - 2 Thumbs Up!”"

"I recently completed the YTT 200-hour yoga teacher training offered by Rishikul Yogshala at the Pokhara, Nepal. This course offered a high quality, comprehensive training in all aspects of yoga from philosophy and anatomy to pranayama breathing, meditation and of course, asanas with hatha and ashtanga techniques. I have never had yoga classes that were this intense and focused and I loved every minute of it, even if my body was aching afterward! I learned so much and am still processing it all, now a month after graduating. "

"The teachers were so passionate and deeply committed to offering a challenging and informative learning environment. I wish it could have lasted longer, because I felt that I was ready to go deeper into the practice but it all ended too soon. "

"My fellow students were a wonderfully diverse mix of men and women from 12 different countries, and those friendships will certainly last a lifetime. "

"Our accommodation was decent, at a small hotel in the heart of Pokhara. The vegetarian meals were of excellent quality and the routine tea service between classes was a very nice touch. My private room was very comfortable but my only comment would be on the temperature control and wifi were inconsistent. I had a hard time adjusting to the heat, so I took a lot of showers. But other than that, it's a great spot. "

"I would highly recommend this school for anyone looking to deepen their practice, or to become a yoga teacher. The culture and ideas we were exposed to was invaluable to my own growth as a human being. I am already planning to go to their India location for additional training sometime in the future."

"The Yoga Teachers Training course by Rishikul Yogshala in Nepal changed my life. It gave me a deeper knowledge about yoga than ever before, and also a commitment to practice every day, and teach what I had learnt. Taught by highly experienced and talented classical yoga teachers, the hands on practice sessions and indepth theory classes covered authentic ancient knowledge including a range of poses, meditation, breathing, and philosophy. The teachers take a personal interest in every student during the course and after it. The one month course has a full daily schedule , but with ample time off to go sight seeing on the weekends. One of the best things was meeting so many diverse people with one common goal - immersing the self in the power and beauty of yoga"

"“YTTC in Pokhara, Nepal April 2016”"

"As I sit here planning out the 300hour YTTC through Rishikul Yogshala in Rishikesh, India, I reflect and contemplate on the most amazing experience of my life. Stepping completely out of my comfort zone, i booked a solo trip across the world (I live in BC, Canada) to complete my first yoga training experience. Now, i did not do a whole lot of research. I literally googled YTTC in Nepal, found Rishikul Yogshala, contacted them and reserved my seat. Co-ordinating the trip with them via e-mail was so easy and they were very prompt with responses for the MANY questions and uncertainties to have crossed my mind. Once arrived, my mind was blown. The course was WAY more than i had expected. With a different Master teaching each subject, the course was far from stagnant. The info shared was enough to blow my mind. Having gone with personal struggles, much of what i learned clarified things from throughout my whole life! Deja vu was nearly a daily experience. Most bizzare thing ever. You arrive as complete strangers, but build such a bond that when it comes to an end, you feel as if your heading separate ways from your family. Not only did i leave as a trained Yoga Instructor, but i left with a substantially deep understanding of who i really am, finding a deeper connection with my purpose. So naturally, i have this HUGE gravitational pull to go to Rishikesh, where the institute is based out of. With so many benefits offered through this Yogshala, i will be connected with them for a lifetime! If your going to do a YTTC and you don't know what to expect, then expect to have one of the most eye opening, rivetting, adventurous, bonding moments of your life with so many beautiful souls. I highly recommend any training they have to offer with my first, but far from last experience with them! Much love and Gratitude for all my Masters and i can't wait to meet the others in Rishikesh that I've heard so much about. Good luck on your journey, enjoy every moment no matter what you do! Much love to all, Namaste."

"“Great 200YTT for students from all background”"

"I joined the Rishikul Yogshala 200YTT in Nepal and it has been one of the best decisions I've made all year. The experience with the school really opened up my eyes and changed my life. "

"The teacher training program held in Nepal is comprehensive, intimate, and accessible to students of all levels. The best part about this program is that, unlike many popular programs in Rishikesh, the group size is much smaller - meaning you get more attention from teachers and even get to know them (and vice versa) on a more personal level. "

"While the training is intensive, days run from about 6am to about 7pm, we were given plenty and sufficient time for rest and exploration. One of the best excursions provided for us was up to Sarangkot to catch the sunrise over the Annapurna Range and then proceed to do yoga outdoors with that view as our backdrop. The vegetarian courses provided to us was excellent, plentiful, and more than enough to keep us energized throughout the day. On off days we were given cooking classes by one of our instructors who is also a secret master chef. "

"The instructors were friendly, knowledgeable, and sometimes tested to help us realize our limits. I could not have asked for a better group of teachers to walk me through this journey of learning and self discovery. They all knew us by name and knew small nuances about each of us, which I think is important and a bonus for learning. The teachers can cater the classes to meet the needs of the individuals. While some of us may not instant yoga teachers after this course, we are better people after learning so much about yoga and the philosophies that we can take with us back home. "

"During this time we learned many valuable lessons about yoga and also ourselves and instantly became family to a group of like-minded individuals. You will walk away with the tools to become not just a teacher, but also tools to better approach life."

"“Amazing Yoga teacher training course with rishikul yogshala”"

"I have been to india many times visiting the holy dhams, the birth place of religion, the birthplace of yoga for thousand years. Yoga is not simply a physical exercises but it is the tool of connection of the mind and the body. It is hard to decide which yoga teacher training to go for when there are hundreds of yoga school in rishikesh or else where. After doing quite lots of research, reading, comparing the curriculums i decided to take 200 hours Yoga teacher training course with Rishikul yogshala in Pokhara, Nepal. it is not just about the Yoga alliance certificate which you will receive by the end of the course but the important is what will you learn during the course. "

"In 200 hours YTTC, the course covers Ashtanga and Hatha yoga postures. One is in the early morning and one is at night and in between you will learn Meditation, breathing exercises, yoga theory, philosophy, yoga anatomy, adjustment & alignment, yoga lifestyle. The course is designed in a way that both beginner and advanced can practice and learn at their level with all necessary modification and deeper understanding on their body structure and others which based on its they know how to adjust the body to the pose without getting injuries. After the first week I knew I made the right choice even i was not get used with the intensity schedule but with profound teachers, great lesson plans and they always make sure each of every student needs are met. what is more beautiful and peaceful you wish to have when you can do yoga and view the sunrise from the Himalaya range at Sangrakot which organized by school. "

"I have been self practicing for some years but always struggling to adjust and make the correct postures but the teachers always provide excellent and productive feedback and explained clearly how to make the correct adjustment and allignment. You never felt bored nor forced to go to class or sitting in the class just because you had paid for that. You just want to run to the next class after your first class is over. And you can also tell that their happiness is to see how you have learned and improved during the course. "

" I have learned a lot and it seems to be more clear to me of what I wanted to do in the future and have gained lots of confidence in myself and am know am ready to teach others what Hatha yoga Asana and Astanga Vinyasa are. I will definitely do another 300 hrs with Rishikul Yogshala. "

"Thank you so much for all the sharing with such love and help us to build up a strong foundation step toward a enligtened journey. Looking forward to see all of them again with my next 300 hrs course in India :))"

      "“Great experience!!”"

"I was a complete beginner with no expectations. The hatha and ashtanga where challenging for me but so much fun. The teacher was patient to find adjustments for me. I didn't now much about all the different style but I really found out that I love ashtanga. The Sanskrit names where hard sometimes, I wouldn't focus to much at the right pronoun cation but more at the poses and the explanations. Now I found that a bit distracting. I loved how the teacher really tried to challenge us all on our personal level. "

"He and as well the other teachers where so dedicated. As well the contact between teachers and students was personal as I love. I think that made a big effort to meet east and west in teaching matters, because the way the are thought must be really different. They really try to understand the western habits and the way we learn. Ofcourse this understanding should never end to keep on learning from eachother. Personally I would call philosophy different. It's an translation from Sanskrit off course which is not exactly translatable and although I found the classes very interesting did the name philosophy give me other expectations. The classes where very lively though with a lot of passion"

"I found the anatomy teacher very clear and the classes very useful for the poses and to understand the purpose of the breathing exercises. "

"Meditation was great and relaxing and she really made time for us and our feelings. Nidra yoga was very relaxing and so nice to have that in the last two weeks. Chair yoga was refreshing and very adaptable in daily office life. Mudra was something very new for me but curious to try out if it's work for me. Pranayama I loved because I am really interested in the benefits of breathing. One month is such a short time and they wanted to teach us so much I felt overloaded sometimes. I don't know if less would be better because you do process when your back. The teachers telling us that we could always write them for questions I just heartwarming. They really dedicate there time and love into it. All in their unique ways. I am very grateful for that! "

"Gurutze was great as coordinator, she really can create that bridge between east and west which is her talent. Sheeva the priest setting up all this rituals was just so special. Made me feel like I am really in Nepal. "

"Hotel tulsi was great. The owner is such a friendly guy. The rooms where decent, clean and the food was amazing. They really made sure we got enough protein. The kitchen staff was very friendly and amazingly helpful with tea and coffee. "

"Phokara is a lively little town and it was good to be in the "real world" once in a while. The trips where amazing and I love the sunrise yoga at sarangkot. "

"All was an perfect impression of what yoga is about. I will keep learning. Thank you all and to others I would definitely recommend it!"

      "“East meets West”"

"It's hard to decide which yoga teacher training to choose in Rishikesh. Here some of the points that were important for me when I choose Rishikul - and after having completed my 200 hrs I can say I made the right choice. The yoga style: The 200 yttc covers both, Hatha and Asthanga, one in the morning, the other at night. This allows students to build up the strength you need for Asthanga during the hatha lessons. Level of teaching: You can start the teachers training with little or no yoga practice before. The classes were designed in a way that both beginners and advanced practitioners could practice and learn at their level with the necessary modifications. This was also the case for the theoretical background, adjustment and pranayama. The school's equipment and set up was a good mixture of authentic Indian style with spiritual approach and modern technical equipment. "

"The program is demanding and every week I looked forward to our day off and the trips organized by the school. (rafting, cooking, dance yoga, sunrise yoga in the Himalayans ...) Atmosphere at the school: One of the first sentences was "welcome to the rishikul family!" And indeed: everybody working there did his or her best to make people feel at home and have a good stay in the place. Rishikul is located in a quiet part of the town and most of the rooms have beautiful mountain views. Although the Ganga river, shops and cafés are nearby, you won't have much time or need to eat outside, because the well composed ayurvedic meals were just delicious!"

"The teachers and coordinator are incredible people with so much love, humor, wisdom, and knowledge to share - whether in the yoga hall or out, you can't help but feel their passion and knowledge trying to seep into you. The location is wonderful - surrounded by mountains, across the street from Fewa Lake, and in a quaint hotel with a lovely staff and owner.I am incredibly thankful for the past month I've spent here. It has truly been a life changing experience that I will forever carry with me and continue. I look forward to the 300 hour course in India!"

      "“A magical month in Pokhara”"

"The teaching team is fantastic, you couldn't ask for more personality, smiles and kindness. I went there as a yoga novice looking to try something new and left being absolutely in love with Hatha and Ashtunga yoga. "

"Alongside the physical yoga lessons - which collectively equate to 3 plus hours, daily teaching also includes meditation, theory and other interesting things like chair yoga and mudras (which are a lot of fun). "

"The scenic town of Pokhara offers a lot to do on your days off - paragliding, hiking or just relaxing by the lake."

"Accomodation was reasonable and at a level you would expect in Nepal - its clean, tidy and the staff at Hotel Tulsi (where the course is held) are always willing to go above and beyond to help. As an added bonus the hotel has beautiful gardens, delicious vegetarian meals and is right by the lake."

"My group was fantastic, I've made life long friends through a love of yoga. The teachers really helped to create a positive vibe to the entire course and took the time to know the students on an individual level. "

"Overall I would recommend this to people of all ages and all experience levels. Whilst it's a group course, teachers will go out of their way to support your individual learning needs .. 11/10!"

      "“200hrs YTT Nepal”"

"Wow!! What an incredible experience I've just had completing the 200hr course in Pokhara, Nepal. The teachers are fantastic, so knowledgeable, insightful and experienced. The location is beautiful, right by lake pokhara in the Himalayas, and the 2 mornings we spent doing yoga at Sarangkot viewpoint is something I'll never forget. The course curriculum is broad and squeezing 200hrs into 28 days is very intense, but it is such a rewarding experience and our yoga group really became like a family at the end :) I was happy with the organisation of the course, the logistics etc and the food was good (if a little spicy!). I'll definitely be coming back to complete the 300hrs course with Rishikesh Yogshala! Thanks to all the teachers for making this happen."

Additionally, the ayurvedic center in the school is wonderful and massages are very affordable. It was great being able to get a massage right in the same building you were staying."

"Everything we discussed, was respected when arriving in place. They arranged a taxi from the airport and even if I lost my connection flight they made the change in such a short time. So I consider this as professionalism."

"The yoga course was taught by amazing teacher that will light my mind forever. I had the experience of my life, being for the first time in India, and for the first time travelling alone. "

"The course was intense, practical and also theoretical. Manoj (Hatha) and Pankaj (Ashtanga) did the asana practice with us. It was intense and we loved it. Deepa, the teacher for Mantra and Meditation is the light and happy soul that I love (when some of my friends recommended me this school, told me about Deepa, so I said I must go there). She made our evenings awesome, she is so playful and full of life that definitely succeeded in transmitting us the best things in life. She taught us a lot of techniques that I am using now as a teacher. Prana JI impressed me so much with its spirit from the day I arrived there."

      "“I am back!”"

"I have completed my 200 hours Yoga TTC under guidance of Rishikul Yogshala, Nepal, Pokhara, Tulsi Hotel in September 2015. Exactly a year, I am back here again in September 2016, to retraining, to give service to school, to meet up my dearest teachers, Nepal friends. It's a wonderful experience that teachers, Nepal friends, owners and staffs of Tulsi hotel were welcome me like a family members, it's feeling coming home, warm and touched. Although it's second time training at the same school, it's never get bored. Refreshing my anatomy knowledge, always good to train yoga asana in a discipline way ~ morning and evening under different teacher guidance, and of course, new knowledge, practical yoga adjustment and yoga for special needs group etc. I love to come back to this school because teachers are knowledgeable, friendly to share, to help, they are real yoga practitioners and what they deliver is YOGA not asana only. I will recommend anyone who interested to get their yoga training with this school because, their syllabus is complete coverage knowledge of yoga and all management teams cares students like family members. "“Teacher training course 200h”"

"After a couple of weeks researching the cities and schools in India and Thailand, I narrowed down Rishikesh with 3 different schools. The reason why I got Rishikul was a mix between the good reviews, the infrastructure explained in the website and also not being the most expensive neither the cheapest one. I also fitted very well the starting date of the course."

"My arrival in India was pretty bumpy with my bag being lost by the airline company. When I arrived at the school, just before registering, Deepa (one of the teachers) was at the reception and took me to buy the essential things (toiletries and few clothes). Even though she was feeling sick, it didn't stop her to help me."

"The opening ceremony (Puja) coincided with my birthday, so after the ceremony they bought me a huge cake and we celebrated it with all the students and staff. I couldn't ask for a better birthday party far from family and friends!"

"The training course was very intense with a tight schedule and lots of activities (exactly as described in the website) so for me was a big change (did yoga on and off for many years...) as I was not used to do so much body exercises. "

"Great instructors, of Hatha and Ashtanga, Pranayama, meditation gave me enough confidence to improve myself and to get more in love with this yoga life style. So much that I changed my plans and decided to stay another 2 months with them training and learning."

"I could not forget about the best yogi food ever! You will fall in love with the kitchen staff (friendly and humble) and the super yummy food they eill prepare every day!!! Definitely coming back for the 300 hours course next year!"

"After extensive research on yoga schools, the world over, I picked Riskikul Yogshala in Lakeside Pokhara, Nepal. I appreciated the fact that the course was well rounded, including not only yoga poses but the philosophy behind yoga, Buddhist theory, anatomy, and meditation. The course did not disappoint and I was challenged from the first minute until the very last. This course is intense. It will challenge you mentally, physically and spiritually so keep an open mind, take naps, adhere to a vegetarian diet, ditch the junk food and alcohol for a month and feel the changes in your body, mind and spirit. The instructors are knowledgeable, helpful and available for you throughout the course. I came in as a stranger and left feeling as part of a large family. I highly recommend for anyone who is serious about learning as much about yoga in 200 hours as possible."

Be ready for running between classes, and for less sleeping hours. saying this, I also say that you will be between lovely, understandable family members from Rishikul Yogshala. The staff there is so helpful and ready to absorb your confusion and worries specially when coming towards the end of the one month training; when you are really exhausted and worried about the exam. also you should know that the school organizing good additional activities at the off days. At Rishikul yogshala, you are not only meeting other participants at the same course but also meeting with interesting people who are coming for yoga retreats and other activities at the school or at the Ayurveda clinic at the same building. At Rishikul Yogshala, three full meals with different Indian tastes served every day. Food there is really yummy. I should also tell you that the school has very good location. You can find most of what you need for every day use so don't carry the daily use pieces. At the end I can say that being at the Rishikul Yogashala will be such an experience in your life so don't miss it."

"I completed my 200 hour training in May this year, and it was without a doubt the most rewarding experience of my life. The days were long and hard, but packed with so much - there is no way you'll leave Rishikul without feeling lighter and happier. I remember how difficult it was to choose a YTT program in Rishikesh - there's just SO many options and searching online back home is insanely overwhelming. After speaking with a friend of a friend, I decided to go with Rishikul and I am SO grateful that I did. It is one of the older (and more reputable) ashrams in the area - every time we went into town shop owners would ask where we were studying, and they would offer nods of approval when we told them."

"The teachers were INCREDIBLE. I honestly can't give them enough praise - all were so knowledgable, patient and kind. They were clearly so devoted and passionate about their respective crafts, and it was all the more inspiring to learn from and practice with such intelligent and lovely people. They were traditional yet approachable - simultaneously strict and warm, calm and challenging. I can gush for hours about how much I respect each one of them, but I'm sure you get the picture from the other reviews! Just trust that you'll be in very good hands."

"Our group quickly became a little family. I met the most amazing people from all corners of the world, some of which I know will become lifelong friends. The ashram feels like home from day one - it's super comfortable and accommodating. If you need anything, just ask! The food was also great! The days are long, and the work is mentally and physically hard, but if you push through your comfort zones you'll be rewarded with immense clarity and a bunch of new friends. Do it!"

"I did my 200hrs YTT in May this year and till now I haven't stopped talking about the experience; it has marked my life significantly. Even though I arrived a few days before the course started all the staff at the school in Rishikesh was ready and willing to help. They even offered to send a driver to pick me up at the airport; and already my adventure started. He was so nice and talkative during the way from Delhi to Rishikesh. We even offered to make some stops for dinner and chai tea, which he paid for me since I hadn't exchange my money at that point."

"Once the course started I found myself with a group of strangers that in a very short time became like my family. The level of connection between students and with the teachers is amazing, and I dare to say that is only because of the passion we always share: Yoga.It was relieving to find out that the rest all the students also shared the same fears and concerns as me, and it was also interesting and funny to hear the stories and the reasons that had lead us to the YTT in Rishikul."

"The teachers were super smart, capable and professional. I also liked the fact that they were very approachable; always willing to help regardless if it was lunch time, dinner time, relax time. They were also very attentive to us students and our health. For example, I remember once I went to reception to ask for tiger balm for my knee. Manoj, one of the teachers was close and as soon as he heard me we came to ask what was wrong and gave me some advice on how to treat my sore knee and which asanas to take a break from."

"I really felt at home at the school. Deepa, another teacher, was like mother for me (and I am sure other students felt the same). She was always there to discuss anything, even if it was a personal problem you were struggling with; she offered us that human warmth that we unconsciously seek when we are away from home. Nitin, a guy that was doing Karma yoga at the school, become like a brother for us. Very helpful and playful and a great student! "

"I don't think a simple review could do justice to the quality of the teachers we had at the school. I could write lines and lines about each of the teachers. Bipin that helped me with the preparation of my final class. Prashant that took the time to explain to us each of the asanas in the Ashtanga 1st series, Pranaji who transmits so much peace during his Pranajama lessons, the mantra teacher with who me and a group of friends had an amazing talk during relax time in front of the Ganga river, the anatomy and philosophy teachers who gave us such good insight in their subjects."

"The location of the school and the room were great and very comfortable, food was amazing and I can't wait to have another taste of it when I go back for me 300-hour yoga teacher trianing, the activities on the free days were fun and in accordance with the purpose of the course lots of nature, culture, spirituality..."

"Signing up for my YTT with Rishikul Yogshala was one of the best decisions I've ever made in my life and I am happy that till now I still keep in touch with students and teachers, with who we've formed a beautiful community were we can share questions, ideas and findings about yoga. I feel I improved not only in my asanas but also in other areas of Yoga, and most importantly the course made me a better person. I feel very comfortable and confident teaching thanks to the knowledge and experience gained at the school. I made up my mind from the very first week of the course, that when the time to do my 300hrs comes I will definitely go back to Rishikul. "

    • Review by Amy from China

"The experience at Rishikul is very great. I came to Rishikul's campus in Rishikesh for a 300 hour training after doing a 200 hour in Bali with a different school. I came in June when the weather was very hot. The Pranayama classes at Rishikul were exceptionally amazing. I very much appreciated the class structure for its inclusion of explanation, discussion (both interactive and philosophical), and practice into the same lesson. Such a structure made the material very approachable therefore allowing us to develop greater abilities and a deeper understanding than it seems would be possible in the month. Because the pranayama teacher is extraordinarily knowledgeable about the practice and because he cares deeply for both his students and the study of pranayama the classes were enthralling and supportive. "

"I also very much enjoyed our yoga philosophy classes. We had two different philosophy teachers who taught from different angles which created a nice balance in our overall gains. One of the teachers taught about yoga philosophy and its history in specifics that usually related to day-to-day practical yogic perceptions and habits. Consequently I feel more prepared not only to keep the growth I have made at Rishikul in my life now that I am back home but also to continue growing into a more compassionate and capable human being by more often making decisions that resonate with my deeper self and more mindfully accepting only habits that reflect my own values rather than just societal conditioning. He also gave space for our questions and comments which led to some nice discussions and allowed our student group to connect. The other philosophy teacher taught the Bhagavad Gita which is a very meaningful text to me that I very much love to learn especially from someone who understands and lives it in every moment. To my understanding the text will ultimately try to point out some "universal truth" or "single truth" that can only be realized within one's own experience of existence. In other words, the content is designed to bring an understanding of something that is divine and pure so therefore cannot be truly/completely translated into any human-designed system including the system of language. However, there are some traditional methods proven most fruitful in teaching the text that I feel incredibly blessed to have been able to listen to during my time at Rishikul. "

"Another highlight of the experience was the time spent with the retreat staff, especially Sushil and Nitin. Getting sick is a common experience for foreigners in India and many in my student group, including myself, became very ill during some or throughout all of our time in India. For me I really don't like when people try to save face (put aggressive focus on the reputation of a community or group they belong to) with more importance than they try to be compassionate or supportive in times when foreigners have basic needs in regards to adapting to new/different environments (I have noticed this reaction to foreigners a lot since moving to Hong Kong and saw it sometimes in India too). I very much appreciated that the staff at Rishikul will be first and foremost compassionate, caring, and so beyond helpful in our times of need. They are very special people who seem to feel incredibly natural and fulfilled in the role of caring for others. I not only appreciated such treatment in my times of need but also learned a lot as a person from this example and grew warmer as a person from this experience. We all joked that Sushil must be in multiple places at the same time due to the large amount of personal and timely help we all received when so many of us were simultaneously ill haha :p Also, Sushil taught a yoga dance class that was beautiful and awesome. If there ever were to be a yoga dance teacher training led by Sushil I would be so enthusiastic to join it."

"The yoga anatomy teacher was extremely knowledgeable and very patient with us during our lessons. Her demeanor as a teacher has a very special balance of graciousness and seriousness that worked very well with the course material and in the yoga teacher training context. I quite admire her teaching style. We had a lot of fun together and managed to learn a high volume of specific, detailed scientific content in a way that seemed relaxed. She also dressed like a princess and looked so beautiful every day. "

"Overall it was my experience that everyone working at Rishikul has a compassionate spirit and believes in what they are doing. I miss my time there very much and would love to go back if and when it is possible."

They supported a really nice team spirit. I felt like my questions were answered and when I needed help, for example with medical issues, they always helped me and did that with smile :) There were lots of opportunities for fun outside course though for me the regular classes were most fun. In Rishikesh, I see how yoga is being practiced in daily life, and you get to know where and who is best to learn what you really want -- whether hatha yoga, meditation, pranayama, asthanga--it does reflect as Yoga Capital of the world :)"

"In Rishikul Yogshala, I see even deeper how each teacher and staff radiate beautiful energy and practice living the yoga principal and values in their daily acts. I learn about disciplines and kindness in each day. Everyone in Rishikul Yogshala makes me feel like a home and a bootcamp for your body, mind, and also spiritual. I learned best that everything is possible, as I have injured my arms and knees, and this course has giving my confidence and strength back to myself and to serve people as teacher. "

"I completed my course for RYT200H in June 2016, and though I never intended to be a yoga teacher as I do this solely to my curiosity doing yoga for the past few years and my recent professional role as Life Coach. Surprisingly, there are a lot from what I learn is very useful not only for myself but also my clients. And even now I also teach Yoga Nidra for startups and kids."

"I gained a lot in Rishikul Yogshala that when I left I felt like there are still 99% of the things I was supposed to learn. It opens my horizons. So I am looking to go back there next year for another 300-hours or something else -- we'll see! "I completed my 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training at the Rishikesh location in August 2016. Unlike most people, my goal of Yoga Teacher Training was to learn more about myself rather than to become a yoga teacher. Rishikul Yogshala was a great support system and helped me learn so much about myself, and they taught me how to maintain a more positive, happy lifestyle--exactly as I had hoped. To my surprise, I even have plans to become a yoga teacher now! The program was really wonderful, and I feel ready to share my yoga knowledge with the world. "

"Below are some logistical things you may find helpful."

"Classes/Teachers: We had a full schedule and covered a variety of topics. We practiced hatha, ashtanga, mantra, yoga nidra, philosophy, pranayama, and many more. Classes began at 6:00 and ended at 19:00 (Wednesdays and Sundays were self-study days). The days were full, but there was a nice amount of time allotted for breakfast and lunch, so it wasn’t exhausting by any means. The schedule also changed throughout the month (new classes would replace some other classes), which was a nice change of pace. I was also introduced to topics I knew nothing about. I felt that the time spent in each class was well-managed and worthwhile; I think they provided a sufficient amount of time on each topic. "

"The teachers were very knowledgeable and approachable. I always felt comfortable asking them questions and I was confident that they knew the answers. They did a nice job of teaching a the basic knowledge and building up from that base by incorporating more in depth concepts--this made things much easier to understand. They covered a breadth of topics without brushing over information too quickly. This was really important for me as I was introduced to a lot of concepts I had never seen before. "

"Students: There were 34 students in my class. This was a rather large group for the school. They accepted 6 students at the last minute because they had accommodation/facility issues at a different school they signed up with, so I thought it was very kind of Rishikul to accommodate 6 unexpected students. To make up for the large class, they split us into two groups for the Ashtanga and Hatha classes. I really appreciated that they managed to coordinate this, that way all of us were able to get enough of attention from the asana teachers."

"I made great friends in this program, and I will definitely stay in touch with a lot of the people I met. It was amazing to see people connected by one common interest (yoga) develop relationships that transformed into deep connections. Rishikul helped with this a lot. The atmosphere was really welcoming and made everyone comfortable with each other. It made us all feel like we were at home."

"Food: Breakfast, lunch and dinner were provided every day (even on days off). Everything was vegetarian and there were plenty of options. The food was delicious. I had been traveling in India for 4 months prior to my course, and I was really impressed with the food. The meals were always different Indian dishes, and they lowered the spice level to accommodate to our Western stomachs. This was a huge relief since my stomach had grown rather sensitive to spice. Aside from sensitivity to spice, I don’t have any dietary requirements. However, there were a couple of people in my group who were vegan, lactose intolerant, and/or gluten free. All of their needs were satisfied, and everyone was able to eat. Yahoo!"

"Accommodation: The accommodation was fairly standard. I opted for a private room, but you can share a room at a lower rate. I was provided bed sheets and pillowcases. Each room had a private bathroom with hot water, Western style toilets and shower heads--huge bonuses since many hotels have Indian style toilets and showers and do not have hot water. I also had a balcony with a BEAUTIFUL view of the mountains that made waking up early a piece of cake."

"I definitely recommend the program for those of you who are in search of a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training. I’ve even decided to stay at the school for another month so I can deepen my practice with Rishikul Yogshala. It’s been a great experience for me so far!"

"When my aunt assigned me the responsibility of organizing a yoga retreat for 28 women I knew I needed to get lucky - having to choose the right one from tens of yoga centers across India. One of the first programs to get in touch with me was Rishikul Yogshala. From the very first email I thought to myself: 'this is too good to be true'. Manmohan was the person who organized the program, his patience, professionalism and humbleness came across in every email or call. The trip was amazing. Beyond expectations. Every member of the staff at Rishikul constantly made sure all 28 women were safe, happy and had whatever they required. Food was fantastic and the group absolutely fell in love with the teachers. Now I am doing my 200 hour yoga teacher training course with Rishikul and it feels like I was destined to find this wonderful place."

"I hesitated a lot before going to a well-known school in Rishikesh, fearing to be trapped in a yoga industry for superficial westerners. Reality was different. I was amazed by the profoundness of the teachings, by the ever-lasting enthusiasm of the teachers and by their deep personal experience in ashrams. At several occasions, I asked for their opinion about spiritual issues, and they provided wise answers to meditate. I sometimes struggle on my spiritual path, but I have to admit that some teachers put a new light on it. Thank you."

"I attended 200 hour yoga teacher training in March and highly recommend this place for taking up the course in Rishikesh. The teachers, the place, the atmosphere, everything is in perfect sync with the whole feel required to practice yoga and meditate. All the teachers have solid experience of teaching and are welcoming. They all are masters in their subjects. Gangesh is amazing in Philosophy and Pranyama whereas I learnt the deep level of Ashtanga and Hatha under Bipin. The classes take place in the airy yoga hall and on pleasant days, they also shift on the terrace. The experience of practicing yoga in the delightful and bountiful nature is what i love about the whole experience. In addition to teaching, in Rishikul Yogshala, you will get delicious and nutritious food along with the helpful staff. Thank You Rishikul!"

"I completed my 300 hours at Rishikul Yogshala. Situated away from the noise of the main street, the centre is aptly located in the interior of the town. The location is neat and clean with its own small garden and a nice mountain view from the balcony. From the beginning, the fire ceremony, the lunch and the introduction, everything was well organized and touched my heart. I felt all my group members were friendly and i enjoyed my stay with them. The hatha yoga class in the morning followed by Pranayama class was my favorite part of learning. Prashant is an excellent teacher and a trainer. He knows, when to be a friend and when to be a teacher. I also liked the classes and Vipin, Gangesha and Swami Atam. They have lot to share and to teach others about yoga and life."

"I stayed at the Yogshala for almost a month and loved the experience to the core. Each and every aspect of the training turned out to be fruitful for me. The teachers, Yogi Bipin, Yogi Prashant, Swami Gangesha, Yogi Vivek, they all excel in their fields and have the required knowledge to successfully conduct the course. The staff was courteous and listened to all our feedback and made changes that were best for our group. The days were hectic and demanded full dedication whereas the two offs in the week were welcomed, as we would get enough time for our personal work. Food was great, being an Indian i have no complaints. Rishikesh in itself is a beauty and mesmerizes the viewer. Simple yet extraordinary, the fun lies in its contradictions. I obvious choice for my 500 hour yttc too, rishikul yogshala rocks."

"It was for sure an incredible journey to have had the course with Rishikul Yogshala, I've learnt for life! I'm confident to say it as I've been practicing at home ever since I concluded the course and honestly I've never felt so natural and inspired during my own practice.!! I can easily incorporate the teaching guidance, the flow, the pace, the minor details on explaining the asanas, the relaxation and even pranayama. I was amazed to feel so comfortable in teaching myself and others after such a quick course but for sure a strong, traditional, grounded, reliable and unforgiven training. I could only classify it as 'WONDERFUL' ..!!Specially being in Pohkara, Nepal - a magical destination! Thank you very much Swami Atma, Vipin Baloni, Prashant and all the wonderful teachers for lighting my spark to be an amazing , connected , grounded and inspiring teacher. For sure I'll keep my first gurus in my best memories!"

"It was certainly a very memorable teacher training. I was happy because we had only 13 students, which made us closer to each other. Also it was a good number, not too crowded when you practice. The area in Varkala Beach was very nice! We had yoga practice everyday in the open area. Where you can feel the breeze and hear the ocean waves! I admired the teachers' dedication to teach yoga. I can feel that they genuinely love yoga. Their teachers are their best assets. We had some problems during the TTC, but they always addressed the issues and tried hard to fix the problems. Of course it also depends on you, you gotta have the willingness to do self practice and self studying. I would say, if they can dedicate one person only to do administration and communication with students, it would be better (like replying to emails, provide us with receipt, etc). Bottom line... This YTT experience change my view of yoga. It has changed me to be a better person. It gives me strong foundation to go deeper with yoga."

I've done with a small team of students what was a great thing because we had full of attention from the teachers. They also are very opened to improve themselves, receive feed back and adapt the course. They bring also new courses that are not in the reschedule of the main curse and this could worth even more the course (they brought a invited teacher to give us a emotional anatomy course). I'm really happy to have done this course with them and with no doubt I can recommend this place for everyone. Accommodation and food was amazing...I really enjoyed all!"

"This spring I completed my 200 TTC at Rishikul Yogshala and I couldn't speak more highly of my experience. The city of Rishikesh is historically 'the place' to learn the true and undiluted form of yoga and geographically more beautiful than you can imagine. It's historical roots in yoga and continued traditions today offers you an atmosphere and experience unmatched to anywhere in the world. This community of yogis is partly attributed to the number of yoga schools in the area which makes it difficult in choosing a program that maintains an authentic curriculum and secures the best teachers. I can tell you I did a lot of research before choosing this school and talked to a lot of other students while studying in the area and this is one of the best schools in Rishikesh! I was a beginner to yoga but this did not matter at my school. I was blessed with a small class size of 5 students, which allowed plenty of one-on-one attention and our group to form an intimate family-like connection. We also formed a very tight connection with our teachers. My teachers were incredible people, some of the most compassionate, professional and knowledgable teachers in yoga. Good teachers are really the pillar to a great experience. I am still in touch with them today via the internet and will no doubt choose them when I return to complete my 300 hours because of their knowledge and our relationship. However, this connection was not uncommon, all my peers developed similar and lasting personal relationships with our teachers. Finally, the food was both nutritious and delicious, exceeding my expectations and the included day trips were awesome. If you are thinking of starting or continuing your journey in yoga you have stumbled upon . Take my advise your search is over, make the choice to have a life changing experience and enrol with Rishikul Yogshala today!"

"I recently did the 200h TTC at this amazing school and I could not be happier with the experience! The teachers and staff are all great and work their hardest to give you the best possible stay. The teachers are experienced and really live the way they teach, which makes it so much more authentic. Sometimes Rishikesh can feel like a yoga factory, but these guys really made me feel that they were more concerned about my learning than the money I payed. They focus on the true core of yoga as a spiritual practice, rather than just the physical aspect of it, and try their best to give you the whole picture in just a short month (prepare yourself for some intense days!). I felt that the curriculum was well-planned and I learned so much in this short time. Probably the most well spent money in my life! The stay is great in the beautiful ashram Ved Niketan, with simple nice rooms and great yogic food served thrice daily. The energy is so calm and peaceful which really helps to deepen the whole experience. I hope to be able to return one day and keep learning from all of you amazing people who helped me set off on this new journey of mine. Thank you and see you soon!"

"I just completed 200 hours TTC @Rishikul Yogshala in Rishikesh. This course was an outstanding experience and it exceeded all of my expectations. Rishikul Yogshala is located in Ved Niketan Ashram, which is one of the oldest Ashrams in Rishikesh, besides the Ganga river. It is beautiful, with big green outdoor environment and a lot of flowers. A very peaceful place with a strong energy. I do not have enough words to explain how grateful i am to have joined Rishikul for the TTC. The curriculum was so well designed, the teachers are so professional, dedicated and full of passion, BEAUTIFUL MINDS. I would have never imagined myself waking up at 5 am and being so enthusiastic to go to class, but it was a pure pleasure listening to each of them. They are the example of what they teach and i didn't learn only from all the wisdom shared, but also from the way they stand or sit , the way they talk, the way they listen and observe everything. They are just excellent. In Rishikul Yogshala, Yoga is not taught only as a physical exercise, but as that which takes you to a higher perception of life. The knowledge i gained in just 28 days it changed my views in different things. It was the beginning of a beautiful journey... The accommodation was really good, the food so yummy, everybody so nice, so helpful, willing to do everything to fulfil any requirement we had. Highly recommended. Thank you for guiding me into this beautiful lifestyle, Rishikul Yogshala! Namaste!"

They have have gone above and beyond to ensure this course is well worth your while: food to cater to very specific diets (varied and very delicious!), mini field trips that were the highlight of the course and always making sure to be available to you. My training was in Lakeside Pokhara, Nepal. It's setup in a hotel and it worked surprisingly well: central location, great facilities and amazing staff. Be prepared for long days but, if you keep an open mind, Rishikul's YTT is bound to change you."

I joined in Pokhara, Nepal - The country is safe and the Nepalis have hearts of love and joy and will do anything to make you smile and feel good. As everything else - make up you mind about expectations before signing up. Joining a YTTC in Pokhara, Nepal, is an experience including noises from the city of Pokhara + the beautiful view of the Lake and the magnificent Himalaya Mountains. The hotel is not an ashram neither a 5 star western hotel - but rooms are more than fine, food is more than good and staff the most helpful people ever. If you can live with that and want to learn yoga from great yoga teachers - don't hesitate to sign up and let a new part of your yoga journey begin."

"The teachers are incredible and share their wisdom generously and with compassion. The venue (Nepal Sept 2015) is comfortable enough and staffed by warm, welcoming people who will do anything within their power to make you feel at home (like, literally tore down a wall for me -- long story, but seriously--untold hospitality). If you are looking for a Western YTT experience, you may want to stay in the West. Yes--the cushions are old and lumpy, the wifi is spotty, you may be awoken by the sounds of construction (i.e. "development") on your rare day off, grow tired of the rotating menu, or find yourself frustrated with ways of being or perceiving that seem unfamiliar...but aren't you here for the yoga? If you embrace the quirks and surprises of international travel, the challenges that come with intercultural exchange, and the growing pains of an expanding comfort zone, the rewards will not disappoint. If yoga is expansion, the last month has been a magnificent explosion. I am eternally grateful to all of the amazing people who helped shape my journey. Nepal is safe and breathtaking in form and spirit. Pokhara was not affected by the earthquake, and things seemed to be returning to normal in Kathmandu. The economy, and thus the recovery, depends heavily on tourism--come support this beautiful place and its beautiful people!"

And after ashtanga the day finishes with meditation at 18:00. So a very intense day covering all kind of yoga aspects to give you a better understanding of yoga. Teachers are outstanding, extremely professional and enthusiastic, you can't get enough of their wisdom. " A fantastic course with wonderful teachers and a mix of students from all over the globe (in the 200hr YTT course I did). In this course you receive teachings in many areas of Yoga - Asanas, Pranayama, Philosophy, Meditation, adjustment and alignment of postures, teacher methodology, Mudras, a little Mantra and even chair Yoga! (for people less mobile). I loved everything about this course and I am still feeling the ripple effect of the philosophical teachings in my life. I highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn Yoga teaching in India. India is the birth place of Yoga and the teachers at this school are world class. This school is managing to bridge the gap between the traditional Yogic mind and manner and the Western world, in a way which honours tradition, gives deep insight and amazing practical teachings whilst maintaining the wonderful Indian charm, but also allows a western student to go home with all the tools as a teacher for a western market and much much more! I could not have asked for a better Yoga teacher course as this nurtures and inspires body, mind and soul. One day I hope to return to do their 300 YTT smile emoticon. Thank you to a wonderful team and students, who are now part of my Yogic family."

If you want to understand what Yoga and yogic science really are will you be very happy. 200 hour are a good starting point, 300 hours will give you more time to deepen the subjects. Students will understand the differences between Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga and train both traditions with highly professional teachers. In anatomy classes and teaching methodology you will learn the importance of body knowledge in your future asana classes and how to build teaching sequences in a healthy and secure way for your students. Pranayama and meditation classes will give you personal insights about your self, body and mind and show you how to integrate it into future yoga classes. You learn useful mudras and the significance of chanting mantras. Philosophy classes will frame all aspects you learn into the big picture of yogic science. Food and housing in Pokhara/ Nepal are very nice. The part of town, called Lakeside, is surrounded by Phewa lake and the beautiful annapurna mountain range. "

      "Changed my life!"

      ""

"Ahhh, where to start.... After some crazy/ tough life upheavals last year, I finally decided to follow a long time dream of visiting India and attending a yoga retreat. Naturally I inquired with many in the planning phase of my trip, but no company came back to me as promptly and with as much helpful information as Rishikul Yogshala. I was in contact with Manmohan from the start via email and he was just as lovely in person when myself and 2 friends eventually got to the retreat. From the moment we arrived at the Pyramid Cafe and guest house, I knew this was going to me an amazing experience and I was not wrong. The friendly, high energy, but low stress vibe of Rishikesh itself and everyone at the retreat venue carried through the entire 7 days. For me the retreat was very much a personal journey, I wanted to really ingrain myself in the eastern practices and learn as much as I could and the retreat offered this level and depth of experience, but equally, for those on the retreat who wanted a more casual approach to yoga and meditation, they were able to have their needs met also. Everyone took what they needed from the week, and there was no pressure to be or do anything you didn't want to, but the opportunities were there for you to delve deeper into the amazing world of Yoga and all it entails. I leart a lot simply chatting to the teachers (who were all amazing) and picking their brains as they also sat casually with us at the very relaxing, very delicious Pyramid Cafe."

"The accommodation clean, warm (ovbs) with fans and your own wet room including shower, basin and proper flushing toilet - I took a mosquito net (but didn't really need it if I/m honest). "

"As well as opportunities to practice yoga on the beach, up in the Himalayas and in cave of one of the famous Yogis in the area, the Rishikul Yogshala Retreat included at least 2 yoga classes per day and we were taught meditation, yoga philosophy and Ayurveda principles... enough to ignite the spark I was already carrying for my own Teacher Training and I definitely intend to come back to the School run by Rishikul in November to complete this qualification. At the end of the retreat, I really didn't want to leave! I felt I had found my spiritual home. The people, the place and of course the Practice itself were all amazing and I can't recommend these guys highly enough. Whatever you choose to do with Rishikul Yogshala you will not be disappointed..."

"I very much enjoyed my one week yoga retreat with Rishikul Yogashala. Our two main yoga teachers were very knowledgeable and I learned a lot from both of them. I enjoyed the additional activities such as the trip to the cave, yoga by the edge of the Ganges River and the early morning trip up into the mountains to watch the sun rise over the Himalayas. We stayed at the lovely Pyramid Guesthouse which is very quiet and peaceful as it is located a bit up a hill side away from the frenetic and loud main road. The food was great! The various people involved with Rishikul Yogashala took very good care of me. I highly recommend Rishikul Yogashala for anyone who wants an enjoyable week of yoga, good food, and a relaxing yet busy week in Rishikesh."

"I attended the April 2016 200hr Yoga Teacher Training Course at Rishikul Yogshala in Rishikesh and the experience was amazing. Choosing Rishikesh, India the yoga capital of the world was by far the best decision I have made in terms of my yogic path. The school has wonderful teachers in all areas including Ashtanga, Hatha, Meditation and Pranayama. They want to teach and they love to share but they also are great listeners. During my stay I was lucky enough to have a great group of peers from all over the world. The environment at Rishkul is great and their is a lot to do when you aren't practicing yoga, like chilling near the Ganga, going to see the Neer waterfalls or even having some ice lemon tea at one of the many cafes in Laxmhan Jhula. Rishikul yogshala provides a great atmosphere, a demanding and challenging course and with an open mind you can learn and discover many things about yourself during your time here."

"I completed my yoga teacher training in Rishikesh in February 2016. What an incredible experience! All of the teachers at the school are amazing- they constantly inspired us with their passion and dedication, and they worked together as a team so well. They are also definitely some of the most respected yoga teachers in Rishikesh. The course was well laid out, with a lot of asana practice (both ashtanga and hatha), but also many pranayama, mantra, meditation and philosophy classes. The food was delicious, and the accommodation was great. Also, we only had 12 people in our class, so we got a lot of assistance from the teachers. If you would like to train as a teacher, or just deepen your own practice, then I would definitely recommend doing it through Rishikul. It has changed not only my practice, but my whole world view. Can't wait to keep learning and growing!"

"The experience at Rishikul is one that I certainly wouldn't change, but not because it was seamless and easy. The course itself is broken into multiple classes: morning hatha, pranayama, yoga anatomy, yoga philosophy, ashtanga, and meditation. This holistic approach to teaching yoga is what drew me to taking a certification in India in the first place, and the teachers are definitely up for the challenge of cramming SO much information into a 28 day course. You will learn a lot."

I was there in March and the weather was just started to really heat up and the class was in a tent (something happened with the other facility and I think we were moved here sort of at the last minute). In the afternoon it was a bit of a sauna. The teachers, however, are all very excellent and know their stuff. Go to learn, and embrace the discomfort."

"I did my yoga teacher training with Rishikul Yogshala in September 2013, when the course was being offered in Pokhara, Nepal. Right from the beginning of the course, from the very first day, it was obvious that the structure of the course and the instructors were first rate. Really first rate, and I can say that because that is how it felt. The asana teacher, Vipin, was inspirational, and his instruction was given with care and warmth, and humour and seemed to know how to challenge the body without being injured. Even now, 2years after completing this course, I still hear Vipin correcting my postures. The theory and pranayama teacher, Gangesha, was enthusiastic and funny and made the yoga theory interesting and encouraging to practice, which I continue to do on a regular basis.2 years after completing the course. Yoga teacher training from Rishikul Yogshala is an excellent school to get the foundational instruction to begin a healthy balance practice of yoga for the rest of your life."

"Pokhara is stunning and it's situated right in the heart of Nepal, surrounded by Himalayas. Tulsi Hotel is great, very central and all staff is friendly and super accommodating. The course itself is one of the beast treats I could ever given to myself, for sure. Vast variety of subjects from Hatha and Ashtanga through all sorts of pranayamas, kriyas, alignment, therapy, anatomy, mantra classes ending every school day on a wonderful meditation. I've learned heaps from the best teachers on earth. They are all very different but all equally inspiring. I can definitely recommend it to everyone, no matter what path of their life they're on. Thank you Rishikul!!!!"

"Attending Rishikul Yogshala was one of the most enriching experiences I have ever had. I would highly recommend this program for anyone seeking personal growth and a strong foundation of knowledge in all branches of yoga. I cannot say enough great things about the teachers at Rishikul. They will teach you much more than the physical aspect of yoga. I attended the September 2015 program in Nepal and loved it. I felt very safe in the town of lakeside and Hotel Tulsi staff were stellar. Please understand the implications of traveling to a non-westernized country. The food, culture, surroundings, and beliefs are different. Don't join the program expecting a western experience, you will not get that, which is the beauty of it all.Attending Rishikul was one of the best decisions I have ever made."

"I joined in Pokhara, Nepal - The country is safe and the Nepal is have hearts of love and joy and will do anything to make you smile and feel good.As everything else - make up your mind about expectations before signing up. If you can live with that and want to learn yoga from great yoga teachers - don't hesitate to sign up and let a new part of your yoga journey begin!"

If you embrace the quirks and surprises of international travel, the challenges that come with intercultural exchange, and the growing pains of an expanding comfort zone, the rewards will not disappoint. If yoga is expansion, the last month has been a magnificent explosion. I am eternally grateful to all of the amazing people who helped shape my journey.Nepal is safe and breathtaking in form and spirit. Pokhara was not affected by the earthquake, and things seemed to be returning to normal in Kathmandu. The economy, and thus the recovery, depends heavily on tourism--come support this beautiful place and its beautiful people!"

I have spoken to others who had completed their 200 hour in the same town of Rishikesh, and found that their schools did not cover the subjects in the same detail, pranayama being a stand out class and the dedication of the teachers at Rishikul second to none. I recommend this school on a regular basis whenever anyone tells me they want to do a teacher training in India. Good luck! Namaste!"

In addition to teaching, in Rishikul Yogshala, you will get delicious and nutritious food along with the helpful staff.Thank You Rishikul!"

But all my worries flew away as all the teachers were so helpful that they helped me to cope with the missed out information. Furthermore, the group of students were very welcoming and entertaining at the same time. The view from my private room and the food prepared by the chefs was mouth-watering. Not spicy at all. We were brought to many small trips around the city with a guide. The classes flow into each other without any difficulty and everything has been paced out after close consideration. "A great school to opt for, I came back here after my second experience with the school as last year I had visited the school for a retreat. The fine service and the perfectly disciplined staff is the reason for the glitch free show we get. I am in love with the entire setup and the way things work here. Starting early in the morning, the hatha yoga then moving to pranayama and breakfast and finally moving further to breakfast then by theory classes. The whole schedule has been created by keeping in mind the food intervals, the resting part and working. The light morning practice with prashant, the heavy intensive Ashtanga classes with Bipin and the theory classes with Gangesha and Vivek, if I have to compare, I swear I would be confused. All the teachers and even the staff Manmohan and others are equally good and flawless with their job. For my 500 hour YTTC I would be delighted to visit the place again."

"The night of the closing ceremony in Varkala I couldn't find the words to describe how I experienced the month of teacher training. I needed some time to process, in fact every day I'm still doing so. The TTC was for me the start of a different way of life, a new consciousness, continuing on a path of change I started a couple of years ago and now can follow with more faith, courage, inspiration and dedication. It is extremely hard to teach a group of foreigners from different backgrounds and with different levels of experience about the true meaning of yoga in only one month. In the West yoga is considered as a mainly physical exercise but I didn't count myself among the people who do it only for this purpose. However, during the training and the weeks after, I realized my focus had been too much on the asanas and needed to shift to the other branches of yoga also. The first day I said yoga for me personally is also about UNLEARNING. Unlearning to be competitive, to compare, to want to be the best, to always aim for more, better and faster. During the training I was definitely confronted with this side of myself and consciously tried to let it go.I think the curriculum created a good balance between the physical and mental practices. The asana classes were superb, with two teachers very different and unique, both transmitting their message in their own personal way. Both Vipin and Prashant were such an inspiration and taught us so much more than only asanas. I still hear their voices giving me guidance and encouragement whenever I am practicing. We were very lucky to have so many great teachers for such a small group. Everybody was always available for questions, doubts, an interesting talk or even just a fun afternoon amongst friends. Kerala is beautiful and it was the right place to combine the yoga with ayurveda classes. No need to say Dr Saneesh did a wonderful job. It would have been nice to get some more practical knowledge on basic ayurvedic diagnose and treatment. How to tell someone's constitution, simple herbal remedies, oil preparations or other ways to cure the most common diseases. The massage workshops and the cooking class were great. For me personally Varkala Beach and the Dreams hotel weren't exactly what I imagined for a TTC. After all you're not there for a holiday, you're there to learn, right? Of course this is only my opinion, I would prefer a place that allows more focus, maybe Rishikesh would be better for me.I would have liked to have more mantra classes, from day one. Now even at the end many students didn't know the mantras while this is an important part of yoga and something you wouldn't easily start practicing on your own. I absolutely loved Gangesh' philosophy classes, I was sad to not have had more time with him. We were blessed to have Swami there with us, his presence, his classes, his stories, his energy, his smile, his kindness, ... Amazing. The anatomy classes were very interesting. Vivek has a very particular way of teaching which I adored. It would be nice to receive the powerpoint presentations he used - I asked for them but maybe he forgot - and also the powerpoint presentations for the other classes. The food was delicious, I didn't realize until later how very lucky we were to receive such good meals with such variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. For me, one month was way to short! It took me quite a while to get over many personal blockages and by the time I felt I was really making process the end was almost near... So I left dreaming of doing the next course and continue learning. I traveled in Kerala for five days but was missing the yogi life too much, after having learned so much in one month I felt like just backpacking was so pointless! So I spent my last three weeks in India in an ashram, continuing the path that Rishikul had started guiding me on. It was an amazing experience. There was a lot of chanting, a lot of meditation, selfless service, compulsory classes. It made me realize our TTC was very 'free'. People were often missing in classes, there were not many rules nor homework or a kind of final exam. Of course you can't expect students to follow all too much restrictions during a TTC outside an ashram. But it made me think maybe we were too spoiled! The last day of the TTC we were asking Vipin and Prashant for personal feedback, but apparently it's not the custom to give each student individual feedback after the training. I still think that would have been very helpful. In the end Vipin did tell me we lacked devotion but I didn't understand what he meant until I spent some time in the ashram... I needed these extra weeks to understand that it's not just about the asanas... It made me realize I was trying too hard to get into the final position, forgetting about other more important things. In the end the most important thing I have to say is thank you. A genuine thank you from the bottom of my heart. The TTC was only the start, this one month the beginning of a more conscious, more balanced, happier and healthier way of living, through yoga. I truly hope to continue learning, to continue growing in my practice and to be able to transmit and share this all with others. I often felt so small and humble, and that the only thing I know is that I know nothing... There is still so much to learn and I know you all have still so much to teach, so I also hope this one month will not be the end of my journey with Rishikul."

"I was fortunate enough to attend the Rishikul Yogshala 200 hour TTC in Pokhara Nepal in April 2014, which I found on BookYogaRetreats.com. This course seemed perfect for me when I was searching on BookYogaRetreats - it was almost as if it found me rather than the other way round. It was indeed an experience of a life time, which changed the way I perceived yoga, myself, and others around me. The best thing about the whole experience was the great wisdom, knowledge and skills of the teachers from Rishikesh, the yoga capital of the world. Whether it was the Hatha and Ashtanga classes, Pranayama, Philosophy, Yoga Nidra, or Meditation the young but well trained teachers were experts in imparting knowledge and techniques, guiding the students, providing inspiration and always keeping them engaged. The course was taught in the traditional yogic way, but with a modern and dynamic outlook well suited to a varied group of international students. The sheer volume of information and practicals kept the days packed and busy. The living environment was simple and clean, and the food was vegetarian and suited to yogic values. I came back with a new outlook on life, equipped with good tools to better my yoga practice, yet knowing that I still had lots more to learn.BookYogaRetreats helped me through the registration and payment process, keeping an eye on things and following through even after I was at the course. This is a great service, and I am really glad I went through this website. Truly impressed. I went to this yoga retreat in April-May 2014."

We not only practiced yoga, we lived yoga and experienced the authentic yogic lifestyle. Blessed to have connected and resonated with such beautiful souls on this trip and I was also able to connect and look within myself. It was an extremely humbling and rewarding experience.
