Rishikesh Yog Dham undertakes a strict disciplined training so you will develop the correct knowledge about genuine yogic practice. You will learn to become an informational yoga teacher as you inspire your students to adopt a life of simplicity, integrity, and generosity that will open out a path for them leading to personal awakening.
As a teacher, the course will give you insights about how to find within you the ability to be a good teacher. Besides asana, pranayama, meditation, and mantra chanting, there will be learning that includes kriyas, Bhakti yoga and self-development.
While the courses are suited for all, the seats are very limited as the focus and emphasis is laid more on the quality of teaching and learning process, nurturing you during your personal yoga practise and help transform your skills and confidence as yoga teachers
The school’s curriculum follows the Yoga Alliance guidelines and is a Registered School (RYS) with Yoga Alliance, USA. Upon completion of the program students will receive a Certificate of Completion and can apply for registration with Yoga Alliance as a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200-hour level (RYT 200)
The teacher training program meets the minimum standards described by Yoga Alliance to become a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) at the 200-hour level. A certificate of completion is awarded upon satisfactory completion of all contact and non-contact hours.
Techniques Training and Practice (T) Consists of learning Asana, Pranayama, Chanting, Mantra, Meditation, Kriyas, Mudras and Bandhas and learning how to teach & practice traditional yoga techniques
Upon completion of the course, you will be able to perform the below mentioned Pranayam, bandhas, mudras, guide, teach and describe its benefits and contra-indications
• Kapala-bhati (frontal brain cleansing)
• Nadi-sodhanam (psychic network purification)
• Bhastrika (bellows breath)
• Ujjayi (the psychic breath)
• Sheetatli (cooling breath)
• Sheetkari (hissing breath)
• Bhramari (humming bee breath)
• Surya-bheda (vitality stimulating breath)
Upon completion of the program the student will be able to engage in a seated meditation practice, describe the benefits, learn the meaning of the following mantras and its role in meditation.
• Ganesh mantra

• Aum mantra
Upon completion of the course you will be able to perform the following asanas. You will be able to describe how to enter and exit the posture; the benefits, contraindications, proper alignment, guide other students into the asana by giving proper instructions and perform hands-on adjustments. The asanas mentioned below are just a glimpse and not the entire list that will be taught and practised during the course.
• Meditative postures: sukhasana, sidhasana, padamasana, vajrasana
• Dynamic postures: pawanmuktasana series, marjariasana, vyaghrasana, surya namaskar, chandra namaskar

Teaching Methodology (TM) Consists of the principles of demonstration, observation, assisting, correcting, instruction, teaching styles, qualities of a teacher, time management, group dynamics, the student’s process of learning and business aspects of teaching yoga.
Upon completion of the program the student will be able to properly sequence, construct, and instruct a safe class, assist other teachers and give proper feedback to students. You will cover the following:

Anatomy and Physiology (A&P) Consists of human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.) and includes energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.). It includes both the study of the subject and application of its principles to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc.).
You will learn anatomy and physiology relevant to yoga in order to strengthen the classroom explanations, cues, and corrections of asanas. The class will cover digestives system, skeletal system, respiratory system, cardiovascular system, muscular system, anatomical names of the body, planes of the body, major joints of the body, anatomical terms of movements, yoga asana alignment based on applied anatomy. Upon completion, you will be able to identify the muscles and bones of the body along with joint movements in asana poses, learn and understand the energy systems of the body, the primary system of the human body and its relevance with Yoga and will also acquire knowledge of basic concepts of Ayurveda and nutrition
Yoga Philosophy/Lifestyle and Ethics for Yoga Teachers (PLE) Consists of the study of yoga philosophies and traditional texts, yogic lifestyle, and ethics for yoga teachers. It also includes Understanding the value of teaching yoga as a service and being of service to others. Students are encouraged to put into practise the the above learnings into their practise in class and explore the application of the same in their own personal lives
This class will focus on introducing you to the basic philosophy, concepts, and history of yoga. It will cover the various traditional philosophies and viewpoints, insights from modern research, and ways in which the essence of this holistic life-view can be integrated into a modern lifestyle. Upon completion, you will be able to identify the basic limbs of yoga and other classic texts of yoga mentioned below
• Patanjali’s eight limbs of yoga
• Hatha yoga pradipika
• Bhagwat Gita philosophy
• Yoga sutras of Patanjali
• Panch koshas
• Mudras and chakras
Practicum (PR) consists of practice teaching as a lead instructor, receiving feedback, observing others teaching and hearing/giving feedback and assisting other students as assistant teachers
There will be weekly excursions with Rishikesh Yog Dham that includes activities such as river rafting, temple treks, trekking, Ganga Aarti, river meditation, heritage visits to Beatle ashram, trips to beautiful waterfalls, and beach outings.
Arvind Sharma - Lead Instructor
Yoga Alliance E-RYT 500 (Yoga)
Arvind is the lead Instructor at the leading yoga teacher training school in Rishikesh, the world capital of yoga. He is an E-RYT 500 and has an experience of teaching yoga since 2009. He has been teaching for his own school since its inception in 2013 and has hosted multiple yoga teacher training courses all year round. Having taught in China, Russia, and India, Arvind has gained a lot of experience in the field of yoga.
Ajay Dhasmana - Main Teacher (Anatomy)
Ajay ji has been sharing his yoga anatomy (Sarir Vigyan) knowledge at Rishikesh Yoga Dham. Being a good yoga anatomy teacher, he also helps his students improve their lifestyle and inspires them to live a yogic life. Ajay has a Master degree in human biology, yogic treatment, and physiology. He is a simple-hearted but unique teacher who is appreciated for his genius mind, straightforward attitude, and joyous face with positive energy.
Vikal Sajwan graduated from Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in the Uttarakhand province of India, getting good marks in subjects like history, political science and sociology. He has been teaching meditation in Rishikesh for the last three years. Vikal also taught meditation in Delhi, India, and has a diploma in Hotel Management where he learned about yogic food, nutrition and a balanced diet. He has a six-month diploma in yogic science from Dev Sanskriti University in Uttarakhand and also an 18-month diploma in yoga naturopathy from Bhopal University, Madhya Pradesh, India.
Manoj is a traditional Indian Hatha yoga teacher. Manoj began his study of yoga at the age of 15 in the holy city of Rishikesh, India, and began teaching yoga at age 19. Manoj is a very systematic yoga teacher teaching morning asana, pranayama, and Shatkarma classes at Rishikesh Yoga Dham.
Mahesh Ji did his masters in Yogic Science (Gold Medalist) and Philosophy at Uttarakhand Sanskrit University. He has attended many national and international seminars related to yoga therapy, yogic science and philosophy. Mahesh Ji works as a teacher of yoga therapy, acupressure therapy, prana healing therapy, and marma therapy.

Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga, is located on the foothills of the Himalayas. It is famously known as the “world capital of yoga”. Snuggled by the Himalayas, it’s famously seen as the gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas amongst the locals. One of the holiest places of India, Rishikesh is a famous pilgrim town for Indians.
The most beautiful attraction that makes Rishikesh well known to the Western world besides yoga is the tranquil sacred river Ganga. Ganga beach is just five minutes away from the ashram. Famous points of Rishikesh are the Laxman Jhula, Ram Jhula, the Beatles Ashram, and some famous cafes around the Ganga River, making it one of the most sought after destinations for people of all age groups.
You will be serve three meals daily. All meals served in Rishikesh Yog Dham is very basic Indian sattvic food. The meals are Indian and vegetarian food only. Vegan and gluten-free is served on need basis. You will also be provided with delicious local grown farm vegetables and fruits.

The closest railway station is Haridwar. It’s around one hour from Rishikesh by road. It takes about six hours to get to Haridwar from Delhi.
You can hire a cab from Delhi or Dehradun. Prior booking is recommended for cab service.
