Certifications

After graduation, students will receive an internationally recognized certificate acknowledging their completion of the program. This certificate allows you to teach yoga and may grant eligibility for advanced training opportunities.

How the training works

There are 270 contact hours and 30 non-contact hours. You will participate in 12 weeks via Zoom, Facebook (private group), and YouTube. Each week, videos will be viewable for the duration of the seven days as a stand-alone module. Journaling, writing, creating, discussion, etc. will be required on a 4:00 p.m. EST deadline each week before hours are granted for certification.

Timing of sessions / daily schedule (GMT-4)

From Monday to Friday every week, there will be two hours live and videos are available for later viewing.

Course information

Curriculum

The content of the training falls into five categories of study:

1. Technique, training, and practice

Styles are founded in Ashtanga and Vinyasa with an intention to introduce complementary styles like Yin, Restorative, and meditation practices. These hours are spent practicing yoga, asana, pranayama, mudra, mantra, and more.

2. Anatomy and physiology

Expect to study the human body on a physical, mental, and spiritual level. From the anatomical systems of the body to maps of prana running along with your nervous system and the mind or brain connection, topics here are currently relevant and always evolving as Western and Eastern sciences start to work more closely side by side.

3. Teaching methodology

In the name yoga teacher training, this is where you break down safety, lesson planning, business, marketing, client relations, standards of practice, and much, much more. You will leave the Rise + Vibe training with resources and knowledge moving into the modern yoga world.

4. Philosophy and lifestyle

The history of yoga is rich and deep. While it is still much you do not know, what you do know is incredibly valuable and important to be successful teachers of yoga. These hours are spent discussing the Yama and Niyama, historical context, classical texts or philosophies, cultural appropriation, and meaningful mindsets.

5. Rise + Vibe

Every yogi comes to this yoga teacher training for a different reason. This part of your training is personal and unique, time spent journaling and preparing for your graduation. Why are you here? Both in yoga teacher training and the world? How is yoga relevant to you? Each student will be expected to start graduation prep about half-way through their training! Talk to Chrissy if you have any questions.

Daily journal

Your teacher training journal entries are the first step in developing a daily practice. Set a time of day, or two, to sit down with your journal and be with yourself. Yogis cultivate knowledge not only through the practice and study of yoga but through the study of the self (Svādhyāya). Pay attention to what you write down or what you do not write down. Notice what is difficult about daily practice, also find out what can be rewarding from this discipline. Journals are private and open to any thoughts, feelings, experiences, or conversations that arise, but here is a list of things you can keep in your journal:

  • Practice log: reflect on your asana, pranayama, or meditation
  • Dreams: begin to track your dreams
  • Daily recap: just write about what you do and who you see each day
  • Art: draw yoga poses, doodles, landscapes, your pets, your friends
  • Sanskrit: writing and rewriting new words for memorization
  • Poetry
