"From the moment we arrived at Rio Chirripo Lodge, I knew that we were in a special place. It was the perfect place for our Yoga retreat, and I felt so welcome. Oriana and Frank have built an incredible place that you can call home during your stay, every detail of the resort has been artistically designed to please the eye. The yoga studio nestled in the mountain was a beautiful place to practice, and each guest room was unique in it's own way. If you have trouble sleeping, just open the windows and listen to the river that flows below. The delicious food, prepared by a dedicated staff was beautifully presented and planned out. With vegetarian options at every meal, we ate like royalty. We even had snacks waiting for us during one of our hikes. Unreal!!!"

"This place is perfect for anyone who wants beauty, great service, and peace."

"This is one of our favorite getaways in all of Costa Rica. The hotel offers an incredible environment to get away, relax, hike and reconnect . Situated on a beautiful river for swimming and with incredible mountain views it's like you stepped into paradise. The pool is heated and the jacuzzi after long hikes is perfect. The bedding, oh the bedding, on the beds is just by far the best. A great nights sleep is always had here. The food is incredible too. Ori makes the best pizza nights fired up in their beautiful cob oven. The gardens are so beautiful through out the property always in full bloom with some of the most exotic flowers I have ever seen . And the food gardens are blooming full force. Frank and Ori are the best and knowledgeable hosts one can have. Early morning Yoga in the yoga studio with Megan rocks the house too! I love this place and recommend this hidden gem to everyone. Perfect place for Couples, families, retreats, girls get always."

"We had an unforgettable experience at Rio Chirripo and it was only for one night but a day and night I would never forget. Absolutely beautiful, the views, the town, and the company. I highly recommend and hope I have the opportunity to experience again. Very Welcoming, Oriana greeted us by our first name with a warm smile one step into the door and the smile never left. My husband said it was first vacation he felt at home while experiencing paradise, best of both worlds. The owners are the nicest, we hiked Chirripo they took care of transportation to trail head and let us soak in the beautiful pool after. We were served a four course incredible meal and treated like royalty. Hope I get to see you again and thank you for creating such an amazing little piece of heaven!"

"I don't have words for how wonderful this place is, as well as the couple that runs it. It's quiet, relaxing, and beautiful down to every detail. The food is supper fresh, healthy and amazingly tasty! I didn't have time to get in the pool or hike down by the river, but I will definitely be going back another weekend to relax and take in the beauty of this place. We had an amazing view from our balcony and the beds were comfy. I only wish I could have stayed longer."

"I am a yoga retreat leader. I took a group of 10 people to Rio Chirripo Lodge. The place exhales beauty everywhere you look. The blue mountains surround the hotel. The rooms are very cozy, perfect temperature, perfect bedding for a good night sleep."

"The yoga room has a wonderful view to the mountains and has all the props you need for a good class. There is also a bathroom right there, that came in handy on the chilly afternoon class."

"Oriana, Frank and all their people make you feel better than at home. There is a lot of detail in everything they do. Everything was set to make us feel special. The food is healthy and delicious. Everything is fresh. Some of the products they use are local, so that helps the community."

"They have a fire place in the main room that invites the whole group to gather around it and bond."

"The gardens, the pool, the pond, the river, they all offer beauty and relaxation."

"It was a neat experience that will definitely like to repeat."

"Rio Chirripo Retreat is a hidden gem, conveniently located close to Chirripo National Park. Any vehicles have no problem to get there. We were fortunate to stay in a huge and beautiful suite without extra cost since the owners, Frank and Oriana gave us a giant upgrade. They were very friendly during our entire stay and our 6-year-old son made friends with their nephew. My husband has been in the tourism business for about 13 years and has stayed in many lodges and hotels in Costa Rica. He was really impressed by their resourcefulness (for example, the use of free floaties for kids at the swimming pool and a compact flashlight attatched to our room key). Although we only ate breakfast there, it was very delicious and healthy. Once again, my husband said that the meal had a nice twist, compared with other lodges and hotels.Overall, we all loved Rio Chirripo Retreat and highly recommend it to anyone who loves Yoga and nature. It is a very relaxing environment and so much better than typical tour destinations, such as Arenal and Quepos. We are already plannning to come back next year! Thank you very much for this piece of heaven, Frank and Oriana."

"Not only did I photograph 8 new bird species for me, some from the balcony of my room! But I rested well and ate some of the best healthy food I have eaten anywhere! It would be worth a stay just to eat her great food, all fresh, natural, and homemade!I also recommend for nature lovers a hike in the nearby Cloudbridge Reserve where I photographed even more birds and two gorgeous waterfalls! A guide helps a lot and Blaine was a great guide!"

"We made our reservations not knowing anything about this place. It was the most serendipitous decision I've ever made. "

"I'm a mostly critical and analytical individual (although I try not to be). At my hardest look I could find nothing negative to say about this awesome place. "

"I found Rio Chirippo to be accommodating beyond even demanding expectations. This place is beautiful, well maintained, serene and affordable, and clean enough for the most discriminating of us. The peaceful discoveries are without end: overwhelming views, unique & awesome furniture in the commons, delicious and beautiful meals, outstanding hospitality, unequaled gardens (the whole place is a garden), man made water areas, God made water areas & there are trails (in perfect repair) running through all of it for you to enjoy. "

"We made reservations for one night and stayed for two additional (lucky for us we caught it on days where they were able to allow us to extend our visit on a moments notice). The only bad part about the experience was the surreal anticlimax of having to go back to the real world. "

"If ever Shangri-la or utopia ever existed then this is it."

"My boyfriend and I participated in a trail running activity on slopes of Chirrip (and it was also my birthday!) and decided to book on Rio Chirrip. We made the right choice! The place is just perfect, incredibly neat and relaxing. Oriana was the sweetest thing ever. She was super welcoming, she even baked me a birthday cake!!!! They also helped us out with the run, by serving breakfast early than usual and also explaining us a little bit about the trail. I felt really proud and happy to know that we have this kind of warm hearted place to stay in that area. In few words: warm and kind hospitality, peaceful and adorable setting, spaceful and beautiful place."

"Everything about the Rio Chirripo Retreat exceeded our expectations. We visited the area in order to climb Cerro Chirripo, Costa Rica's highest mountain, with our two children, who are 12 and 10. Our room was huge and airy with wonderful views. The food was delicious and locally-sourced and delicately presented. The pool and hot-tub, with the Rio Chirripo tumbling over massive boulders just a few steps away, were a tranquil haven where we could rest and recuperate after our climb. There is truly nothing that I would have altered about our stay at the Rio Chirripo Retreat - but what makes this place so special, is the hosts, Oriana and Frank, who are warm-hearted and welcoming and are the heart and soul of this magical mountain lodge accommodation."

"We wholeheartedly recommend spending time at the Rio Chirripo Retreat for the tranquil and beautiful setting, the warm hospitality, and wonderful food. We live in country so have tried many hotels throughout Costa Rica and this ranks as one of our favorites. What we liked: Easy to get to and convenient to the highway yet far enough away to lose yourself in the forest. Gracious hosts, Frank and Oriana are delightful people and we had lots of fun spending time with them. The food, the breakfasts were vast and fresh, and the dinners were full of unique items and delicious, including the vegan requirements of some of our party. Nicely done. The accommodations, comfortable rooms with terraces looking out over the forest valley. The pool and hot tub area was great and we spent an afternoon there lounging, reading & napping. Lots of nice hiking areas in the area also kept us busy. The price was very reasonable compared to other options and absolutely superior when you factor in the quality of the experience and facility. We wholeheartedly recommend Rio Chirripo Retreat."

The owners Frank & Orana (sorry if I misspelled) were superb hosts & I even got to meet the hotel mascot - Max ! I unfortunately was not able to take any yoga classes but its obvious they would be a success. The flowers, overall peaceful aura & folks running the hotel will make me visit again and again."

"I just can't find all the superlatives to describe this stunningly beautiful retreat centre. It was already a treat to share this yoga experience with some family members and to meet lovely new people, but things just kept getting better. There's a palpable feeling of serenity, not only because of the mountains that cradled us, but also because of the warmth, kindness, and care of Frankie, Ori, Cecilia, and all the others who cooked, cleaned, and taught salsa on Saturday night! The property itself is clearly so lovingly tended, flowers abound, the pool and hammocks beckon, and the rushing Rio Chirripo draws you to bask on the rocks along it's shore. And the food was beyond excellent - fresh fruit and a wide range of courses for every meal. Our balcony room was perfect. It's impossible to convey in words what a magical place this is. Muchas gracias to everyone there!"

"We spent a week at Rio Chirripo Retreat with about 20 others on a yoga retreat. The setting is quite magnificent with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and forests. The weather was quite lovely, much drier than the weather at the beach towns on the west coast. The main building is really beautiful, a tranquil, inviting place for relaxing, conversation, or Spanish dancing lessons. The river is refreshing, the pool is beautiful, the hammocks are very comfortable, and the food was top notch. Finally, the hosts and staff are very friendly and helpful with all aspects of the trip"

"My wife and i stayed at Rio Chirriipo Retreat for 5 days, and this was easily the best place we have stayed in our travels. True to its name it was a well planned retreat that has been given much thought and work to create a environment where you could relax and enjoy every part of it, including the meditation center, pool, hot tub, and the creek that runs though the property. What impressed us most was the hospitality of the owner Frank and his partner Oriana who treated the guest as their guest, going out of their way to make every one comfortable. In my case climbed mount Chirripo and I couldn't have done it without the help of Oriana and Frank who organized the permit and provided transportation, but most importantly provided advice and tips which helped enjoy my climb. If you are in Costa Rica, don't miss getting out and staying at this retreat!"

"My family visited Rio Chirripo Retreat for 2 nights in February 2015 during our family vacation. We drove there straight from San Jose airport and arrived just after dark. The owners Frank and Ori were already waiting for us and set us up in our gorgeous room right away. We then ate a delicious 3 course dinner and enjoyed a peaceful night by the fire. We were the only guests and we got upgraded to their nicest room, which had a king bed and a double-bed. The beds were so comfortable and the sounds of the countryside put us to sleep. The best part of the room was waking up to the gorgeous view of the Costa Rican mountainside. Just from the balcony of our room we were able to spot many different birds. The breakfasts prepared for us were amazing; a plate of fresh fruit, farm fresh eggs, pancakes, homemade bread, vegetable quiche; thinking about it now makes my mouth water. We spent the day hiking in the cloudforest at Mount Chirripo which was only a short drive from the retreat. After our hike we went back to the retreat and relaxed by the pool, which is nestled in the mountainside right next to a roaring river. For dinner we were again served a healthy delicious 3 course meal: squash soup, orange chicken over rice, and a chocolate dessert to die for.Our favorite part staying at Chirripo Retreat besides the gorgeous views, delicious food, and amazing room was that fact that Ori and Frank were so kind, fun, and helpful. They have such a great knowledge about Costa Rica and helped us plan the rest of our trip. They were super friendly and the second night we stayed up chatting with them for a couple of hours. Our last morning, we took a yoga class in the gorgeous open yoga studio that looks over the mountains. It was the most relaxing yoga class I've ever taken. The teacher chose a flow that was both beginner and intermediate friendly. We never wanted to leave! And when we did, it felt like we left having gained some new friends. Thanks Ori and Frank! We hope to come back soon!"

"From the moment you arrive, you feel a sense of belonging and that you never want to leave. We travelled as a very large group of 5 families and descended into Frank and Oriana hungry and tired from our travels. Immediately we were welcomed with the most beautiful buffet of healthy food and juices that one can only dream of. The view, the clean air, the beautiful sound of the river, and birds just added to our awe. The kids loved the large space and the pool. Yoga at 7 a.m. in the beautiful pavilion was a peaceful experience for all involved. Frank and Oriana were also very helpful at recommending activities around the area and often driving part of the group as the other part walked. The food was absolutely out of this world. Not only was it extremely fresh but chef Joe was creative and has a divine way in the kitchen. The kitchen staff were very sweet."

"I cannot say enough good things about the place. When you leave you feel a bit melancholic as if you are leaving friends but you also leave feeling healthier and tranquil. I just hope I can go again soon."

The hosts were extremely accommodating, helping us with a smooth visit to the area. We ended up sharing yoga classes and dinner with a group of yogis from Canada and felt as though we had stumbled on a peaceful home away from home. "I just stayed at Rio Chirripo Retreat for 7 days, with my husband, two sons (2 and 4), and their grandmother (80). And we all loved it! The climate was perfect. Hardly any mosquitoes. Beautiful view. A lot of privacy. The owners are lovely and extremely helpful. The food was very healthy and tasteful. And we could use their kitchen too whenever we wanted to cook something ourselves. We had several very special experiences like: sitting in the hot tub with full moon, enjoying the wood fire with a glass of wine, and waking up with the most beautiful view you can imagine. We also liked it a lot because of the nice contact we had with the other guests. Everybody seemed to feel at home. People cooking together, reading a book in the big but cozy Rancho, children playing together at the swimming pool. This place may not be for everybody (e.g. there is no television anywhere, there is no red meat or french fries served), but for us as lovers of nature, of beautiful details, and of a healthy lifestyle, Rio Chirripo is absolutely perfect!"
