    Amazing!

PROS Pros: Although it was a very short yoga-retreat for me (less than 4 full days), I enjoyed every minute of it. First of all, Orient is so quiet and peaceful; here your mind can find rest, also for the 'stressy' people like me. It's also very nice walking in the mountains around Orient. The house and certainly the surrounding garden : it is a kind of paradise : no big and special things, but through its simplicity, it's so wonderful and enjoyable. I found my favourite little spaces (the hammock and the eco-fun shower, overlooking the mountains) and could take in the breathtaking views. Salva, the yoga and pilates-instructor, made my stay here even more fantastic : he teaches the classes with such an enthusiasm and professional knowledge; it's really motivating and inspiring. Although I have problems with my lower back, he adjusted every exercise to my level, and told me when I had to be extra careful and of course without being too soft. Mostly I was surprised by the pilates-classes : I wish they were the same in gym here in Belgium. Being home, I still think a lot about those few fantastic days. Then I close my eyes, take a few deep breaths, and imagine laying on the lovely yoga deck in that beautiful garden in Orient. So I trained my body AND soul, and I manage now much better to slow down in real life. So, I really want to thank Salva and also his wife Esther, who takes care of the administration and practical matters. I wish them good luck and all the best. Probably until next time! Perfect escape in the mountains

CONS Cons: There aren't any grocery stores in the village so if you want to cook your own meals or buy bottled water/drinks, stop off at a supermarket on the way (Alcampo near the airport). The restaurant/hotel opposite did shut on Monday and Tuesday night (I get the feeling they close if they have no bookings) so having a car or some food in the house is good as a backup plan. There's also a really swish restaurant at the top of the village if needed.

PROS Pros: Had a fantastic week at Rectoria, a beautiful old stone house in the stunning Tramuntana mountain range. I loved the location, nestled in a tiny Majorcan village, tucked down a side street, at the top of which is a restaurant (which served fantastic ice cream to cool you down in the afternoon or freshly squeezed orange juice and cake). It was very peaceful and completely silent at night. I found the beds comfy and enjoyed the minimalist style of the house, with multiple bathrooms (really powerful showers) and a well equipped kitchen (lots of pots, pans, sharp knives nice hob, oven, fridge, freezer etc). We cooked quite a few of our own meals here. The yoga and pilates were brilliant. We took classes out on the decking in the garden, to the sound of bird song. Salva is a fantastic instructor, very patient, encouraging and warm, with such attention to detail. I'd been taking classes and been on 3 yoga retreats previously and had never realised my alignment was wrong on some of the main asanas and the subtle correction made a lot of sense and definitely felt like I had become more flexible by the end of the week. I enjoyed the Ashtanga style and Salva was great at adapting it, to suit our pace. The hiking was definitely a highlight for me, especially the hike up the mountain to Castell d'Alharo. We had stunning views and enjoyed lunch in a lovely mountain cafe. Very rustic, with bread, ham, olives and wine. Or without the bread if you're gluten intolerant like me (I brought along some gluten free oat biscuits and snacks just to substitute the carbs)! I left feeling refreshed. It was a very positive experience. Salva and his wife are lovely people. So warm, friendly and helpful as we had many questions about traveling around the island. They don't live on site, but gave us their mobile numbers so we could text or call if needed. The breakfast supplies were lovely too :) Lots of fresh fruit, eggs and tasty snacks. Overall a fantastic experience and a refreshing change from the more resorty yoga retreats out there. This one really is off the beaten track (hire a car to go and explore or get to a local grocery store [a few in the nearby town of Alaro]).

    10 out of 10

"The entire trip was an amazing experience from start, as the organising family arranged for a convenient pick up and drop off to the beautiful retreat worthy of staying at in the winter just as well. The warm welcome and amazing spirit of my trainer and point of communication was a complete delight.. with great support and guidance through everything and the amazing atmosphere this was the ultimate break from the city and a fast pace lifestyle. I would recommend this trip any day as everyone needs a good break at some point while maintaining a healthy routine that includes indoor and outdoor adventures. "
