Accommodation

The first location is a simple off-grid eco retreat. They have five bright and airy cabins that sit on stilts directly over the lagoon. These cabins feature solar power, an outdoor compost toilet and cold water shower, a fan, and a private deck. They have three private cabins, one twin cabin, and a split level cabin with four beds.

Sleeping in these cabins is a special experience – you are glamping in a tropical wilderness. The cabins are fully screened so no insects or animals can get in! They also have one twin room featuring two double beds in the farmhouse which is set up on a hill in the jungle. The farmhouse includes a bathroom and shower.

The second location offers more comfort with six beautifully designed over the water cabins. Four of these cabins have two double beds, an outdoor freshwater shower with hot water and a deck overlooking the ocean. There are also two full bathrooms set behind these cabins for a more private shower option. The sun rises right in front of these bungalows year-round.

There is one more spacious private cabin set on its own with an ensuite bathroom and a spacious four-bed cabin its set in a different area with on its own deck and ensuite bathroom.

(*)Please note that one cabin at the first location is less private as it is set above the communal deck area. Reclaim Your Self will off-set this by allocating the more spacious ensuite cabin at the second location.

Program

Is this retreat for you?

This retreat is for the adventurous yogi traveller. All locations are remote. You will travel in local boats, so if you suffer from sea sickness this may not be the retreat for you.

At your first location, you will be glamping in the jungle so there is wildlife of all kinds, including spiders, scorpions, and snakes. It’s unlikely that you’ll encounter these creatures and they cannot get into your cabins, but people with phobias should be warned.

A love of animals is ideal – a friendly dog lives at your first location and rescue monkeys live at your second location so if you have any allergies please take care.

Practice strong, soulful, and deep dynamic flow yoga with Tania twice a day while enjoying the sounds of the jungle and gentle lapping waves. Mid week you will have a day off and head out by boat to explore some secret islands. At night both islands are surrounded by bioluminescent waters under star-filled skies.

The second location is also home to the Monkey Island Foundation: 12 monkeys from four different species who have been rescued and permanently live on the island. They live a happy life and like to spend time with guests.

Tania will teach 12 classes over the retreat. You’ll have 2 classes each day, both 1.5 hours long. You can expect a strong, precise, alignment based practice with emphasis on what is appropriate for you as an individual, yoga is a gift for all of us!

Tania is passionate about promoting health, vitality and wellbeing through yoga, in a light hearted, balanced and fun way. Tania teaches yoga for EVERYONE! No ego. No competition. No matter what your fitness level, age, status or body shape.

This is a positive impact yoga retreat

Carbon off-setting

The cost of off-setting guest and team flights and transfers is included in your retreat fee.

Both locations have been chosen for their excellent eco-credentials. 100% of their energy is generated from solar panels, water is collected from the rain and waste is composted.

Reforestation and creating eco-tourism

Your first location began as a re-forestation project and is joint venture between the local Ngäbe owners and the expat tenants who have co-created a small off-grid eco-friendly tourist venture.

Environmental protection

At your second location, structures were designed to harmoniously blend in with the landscape while maximising natural ventilation; and built using local timber only. Great care was taken to maintain the lush vegetation of the island. Red mangroves are what make this island a nursery of life and the owners responsibly protect them.

Working with local partners

At your second location, staff are indigenous women from the local Ngäbe village. The seafood and seasonal fruits are bought directly from Ngäbe fishermen and farmers. All new structures and improvements are done by workers from the village. %They have created a variety of tours and activities that involve their neighbours in a meaningful way; providing them with not only economic empowerment, but also a glimpse into the many benefits and opportunities eco-tourism can bring to the area, and to their community.

Recycling

Panamanian recycling programs are not advanced enough to support the use of plastic bottles and aluminium cans. To minimise waste and protect the environment Reclaim Your Self ask oguests not to bring canned or plastic containers of drinks.

Bio-degradable products

To protect reef and the high variety of sea animals, Reclaim Your Self ask guests to please consider what you are putting on your skin, in your hair, and down the drain.

Included excursions

  • A four-hour jungle and waterfall trek.
  • A six-hour secret island excursion.

Retreat location

This yoga holiday takes place on two very different islands. First you travel by boat to Isla San Cristóbal for two nights in simple reef cabins dotted along the shore and a farmhouse set in the forest.

Explore 145 acres of jungle, vibrant with wildlife and meet the resident sloths. Dive into emerald green waters, snorkel among the colourful coral reef and explore the lagoon by kayak.

Then, participants will spend five nights on a private island located in the most secluded area of the archipelago. Six beautiful cabins have been built on stilts over the water, suspended over pristine waters, close to mangrove forests, seagrass meadows, and coral reefs.

This place is made for relaxing with sunbathing decks, picturesque swings over the water and a hammock-therapy terrace with panoramic views. Float around in the shallow natural pools surrounding the island or play water volleyball. You can also head out kayaking and snorkelling or book a massage.

Food

Your retreat includes three delicious meals each day. Start the day with fresh coconut water or a smoothie and enjoy hearty, healthy meals made with organic, local ingredients.
