During this holiday, you will stay either in a private or a shared lodge at Skíðadalur Valley. Surrounded by beautiful mountains, the lodge is an ancient sheep farm that has been inhabited from the time of the vikings. The family-run location includes newly built cottages, a traditional farmhouse, a yoga barn, bath house, sauna, and an outdoor hot tub. There are eight beautiful lodges that have mountain views. Each lodge has an upper loft with a double bed and a single bed on the main floor. There is a bathroom with a shower in each apartment. There are also three private rooms in the farmhouse.


This retreat combines yoga and adventures in wild nature. Practicing yoga and meditation in the Icelandic wilderness can be a liberating and powerful experience. Your yoga holiday will include 15 hours of yoga and meditation classes with Emma, and your meals will be prepared by the expert chef Saba Rahbar, who will prepare delicious, nourishing, and warming vegan meals.

Modifications and progressions are given so that students of all levels will find these yoga classes rewarding but it is recommended you have previous experience of a flow class and enjoy being challenged by a dynamic style of yoga. There will be 15 hours of yoga and meditation classes, with two yoga classes on most days. You’ll use the unique experience of wild Icelandic nature to enhance your practice.

Thermal baths, hot tubs, and sauna

This is a must do in Iceland and the perfect compliment to the Dynamic yoga and the exploring focus of this yoga holiday! During this retreat, you will have an outdoor hot tub available with views down the valley and a sauna at the retreat center. You will also spend a few hours soaking at the Myvatn natural spa.

Included excursions

Explore the geothermal wilderness of Myvatn

Iceland is made for exploring. You will spend a day out at the world famous Lake Myvatn geothermal region, where all that makes Iceland so unique can be experienced within a few hours, from powerful waterfalls, characteristic volcanoes, geothermal activity, and a nature spa.

Your first stop will be the beautiful Goðafoss Waterfall also known as "The Waterfall of the Gods" and then you will visit the pseudocraters where the American astronauts trained, where the dark cities full of unique lava-pillars are, and where the home of our yulelads is settled.

Afterwards, you will move on to the high temperature field, an exhilarating place with bubbling mud pools, and smelly suplhar fumaroles! The day ends in a relaxing dip in the nature baths of Mývatn, the Blue Lagoon of the North, with a great view of the lake.

Horse riding and whale watching

Icelandic horses are gentle and friendly and riding through the mountains is a fabulous way to enjoy wild nature. You can also enjoy whale watching on the fjords.


Emma Henry
(Jivamukti Yoga)
Emma was introduced to yoga in the mid-90s and has been teaching since 1998. Her background in dance and martial arts is evident in her dynamic, innovative, and playful choreography and understanding of anatomy and the subtle body. Her yogic path has led her to Mysore from practicing Ashtanga with Sri K. Pattabhi Jois to advanced certification in the Jivamukti method. She is an advanced certified Jivamukti teacher and facilitates the Jivamukti teacher training with Sharon Gannon and David Life.
Adam Husler
With experience in the boxing ring, on ultra marathon routes, studying law, and with nine years of having a yoga mat in hand, Adam brings a unique perspective to his yoga teaching. His love of anatomy has led him to specialize in alignment-based Vinyasa yoga. Based in London, Adam teaches regular classes and workshops, along with international and online teaching.

Retreat location

This retreat will take place at the Skíðadalur Valley in Northern Iceland. The Skiðadalur Valley is a great area for hiking and horse riding and its the only way to experience the beauty of the valley, as there are no roads. This wild and peaceful location is near Troll Peninsula surrounded by beautiful mountains.

Two daily vegan or plant-based food meals and snacks will be served during this retreat. All meals will be created by the expert chef Saba Rahbar. You can expect tasty meals that are gluten and sugar free. You’ll have plenty of fresh herbal teas and water is included. However, when you are out and about it’s fine to have the odd glass of wine or a treat. A hot chocolate in town after a dip in the hot pools is pretty good!

Plant-based foods include fresh vegetables, fruits, whole-grains, beans, and legumes. It does not include meat or dairy products. There is a focus on using minimally processed foods, keeping as close to the foods’ natural form as possible. In keeping with this ethos, Reclaim Your Self also avoids using gluten or refined sugar and focuses on using natural sugars.

Reclaim Your Self wants to ensure that the food is organic and locally sourced, which means you get the freshest and most nutritiously dense food on your plate. The aim is to serve you the best quality food that fills you with goodness and fuels your yoga practice and healthy holiday activities. The food served is non-challenging to the digestive system, enabling you to maximize the benefits of your retreat. Plant-based food works very well with yoga and Reclaim Your Self is proud of creating healthy, well-balanced, and filling meals that make you feel fantastic.

This is not a detox retreat although it is an alcohol and caffeine free retreat. Reclaim Your Self encourages you to embrace a healthy approach as it’s there to help you maximize the benefits of your healthy weekend. Menus can be adjusted to suit dietary needs and you are welcome to share what you need since Reclaim Your Self wants to be sure you feel well fed and happy.

The location in Northern Iceland is an inspiring wilderness, perfect for exploring so you can truly immerse yourself in all that Iceland has to offer. You can choose whether to do everything or take time out and chill when you need to.

Enjoy the lights

North Iceland offers the ideal setting to watch Northern Lights. They happen when the interplay of many natural factors, such as cold temperatures, cloudless skies, and high solar activity combine perfectly, so to see the dance of the lights is a gift of the Northern winter.

Mountain hike and Icelandic horse riding

Skiðadalur Valley is a great area for hiking and horse riding and its the only way to experience the beauty of the valley, as there are no roads. You can enjoy horse riding for an additional cost of 35 GBP per person per hour.

There are numerous paths and routes to explore from the retreat house, including a short walk to the nearby waterfall. There is also available a full day hiking to the glacier with the local guide, Anna Dóra Hermannsdóttir. This activity has an additional cost of approximately 40 GBP.

If you are keen on horse riding, you can opt to explore the valley on horseback, in the company of an expert guide and local horseman Simbi.

Spa treatments

During this retreat, you will visit the local thermal pools in Akureyri and spend a few hours soaking at the Myvatn natural spa at the of the day after exploring the area. The spa entry in Akuyeri has an additional cost of 8 GBP and the natural spa in Myvatn entry fee is 20 GBP.

Reclaim Your Self also have their own massage therapist Amanda Tizard joining this retreat to offer powerful massage and healing treatments, along with watsu sessions in the thermal pools.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Please book your flight to arrive at Keflavik International Airport (KEF). You can fly direct from UK with IcelandAir, Easyjet, British Airways, and Wow Air. From USA you can fly with Wow Air and IcelandAir.

Then, you can take a domestic flight to Akureyri Airport (AEY) early evening. Flights from UK are around 200 GBP return and domestic flights 150 GBP return if you book early. The return transfers from Akureyri Airport (AEY) are included. All the timings and details will be given when you book.

Arrival by bus

If you have a bit more time, fly to Keflavik International Airport (KEF) on Thursday, 12 October with any airline, stay overnight in Keflavik to visit the Blue Lagoon or in Reykjavik itself and join the minibus drive north the next morning.

Journey time is around six hours and the landscape is stunning. If you take this option you will arrive at the retreat in the afternoon and have an extra yoga class.

The minibus will depart from Keflavik only. If you stay in the Reykjavik center, you will need to make your own way there and back which is a one-hour bus ride each way.

If you want additional time to explore Reykjavik, it is recommended doing this on return from the retreat as your domestic flight will take you back into the city center. All the timings and details will be given when you book.
