Join Jivamukti yoga teacher, Emma Henry, for an extraordinary yoga retreat in Northern Iceland. You will stay at a stylish private farm in cozy cabins set at the end of a remote valley, surrounded by beautiful mountains. During this retreat, you will enjoy daily yoga classes and delicious vegetarian meals. There will be time to relax and enjoy the bathhouse or book a massage. You can add options to hike in the mountains, ride Icelandic horses, watch whales in the fjords depending on how action-packed you would like your retreat to be. You finish with a day out exploring the Lake Mývatn geothermal region and a sunset soak in the thermal pools. With any luck, you will see the Northern Lights too.
During this retreat, you will stay either in a private or shared cabin. The family-run location includes newly built cabins, a traditional farmhouse, a yoga barn, bathhouse, sauna, and an outdoor hot tub. There are eight beautiful cabins that have mountain views. Each lodge has an upper loft with a double bed and a single bed on the main floor. There is a bathroom with a shower in each apartment. There are also three private rooms in the farmhouse. These rooms are cozy and comfortable with shared bathrooms so are offered at a lower rate.
This retreat combines yoga and adventures in wild nature. Practicing yoga and meditation in the Icelandic wilderness can be a liberating and powerful experience. Your yoga holiday will include 15 hours of yoga and meditation classes with Emma. Modifications and progressions are given so that students of all levels will find these yoga classes rewarding but it is recommended you have previous experience of a flow class and enjoy being challenged by a dynamic style of yoga.
Between classes, you can add excursions like hiking, riding, and whale watching, and you will spend a whole day out exploring the dramatic and beautiful geothermal area around Lake Myvatn.
Thermal baths are a must do in Iceland and the perfect compliment to the dynamic yoga and the action-packed nature of this retreat. Enjoy the outdoor hot tub with views down the valley, relax in the sauna, or book a massage. You will also spend a few hours soaking at the Myvatn natural spa during your day out.
Iceland is made for exploring. You will spend a day out at the world famous Lake Myvatn geothermal region, where all that makes Iceland so unique can be experienced within a few hours, from powerful waterfalls, characteristic volcanoes, geothermal activity, and a natural spa. Your first stop will be the beautiful Goðafoss Waterfall also known as "the waterfall of the gods" and then you will visit the dark cities full of unique lava-pillars are where you stop for lunch.
Then, you move on to the high-temperature field, an exhilarating place with bubbling mud pools, and smelly sulfur fumaroles. The day ends in a relaxing dip in the nature baths of Mývatn, the Blue Lagoon of the North, with a great view of the lake.

Three daily vegetarian meals and snacks will be served during this retreat. You will have plenty of fresh herbal teas and water is included. However, when you are out and about, it is fine to have the odd glass of wine or a treat. A hot chocolate in town after a dip in the hot pools is pretty good. Reclaim Your Self encourages you to embrace a healthy approach as it is there to help you maximize the benefits of your healthy weekend. Menus can be adjusted to suit dietary needs and you are welcome to share what you need.
The location in Northern Iceland is an inspiring wilderness, perfect for exploring so you can truly immerse yourself in all that Iceland has to offer. North Iceland offers the ideal setting to watch Northern Lights. They happen when the interplay of many natural factors, such as cold temperatures, cloudless skies, and high solar activity combine perfectly, so to see the dance of the lights is a gift of the Northern winter.
If you would like to try horse riding, choose the two-hour scenic ride through the valley on gentle horses or if you are an experienced rider, you will enjoy the three-hour fast-paced horseback adventure. There is an additional cost for this activity.
Reclaim Your Self has owned their bodyworker, Amanda Tizard, offering massage treatments and craniosacral therapy. Her treatment room is part of the bathhouse so you can combine your treatment with a soak in the hot tub or sauna session. During this retreat, you will visit the Myvatn natural spa and have a long soak at sunset looking out onto the incredible landscape. The Myvatn entry fee is 20 GBP.
The experienced guides will offer a half-day hike through the mountains for wild nature lovers or a full day glacier climb for the adventure seekers. There is an additional cost for this activity.
You head out onto the fjord with the local whale watching guides on a private boat to spend some time with the friendly whales who often come to the boat to check you out. Floating on the fjord surrounding by a surreal landscape of snowy mountains is an otherworldly and magical day out.
Please book your flight to arrive at Akureyri Airport (AEY). International flights to Iceland arrive at Keflavik Airport and then you take an onward domestic flight with Air Iceland Connect.
You will need to transfer from the international airport to the domestic airport which takes 50 minutes. You can pre-book a transfer bus and Reclaim Your Self will also connect travelers on the same flights so they can share taxis. You should give yourself three hours from landing in Keflavik to your domestic flight departure time.
Transfers from Akureyri Airport (AEY) to and from the retreat are included in your retreat package. It takes one hour to drive to the retreat location so they will collect you at a set time only. Your pick up time is at 17:15 at Akureyri Airport (AEY) on October 4th. Your drop off time is 10:00 at Akureyri Airport (AEY) on October 9th.

October 9th: NY121 departing Akureyri at 11:10, arriving Reykjavik at 11:55.
Due to the remote location of the retreat farm, no other transfer options are possible so please take care to book the correct flights.
