Accommodation

During this yoga retreat, you will be accommodated at a beautiful yurt venue in East Devon. The yurts are peacefully set in two acres of meadow with panoramic views over the River Otter and close to some beautiful local beaches. The yurts are comfortably furnished and each one has a wood burner, outdoor camp fire, and hammocks. Each yurt accommodates four people, but if you wish to have a yurt for yourself or with friends/couples please let Rebecca Miller Yoga know.

Rebecca Miller Yoga Retreat UK Program

The weekend will begin on Friday the 13th July and you will be greeted with a choice of teas and snacks before settling into your home for the weekend. There will be an afternoon practice before enjoying a delicious vegan dinner together.

Over the weekend, there will be morning and afternoon yoga practices, including meditation, breathing, relaxation, and a mix of both Dynamic and Yin or Restorative yoga. You are welcome to do as much or as little as you wish. There will be plenty of free time to explore the local area, go for a river or beach swim, snooze in the hammock, and simply enjoy the nature in this beautiful part of the country. The retreat will end on Monday morning around 10 a.m. after a morning yoga practice and final breakfast together.

Yoga

Yoga is an ancient Indian form of exercise that focuses on strength, flexibility, and breathing to boost physical and mental well-being, leading to greater integration of being, internal peacefulness, and clarity of mind. The word “yoga” means to “unite”. Yoga is all about uniting or harmonizing the body with the mind and breath through breathing techniques, yoga postures, and meditation. The practice of yoga helps to relieve stress as well as unclutter the mind and helps you to have more focus in life. It can also help you to find a place of peace, tranquility, and stillness in a world often consumed by chaos.

Restorative yoga

In the modern world, you rarely give ourselves permission to just stop, breath, and be still. You are constantly rushing around, often creating a lot of tension in the body and mind, and stimulating the nervous system. Over time, this can have an ill effect on both the body and the mind, so it is really important that you give yourself the self-compassion to slow down and relax.

Restorative yoga is a series of poses that include the use of props such as bolsters, blocks, straps, and blankets to help the student explore deep relaxation, stillness, and inner peace. In these supported poses, the body and mind are guided into relaxation to find stillness and calm with conscious breath. Each student is given the space and encouragement to let go of tension and stress in the mind, body, and breath so they are able to relax deeply, be present, and open their hearts.

Rebecca Miller's yoga journey began in 2002 when she was slowly recovering from a very bad fall whilst snowboarding in France. She started practicing yoga as a way of healing and strengthening her injured shoulder and she never looked back. She found yoga gave her not only balance and strength of the physical body but also balance and strength of the mind. She continued to practice yoga and in 2008. She traveled to India to study and practice the art of yoga in more depth. Her friendly and welcoming classes are open to all ages and abilities.
