      A wonderful experience

CONS Cons: I really enjoyed my stay and don't have anything to complain about

PROS Pros: Pawan and his staff are some of the most friendly and accommodating people I have ever stayed with. I highly recommend Rasa Retreat. Pawan is happy to do almost anything for the happiness of his guests. The Rasa house is very nice inside and my room upstairs was very big with a huge bathroom and private deck - ideal for some mediation or just reading. Each day Pawan provides a card with the schedule for the day. A typical day might begin at 6:30 or so with some hot chai. Yoga on the beach is usually at 7:30 followed by breakfast at the house. Excursions were after breakfast or after lunch. The afternoon is time for some alone time or a massage. I spent my time meditating or reading on the deck. The morning yoga sessions at 7:30 are mostly on the beach about 1 km away. Pawan’s staff drive the guests to the beach where you arrive to find mats set up on the firm sand with towels, bottled water and a flower on each towel. Our instructor, Joseph was wonderful. His classes were a nice mixture of Hatha and Ashtanga. He is very good at freeing the joints at the start of each session, varying the asanas each time, and ending with a really good guided body scan meditation during savasana. It is incredibly wonderful to do yoga to the sounds of the waves from the Arabian sea as they wash onto the shore. I also had one evening yoga session just before sunset which was delightful. On the few days when I was the only guest Joseph tailored the class to my level (and a bit beyond). It was good to be pushed a little and have my posture adjusted as I worked on a pose. The beach is very, very long and was almost deserted in places when I was there in March/April. The sand at the top of the beach is nice to walk on. Nearer the water it packs down hard enough to run on in shoes without leaving much of a print. I found it a bit of a slog running in the heat and humidity. It was cooler running in the mornings at first light before yoga but the day heated up pretty fast. I also ran on the beach one evening but it was still too hot and humid to work very hard even as the sun was setting. Pawan’s dog Coco is an interesting addition to the house crew. She loves to be petted but growls at you while you’re doing it. She has quite the personality. The food at the house is outstanding. There is great variety and I found all of it very tasty. Pawan was happy to accommodate my vegetarian needs. Pawan makes sure that any leftover food is either eaten by his team or goes to the neighbors. Nothing is wasted which is good because we were often served a lot more food than we could eat. We also had several cooking lessons which were a lot of fun. I have been making what I’d call Indian food for many years but it was wonderful to actually cook real Indian food in India. During my six day stay I went on several excursions and a shopping trip. We (the guests) were driven everywhere we needed to go, even if that was on individual shopping trips. On my shopping trip Agnelo, Pawan’s driver, made sure I didn’t get lost amongst the many t-shirt sellers and once he waited while I got my change as the vendors seem to need to wander off to get that - I think in the hope that you will give up waiting and leave. Probably the best excursion we went on was one evening to a small beach where we walked down a cliff path past many monkeys. We swam in the very warm sea and played volleyball on the beach until after sunset. Pawan’s team provided a nice picnic while we were there. It was great to play volleyball with his crew (who are all much younger and far better than me). The staff will do your laundry if you ask. I found this very helpful as I’d already been in India a few days before going to the retreat and clothes get damp every day from the humidity. The weather during my stay, which started in March and ended in April, was hot (85 - 90F) and humid. The Rasa house and bedrooms have A/C and it was nice to be able to sleep in the cool. I find it hard to express just how wonderful the whole experience was. Pawan and his team might well be the nicest, most accommodating hosts on the planet. They made me feel more than welcome; they made me feel part of their extended family.

"My partner and I have had 3 amazing nights at Rasa retreat. We arrived from the craziness of north Goa and wanted nothing more than a chilled out break. Rasa far exceeded our expectations. We had a large, a/c room with outside space and a huge bathroom with lots of lovely touches, Rasa's own toiletries and sumptuous towels which were changed daily. "

"Pawan, Rasa's owner, was a friendly host with an amazing team who ensured that we lacked nothing. The delicious food was of an exceptional standard with lots of variety. "

"I took part in the yoga sessions and had a fabulous massage whilst there. Pawan and his trusty hound Coco really were a delight to be around and I have no hesitation in recommending this home stay/retreat to anyone wanting a truly chilled experience. The local beach was very clean and quiet, ideal for a more serene holiday than most Goan beaches. A lovely, relaxing holiday."

"Everything about this experience was great. The villa itself was well maintained and beautiful, the room was clean and tasteful, the bathroom was spacious with widows for fresh air. The most outstanding feature was the hospitality and service provided by Pawan and his staff. It felt like you were visiting a friend or a family member, not a hotel. I was late getting in, so Pawan got me some food from wherever he was having dinner. Since that was taking time, his staff rustled up a healthy vegetable sandwich to keep me going. My eclectic breakfast requirements were perfectly catered to. Pawan lend me his car for short trips in and around the area. I got some yoga, a massage, good food, and relaxation in a beautiful gated colony. This was the time of demonetization, so he took electronic payments from me and paid cash to whomever I took services from. It was a wonderful trip and my thanks to Pawan for making it easy and comfortable."

"I'm not much of a writer, so bare with me. My husband and I love to travel and do so whenever we can. What I loved about this experience was all we had to do is show up and unpack your bags. The space is very spacious with all the comforts of home. Everything was planned according to our desires beforehand. Pawan and team Rasa cater to all of your needs. Don't let "Yoga Retreat" scare you. I actually loved the yoga, however, it's optional. The food was incredible: taste, presentation, variety, and quality. We chose to have a menu with a variety of different options rather then Indian food only. I can't say enough about the food. Amazing! The adventures were fun, relaxing and interesting. We visited a spice farm, swam under a waterfall, cruised on a river and picnic at a beautiful beach. Have you ever swam in the Indian Ocean? It's incredible. It's the perfect place if you just want to relax. You don't have to waste your time and energy worrying about where to go, eat, how are you going to get there. It's all done for you and at such an affordable price. Good bye Hawaii! Just one more thing. The Rasa team is really there for you. These young men are such a delight to be around. I almost forgot to mention the cooking classes, the massages, the morning walks on the beach. And yes, the professional certified yoga instructor that will gear the yoga for your level. Pawan will take you shopping, if you desire to go, and help you find the best quality and prices that India has to offer. This, by far was one of my best vacations ever. We went to India for a wedding and came across Rasa Reteat by a fluke. Seriously, it is like a little bit of Heaven on Earth. Thanks Pawan for making it possible!"

"We had a great time in Goa due to our awesome host, Pawan and his team. Transfers to/from the airport were a great perk, daily trips to the beach which is about 5 minutes away by car, outstanding food (which they pick menus based on your preferences and dietary needs), various excursions (do all of them!) and yoga classes by the pool or beach. And with the currency issues going on in India, it was so great to have his inclusive package where we could just pay for everything by credit card to him. So, if you're going to Goa, stay at Rasa. You will not regret it. It's the perfect mix of relaxation and activities, plus 5 star hospitality."

"I had such a great time during my 5 day stay at Rasa. Pawan and his staff do an incredible job catering your schedule to your preferences and making you feel totally comfortable and at home. The food really was incredible. Great variety, healthy and full of flavor. There was a great mix of activities, yoga everyday at the beach or poolside, trip to the spice farm and a super fun boat cruise, cooking lessons, happy hour, siestas, shopping and massage. Traveling here by myself was no problem at all. You instantly bond with the staff and other guests. Thanks so much!! Would love to come back."

I even got to take part in a cooking class where the host Pawan with his team showed us how to make delicious momos, Nepalese dish. I am very grateful for a week spent in Rasa and I highly recommend this place for everyone who is visiting South Goa. "

"As a female travelling alone, all the staff as the Rasa Retreat took excellent care of me. They drove me everywhere I wanted to go including to Sunday Mass and the Francis Xavier Cathedral. I had a staff member participant in yoga with me so that I wasn’t alone. I was escorted by a staff member every time I came off the resort. In fact, I was never alone. The staff are sooooo lovely. Such kind guys. Nothing was too much trouble for them even rescuing me from a lizard that had sneaked in my en suite when I was just about to take a shower. And yoga on the beach was breath taking.I would recommend definitely Rasa Retreat for all. And your level of yoga is catered for no matter your fitness or level of expertise. I plan on going back soon. Go on, give it go and you won’t regret it!"

"I'm not sure there are any words that can really explain the experience I had a Rasa Retreat other than to say if love and nurturing truly heals you than this is the place to find it."

"My situation was a bit unique as I had just spent 7rigorous weeks at and Ayurveda treatment center in Kerala. It was amazing but I came out of weeks of treatment and panchkarma exhausted and needing rest and rehab. I had no idea where I could go in India to find a place where they would cook to my prescribed diet, offer yoga to suit my strength and ability level, have the comforts of a nice hotel and also be three minutes from the beach. Rasa met all my expectations and then some with their incredible willingness to individualize my activities, diet and other needs. Pawan is truly an exceptional human and just meeting him and getting to know him a little was worth everything. He has handcrafted a deluxe experience for the visitor that is just unmatchable anywhere in India. His team is gentle, loving, kind and supportive of all your needs and you never feel like you are uncomfortable asking for something. The Ayurveda clinic around the corner offers ala catre treatments so you can pamper yourself if the in house rasa massages aren't numerous enough for you. The beach is truly lovely. They say most of the beaches in Gio are overrun by tourist but this is not the case at Rasa. I was there in March and there weren't a ton of Tourist and it was nice because in the evening all the locals come to the beach to play and watch the sunset giving it a village atmosphere. Because there are Only three or four people at a time you can join in group outings or go off by yourself so it's perfect for solo travelers. I swam laps in the pool, did yoga and spent the afternoon at the beach. Enjoyed wonderful food and company. I'm definitely going back and also want to check out the new Rasa Retreat in Kashmir where you can go trekking and see all the Beauty of the Himalayas. You can't go wrong putting your confidence in pawan he is now a friend for life. On top of everything he also runs a dog rescue which sterilizes and feeds the beach dogs so that they don't suffer and the beach isn't overrun with dogs. Truly an amazing human I was so fortunate to have found Rasa and to share time at Rasa with him and his team."

"I stayed for 7 days at Rasa, and from the moment Pawan met me at the airport to pick me up, I felt totally pampered and taken care of. The whole team at Rasa was excellent and felt like family. Pawan goes above and beyond to make sure you have the best experience. There are many great excursions offered, and if you find something else you want to do or see, Pawan will make it happen in a snap! My favorite excursions were the spice farm and Cabo de Rama fort and beach- stunning! The food was incredible... 3 home-cooked meals a day with optional cooking lessons to learn the recipes. I could go on and on and on about my wonderful time at Rasa, but would definitely recommend someone experience it themselves. I would definitely come back!"

"Had the great pleasure in March of 2015 to vacation at the Rasa retreat. The whole experience was unbelievably awesome. Pawan and his staff really know how to take care of their guests. I enjoyed the excursions, the food (both at home and out on excursions) and the yoga was great. Perfect mix of outgoing adventures and kicking back at the beach or pool. I really wish that someday I can bring friends and family to this awesome retreat. Thanks for all you do Pawan to lead your guests to experience the culture and environment of India. Such a beautiful place, can't wait to return for another retreat."
