Kalyani was born in Brazil in 1979. Kalyani has been studying yoga scriptures and became a devout Hatha and Bhakti yoga. When she was 18, she enrolled as a full time student at Swasthya Yoga School in Brazil and participated in a variety of workshops where she discovered her passion for Asana Choreography.
Seeking experiential knowledge, Kalyani began her official yoga apprenticeship by travelling and living amongst yogic communities all over the world for the next four years. She has since gone into long travels while doing extensive researches and studies on yoga, until Kalyani found home in the shores of Mal Pais, Costa Rica. For the past 7 years, she has been teaching yoga to the community and to the guests of resorts and hotels like Pura Vida Adventures.
For Kalyani, the study of yoga is important to the achievement of the goal. Without adopting the concepts of yoga we cannot fulfill the emptiness of our hearts and change our lives. Going to yoga classes and stretching is not enough. We must understand the concepts behind the practice. We must accept the transformation.
We must accept the gift of love, the gift of union, when this love can be felt deep within the heart as sparkling light from the window of the eyes, everyone gets touched and remembers that in reality we are practicing not just for ourselves or for our own illumination, but for the entire cosmic evolution.
A balanced, calm mind is much easier to obtain when you nourish your body properly. Combining fresh, local ingredients with culinary inspiration and loving intentions, Pura Vida adventures is committed to creating nutritious meals during your transformational yoga week.
Start each morning with Pura Vida adventures healthy tropical smoothies to fuel your body with restorative vitamins and minerals. After yoga, brunch consists of a variety of fresh tropical fruits, homemade granola with organic yogurt, and fresh homemade breads. Heartier specialty dishes like tofu scrambles, vegetarian quiche, omelets or banana pancakes will also be served. An assortment of herbal and caffeinated teas as well as gourmet Costa Rican coffee will be available during the entire retreat.
Three of the six meals during the retreat will be served at Al Chile Viola, Pura Vida adventures hotels beachfront restaurant. Chef Emiliano, from Italy, masterfully prepares dishes using fresh and local ingredients, which express flavor and imagination. The health of our guests remain a cornerstone of each meal and we have carefully selected options to suit vegans, vegetarians, fish and meat lovers alike. Bountiful organic salads will accompany your meals and yummy desserts to satisfy any sweet tooth cravings.
Eating so good will be well deserved and youll be glad you dont have to go far to enjoy some of the best food in town. To give you a taste of the wonderful variety of cuisine and unique atmosphere that Malpais offers, Pura Vida adventures will take you out to our favorite restaurants in the village for the remainder of your dinners. There will be plenty of options to choose from, such as fresh seafood, curries, local plates and tropical salads, as well as brick-oven pizza and fire-roasted chicken, all served either beachside or within a stones throw from the sand.
The first and last night of the retreat there will be a ceremonious gathering during dinner. For your final night Pura Vida adventures will hold a special event beach bonfire to seal in the magic of the retreat. Dancing under the stars, sharing songs and stories, and the laughter of friends are ancient traditions that make this life, and your vacation, rich and memorable.

"Surfing was something thats so different than what I do in my normal life. Pura Vida Adventures taught me to slow the "eff" down, enjoy life, and just chillall while hanging out in an incredible place, eating fantastic food, and having conversations that made me laugh so hard I snorted pineapple-smoothie out of my nose. And the second time was even more incredible than the first. As soon as I walked through the gates of the hotel I had a smile on my face and literally did cartwheels and handstands on the beach my first afternoon there. I fell even more in love with surfing, and more than that, definitely consider Pura Vida my safe haven and happy place. I love the people it attracts, the positive attitudes everyone brings, and the fact that it creates connections that last long beyond the trip. And yeah, Im already planning on heading back for round three in the not-so-distant future! I love you guys!"

"The best moment was the first time I caught a solid wave. Amazing!!! I cant believe that just two and half months ago I couldnt swim and now I am actually surfing and loving it!! There is nothing like facing your fears. After that, I was like, bring it on, I can do anything. This adventure was revitalizing, relaxing, and healing all in one and went far beyond my expectations. Im a changed person since this trip and have come back a far better person. I wish I could share this experience with everyone."

"Pura Vida gives you the whole experience - the surf, the food, the bonding. Most importantly though - I would like to really highlight how AWESOME your staff is. They were all professional in and out of the water but at the same time, super fun. They really looked out for us and we could all tell that they really wanted us to learn and do well. I honestly can not say enough about how great this camp is... SO worth the bruises and cuts, the bug bites and the tacky bathing suit tans we all come back with. I'd do it all over again in an instant."
