Preksha Yoga Ashram is a live-in school, a place of learning where you can focus your mind and learn from experienced and knowledgeable teachers. The ashram is set up to mimic that of India’s traditional and ancient Gurukul System, where you will be guided and supported by teachers throughout your stay with.

This environment is simplistic in nature and practicality, allowing the space for growth and stillness. It is a simple, clean, and eco-friendly, wooden cottages. All rooms have attached bathrooms. The bathrooms are equipped with western toilets and western showers

Program

Most forms of yoga today are dynamic, active practices designed to work mainly the muscular body or the Yang tissue. Yin yoga, on the other hand, allows us to address the other half, the deeper, Yin tissue of our ligaments, joints and our fascia network. More than that Yin yoga offers a great opportunity to learn to release physical and emotional tension, free stagnant or blocked energy and cultivate a peaceful quality of mind.

Learn all essential aspects of practicing and teaching Yin yoga and find out more about the Mindfulness Principles and the Daoist Elements and Meridians this contemplative method integrates. The philosophical and energetic aspects of Yin yoga can be a gateway to healing and offers resources of inspiration for your practice and your teaching.

What Yin yoga is about:

  • Maintain and expand flexibility and mobility, rejuvenate the body
  • Apply mindfulness principles in your practice and create peace in our mind
  • Harmonize body, mind, and soul through the Taoist wisdom of the Chi and the Meridian flow in the poses

Three principles for the yin practice:

  • Come into the pose to an appropriate depth
  • Resolve to remain still
  • Hold the pose for time (3 to 5 minutes on average)

Yin is an incredibly meditative practice, allowing space to be created and experienced in the body and the mind. Using the breath to calm the mind and in turn release the thoughts and bodily tension, finding comfort in the discomfort that may arise.

This teacher training will take place at Preksha Yoga Ashram, India. The ashram is situated amongst the tall banana and coconut trees and surrounded by lush green vegetation, submerged beautifully in the rich nature of Mandrem, Goa. Tranquil and secure in its setting, the ashram is a mere 7-minute walk from Mandrem beach and the soft deep sounds of the sea can often be heard from your beds.

Arrival by airplane

The nearest airport is Goa International Airport (GOI) and is about 50 kilometers away from Mandrem. Pick-up and drop off can be arranged upon request.

Arrival by train

Pernem Railway Station is the nearest railway station which is just about 18 kilometers away from Mandrem. Other railway stations one could alight are Thivim Railway Station, 23 kilometers and Madgaon Railway Station, 63 kilometers.
