Come and enjoy a yoga and wellness retreat in a luxurious, holistic healing resort immersed in nature. Take part in cookery lessons, enjoy nutritious organic meals, and daily yoga and guided meditations. Plantation Villa is a personalized, eco-friendly retreat center combining traditional Vedic disciplines with modern luxury facilities. Built on the foundations of altruism, love, and compassion, the villa also offers nature at its best including a natural waterfall.
The hotel villa is a colonial home, approximately 150 years old. It was the house of the village chief - and it is now converted so it consists of a living room, dinning hall, veranda and open living area, all renovated in end 2015.
The property consists of the main villa and the lodge, each about two minutes walking distance from each other. The lodge is the original house of the first occupier of this colonial treasure. With time, their son built a bigger home to house his expanding family.
The villa consists of eight luxury rooms (two suite rooms and six deluxe rooms) and the dining hall, lounge, verandas, and spa. The lodge consists of six luxury standard rooms and an open veranda. Both the villa and the lodge were renovated in the end of 2015 and is decorated to contemporary colonial style in keeping with the age of the property and to meet guest comforts and modern needs. Rooms are beautifully completed with luxury bathrooms.
The villa won the Country Award for Best Luxury Villa 2016 by Luxury Travel Guide for its careful renovation mixing luxury with colonial heritage yet eco-friendly and one with its environment. Plantation Villa was also awarded with Best Spa Hotel in Sri Lanka 2015 by World Luxury Hotel Awards and Winner of Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor for 2014, 2015, and 2016, shortlisted for Responsible Tourism Award – Best for Poverty Reduction 2015 in 2015 and is currently nominated for the Award Sri Lanka’s Best Wellness Retreat 2016 by World Spa Awards and Best Spa Hotel in Sri Lanka 2016 by World Luxury Hotel Awards.
During the holiday, you will stay in a luxury standard room. All of the standard rooms are in the lodge and they all open in to a beautiful open veranda. The rooms and bathrooms are completed beautifully to include modern guest requirements. The rooms have fans but they are not air conditioned.
You will find this holiday experience very different from a normal activity packed holiday or even a normal spa holiday. Plantation Villa is offering a very unique opportunity for you to be amidst nature and totally relax whilst they look after you using the knowledge of century old Vedic traditions and mindfulness practices.
You will arrive to a completely natural environment with no man-made distractions. The idea is that when the physical body is not too active and there are not much distractions to stimulate the mind, it turns inwards into understanding and feeling your own emotions and cognitive behavior patterns.
Most of your modern day life is so full of distractions that you are left with little or no time to really examine your inner-self. As a result, you become so unaware of your own emotions and the impact it is having on your physical body.
Once you arrive, Plantation Villa's friendly team will help you settle in to your room. Your first days treatment will be light as the body needs time to settle in to the environmental changes, effects of flying, and jet lag. Ayurveda is very much a gentle push to the body to help recover itself or get to its optimum balance. It works very much with the speed of your body. Introductions of treatments to the body is done gently and gradually.
Please note this is only an indicative itinerary as timing and duration can change with each retreat or guest depending on their individual treatments, therapy or fitness regime on arrival.
